The service will be officiated by Jack's nephew, Don Hayhurst, pastor of First Baptist Church, Mountainaire, N.M., and Dan Williams, pastor of Southland Baptist Church. Music will be provided by Vernon Stokes, Jack's nephew. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. The ninth of 10 children, Jack was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Iradell, Texas. Jack served his country in the 7th Calvary of the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. Following his tour of service, Jack was a water flood operator with Texaco for 32 years in Jal, N.M., and Pecos. Faith, family and fun best describe Jack's legacy to his family and friends. Jack's deep faith and commitment to our Lord was exemplified in his lifestyle and service to his church. He was ordained a deacon at the First Baptist Church, Jal, N.M. Jack actively demonstrated the life of a Christian servant as a worker, husband, father and sufferer to a horrible disease. Next to his relationship with God, Jack's passion was his family. With both his extended and immediate family, Jack touched each member with love, laughter and a memory of ``family.'' As a husband, Jack was truly committed to the life-long relationship with his wife, Reba, the love of his life for 45 years. Together, they portrayed for their children, Roy and Beverley, a Christian faith and lifestyle that lives on in their lives, their spouses and those of their children. Throughout his life, Jack loved to laugh and have fun. Memories of his smile and laughter are a part of every life Jack touched. Jack taught us to laugh even in difficult times. Through his fun-loving spirit, Jack created a ``memory-maker'' with each person who knew him. Jack is survived by his wife, Reba; his children, Roy and Carol Stokes, Beverley and Terry Stokes; his grandchildren, Whitney, Ryan, Cody, Brandi and Randy; his great-grandson, Ian; one brother, Raymond Stokes of Portales, N.M.; two sisters, Alma Frazier of Lubbock and Frances Brewster of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Honorary pallbearers are the men from the Friendship class at Southland Baptist Church and Jack's nephews. The family expresses its sincere appreciation to the staff at the V.A. Hospital in Kerrville for their affectionate and exemplary care of Jack for the past eight and one-half years. The family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Disease research at the Department of Neurology, 3601 Fourth Street, Lubbock, Texas 79430. JACQUE IONE FOSTER McCLURE STERLING CITY - On Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, Jacque Ione Foster McClure died suddenly in San Angelo at 6:30 p.m. Jacque was born in Sterling County on July 24, 1936. Jacque was an only child of pioneer ranching family Edna Earl Garrett Foster and Robert Sterling Foster. She married Winn J. McClure on Jan. 2, 1954. Jacque's legacy to her family and friends is to be found in the way she lived each day. She set a wonderful example as a loving wife, mother and doting grandmother. She will be fondly remembered as ``Grandmother'' or ``E-Mom'' by her grandchildren, who dearly loved her. Jacque worked long hours on various volunteer projects, be it at school, church or any of the many organizations that she belonged to. In the past, Jacque was an active member of PTA, Beta Sigma Phi, Silverbelle Cattlewomen and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a past president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Ladies Auxiliary and was a director of the Make It Yourself With Wool contest. She was a lifelong member of the Sterling City Methodist Church and gave generously of her time and talents by serving in various capacities; she co-chaired the parsonage building committee, headed the worship committee, was a Bible school worker, trustee and more. Presently, Jacque was serving as the president of the Sterling County Hospital Board. Jacque was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Worthy Matron. She was a member of Noratadata and she enjoyed bridge and loved to entertain. She often would write her invitations in poetic style and then let the party begin. Jacque was the consummate hostess and was known far and wide for her ``Texas style'' of entertaining. Jacque gave the best party and is remembered for her ``the door is always open'' policy. No one ever would feel like a stranger in Jacque's home. Sometimes it seemed that Jacque's home was wherever she was, as she and her husband catered large parties across the state featuring ``Winn's Country Cooking.'' Often times the hungry folks were coming back for Jacque's homemade bread rolls or desserts! When we remember Jacque's life, we need to remember her with a smile and in tribute learn to give the way Jacque gave. There was never a friend or stranger in difficult times or crisis who could not count on Jacque to be there giving a hand or providing a shoulder to lean on. For these things, we are thankful for the life of Jacque Foster McClure. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Sterling City with the Rev. Shane Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Foster Cemetery, under the direction of Ross Funeral Home. Jacque is survived by her husband, Winn; her daughter, Debbie Foster of Midland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Janice McClure of Greenville, S.C., and Bobby and LaNae McClure of Sterling City; and five grandchildren, Angela and Leland Foster of Midland, Raymond and Christen Hammond of Greenville and Garrett McClure of Sterling City; and many relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Sparkman, Bobby Sparkman, Lee Couch, Gay Swint, Carlton Turner, Bob Hunter, Buck Graham, Cowboy Hines, Dash Peterson, Larry Wilson, Jeremy Hines, Bill Mack McClure, Carl Peterson and Eddy Everett. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Monte Jones of Sonora officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Duncan was born July 9, 1925, in San Antonio to D.C. Ogden and Frederica Poole Wilson. Duncan's mother was born in Manchester, England, and married his father, Ogden, after World War I. Other ancestors were Elizabeth Cox and Capt. Duncan Campbell Ogden, who came to Texas in 1838. Capt. Ogden was a captain in the Army of the Republic of Texas. His son established the Coralina Ranch near Fort McKavett in 1885. The ranch passed to his nephew, D.C. Ogden Wilson, the son of Cora Ogden Wilson and Nathan Taylor Wilson, in 1916, and has remained in the family for more than 100 years. As was the custom at the time for ranching families, Duncan was educated at San Antonio Academy and Southern Arizona School for Boys. He graduated from the Texas Military Institute in San Antonio in 1942. In 1943, during World War II, he entered the service as an aerial gunner in a bombardment squadron of the U.S. Army. Upon graduating, he went to work for Gulf Oil Co. in Marfa, Fort Worth and finally Amarillo. On Aug. 31, 1957, Duncan married Patricia Hope of Marfa. They began their married life in Amarillo where their son, Cam, was born in 1958. They moved to the ranch in 1960, and their daughter, Hope, was born the next year. He was an Episcopalian and a member of St. James Church that his great-aunt ``Lizzie'' Ogden helped to found in Fort McKavett. A staunch, conservative Republican, Duncan was a longtime member of the Associated Republicans of Texas. He was an avid naturalist, bird watcher and a true steward of the land. Duncan, a modest man, was well-known for his generosity and his acts of kindness. He was equally well-known for his credo, ``Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves.'' His quality Angus cattle and pecan orchard are widely respected in West Texas.
