Sikes Turner, 53, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord Friday, Nov. 29, 1996, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. She was a past member of Park Heights Baptist Church and worked in the insurance department at Shannon Medical Center. She was a very beautiful woman full of laughter and love for her family. Neva's journey of life has taken her down many roads of twists and turns, but she displayed her finest strength and courage to make the best of every situation and live every day to the fullest. She possessed a zeal for the abundant life that never faltered. Her strong heart and smile will be missed by many. RONALD L. BOATRIGHT Ronald L. Boatright died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, in Port Arthur. He was born in San Angelo Aug. 14, 1926. Memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 27, in Port Arthur. He attended the San Angelo schools and graduated from the University of Texas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II on the USS Skylark. Survivors include his wife, Erma; a son, Ronnie of Port Arthur; a son, Robbey and wife, Karen, of Baytown; a daughter, Debbie and husband, Keith Sparkman, of Austin; five grandchildren; a brother, Harold and wife, Helen, and a sister, Ruby Hartman, all of San Angelo. GEORGE A. CARRITHERS BRADY - George A. Carrithers died in Brady at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a short illness at the age of 80 on Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the First Christian Church with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the residence of Mr. George A. Carrithers at 604 West 13th Street, Brady. Born in Brady on Sept. 12, 1916, he attended the local schools where he quarterbacked for the Brady Bulldogs and graduated in 1934. He proudly entered Texas Tech University and received a bachelor's degree in geology in 1938. On Sept. 1, 1938, he married Charlene Gray, a union of 56 years that lasted until her death in December 1994. George joined his father, A.B. Carrithers, in the family insurance founded in Brady in 1903. He respectfully served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he returned home to his family and the insurance business and became actively involved in the Brady National Bank. Over 47 years, he served the bank as board member, chairman of the board and president. In 1967, he pursued his passion for ranching and continued to actively participate in the ranching business until his death. George was a member of the First Christian Church all his life. He is survived by his three children, Gray Carrithers and daughter-in-law, Marilyn, C. Ed Carrithers and daughter-in-law, Charlotte, all of Brady, and Suzanne James and son-in-law, Bruce, of San Antonio. He was a loving grandfather and will be missed by his six grandchildren, Charla, Camille, Charmaine, Charles T., Megan and Chase. The family requests memorials be made to one's favorite charity. Arrangements are by Wilkerson Funeral Home. MAY CLICK EDEN - May Click died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1996, at Concho Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since 1986. She was born April 23, 1905, in Brown County, Texas, the oldest of six children of J.J. and Rhoda Teague Williams. She grew up in Voca in McCulloch County, where she married George Click in 1925. They moved to the Duck Creek community near Paint Rock in 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband March 25, 1990. She is survived by three sons, Paul Click of Burleson, Elton Click of Paint Rock and Robert Click of Bath, Maine; and seven grandchildren, Terry Click, Col. Bob Click, Shelia Price, Paula McAnally and Patricia Oden. Two granddaughters, Anne and Judy, live in Maine. She also is survived by two brothers, Jack Williams of San Angelo and J.B. Williams of California. Mrs. Click was a member of First United Methodist Church of Paint Rock. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at the Eden Funeral Home. ROBERT EUGENE ELLIS SAN SABA - Robert Eugene Ellis was born Jan. 2, 1911. He and Eunice Deane Kattes were married Sept. 5, 1940, in San Saba. He passed away Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., Nov. 29, 1996, at age 85. He lived on the Ellis Ranch in Sloan Community all his life. He loved his family, home, church and friends. Robert was a deacon and elder in the New Hope Church and served the community in many helpful ways. He liked to work and he and his wife continued to manage their ranch until his death. He loved people and enjoyed living. Robert was born to Mattie Sloan Ellis and J.R. Ellis and was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, James, Joe, Wade, Raymond and Ward Ellis. REBECCA `BECKY' ELIZABETH WHITE Rebecca Elizabeth White, beloved daughter and sister, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, in Arlington, Texas. Becky is survived by her parents, Brenda and Charles E. White, formerly longtime residents of Mertzon, now residing in Enid, Okla. She is also survived by her brother, L. She attended schools in Mertzon and graduated with honors in 1991. Becky continued her education and graduated with honors from Angelo State University in December 1995 with a degree in biology. While at ASU she was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Tri Beta as well as other organizations. She routinely volunteered her time to serve in the soup kitchen for the Thanksgiving holiday. Becky spent the spring and summer following graduation with her parents in Oklahoma and began her graduate studies this past August at the University of Texas at Arlington with a specialty in animal behavior. She was extremely happy with her teaching assistant duties at the University and her post graduation studies. Becky's life was like a pebble dropped in a pool. the ripples ever widening and touching many more lives than we knew. JOHN FRANKLIN CASTLE John Franklin Castle of San Angelo passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, in Shannon Memorial Hospital. John was born May 16, 1906, in Pecan Gap, Texas, to the late Oratio and Cora Castle. John joined the U.S. Air Force in February 1931. He married Jane Robin on April 16, 1938, in Santa Rosa, Calif. John later retired as a lieutenant colonel in May 1956. After his retirement, John and Jane returned to Honey Grove. In 1984, they moved to San Angelo, where they made their home. His beloved wife Jane preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 1996. Baccus, 93, died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, in a local hospital. Services are pending at Grimes Funeral Chapels. TURNEY P. LINNEY Turney P. Linney, 75, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at his home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. James Mitchell and the Rev. Jackie Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Cemetery in Coke County. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mr. Linney was born June 10, 1921, in Robert Lee. He married Veneta Curbo on Nov. 22, 1963, in Tom Green County. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mr. Linney was a rancher and worked at Veribest Cattle Feeders and Holsum Bakery. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Veneta Linney of San Angelo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clay and Julie Eaton of San Angelo and Wendell and Sharon Ransbarger of Abilene; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Griff Hanks, Marcy and Duane Drew and Darlene and Robert Norwood, all of San Angelo; three granddaughters, Kristi Bradford, Anji Drew and Amy Self; six grandsons, Clay Eaton Jr., Chase Eaton, J.J. Norwood, Jared Drew, Michael Ransbarger and Gary Norwood; one brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Jewell Linney of Rising Star; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and J.C. Stroman of Sweetwater, Nora and Tom Hale of Midland and Mary Lou Allen of El Paso; and special friends, Pauline Dyer and Edna Box. Pallbearers will be nephews, Randy Lehmberg, Jim Bradford, Byron Seal, Butch Stroman, Ronnie Stroman and Billy Don Linney. OPAL BAKER ROBERT LEE - Opal Baker went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996. She was born June 16, 1911, to Marshal and Annie Lett. She married Gene Baker on May 5, 1929, in Winters and they moved to Robert Lee in 1932. Gene and Opal owned and operated Baker's Grocery in Robert Lee from 1948 until his death in 1973. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Janet Baker and Ronnie and Sammie Jo Baker, all of Robert Lee; and one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dick Denman of Corpus Christi. Surviving grandchildren are Dianne and her husband, Gary Parker, Cheri and her husband, Ricky Mashburn, Valerie and her husband, Bill Howard, Mary Kay and her husband, Mike Brasuel, Micky and his wife, Kelly Baker, Melynda and her husband, Charlie Heflin, and Michael and his wife, Dawn Denman. She also is survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
