Mr. Smith was one of the county's pioneers, and was nearly 80 years of age at the time of his death. He was reared near Winfield, and held the respect of all who knew him, because of his honesty and integrity. No one ever questioned his business dealings. He was a devout member of the Baptist Church and was a regular attendant at the services, with which he allowed nothing to interfere. Mr. Smith is survived by a widow, and the following children: Mrs. W. B. Reed, Mrs. Emma Williamson and Ralph Smith of Winfield, Drew Smith of Mississippi, Wood and Arthur Smith of West Texas. He also leaves a large number of relatives throughout the west portion of the county, and countless friends, who will regret to hear of his death.
