Pleasant Times: Elmer Carrington was shot and instantly killed Thursday night about eight o'clock at the home of his brother-in-law, Wirt Scott, four miles northeast of town. Two shots took effect, the one entering Carrington's side near the heart, and the other going through the body from the back and coming out through his stomach. Either of the shots would have been fatal, it is said. Reports of the tragedy indicate that the deceased came to the Scott home under the influence of liquor, with the pistol in his hand and announced his intention of killing his wife, who was spending the evening with her brother and family, and also all the others who were present. Before he could carry out his intentions, however, Scott is said to have brought his own gun into action, shooting Carrington twice. The trouble occurred in the rear of the house, and after being shot Carrington ran through the house, falling on the front porch.
