She married Joseph C. Moeller on Jan. 6, 1925, in Olfen, Texas. He preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1962. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joey, and a daughter, Lillian. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena. She was also a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Washington, 32, died at Valley Hospital in Alaska on Dec. 22, 1996. Service for David will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Crenshaw Memorial I.M.E. Church. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. David was born July 7, 1964, in San Angelo to Lucious and Inez (Fletcher) Washington. He attended schools in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central High School. He attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine for 2« years, where he played football. After college, he joined the Army. David went to Alaska with the Army in 1988 and was stationed at Fort Richardson until his discharge in June of 1992. He was a reserve police officer with the Palmer Police Department. He was Soldier of the Month in December of 1990. He also assisted with the security in 1989 for President George Bush. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He also played football, softball and did weight training. According to his family, David was a loving husband, father and friend. He loved people, and everywhere he went, people were touched by his good heart. He truly loved police work because it gave him a chance to help people. David was a great husband and father who always had time for his wife and two children. David always put his family and friends before himself. He will always be remembered by everyone who knew him. He will be truly missed by all. David is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and two children, Aaron, 10, and Angelica, 7, all of Palmer, Alaska; his parents, Inez and Lucious Washington of San Angelo; and his brothers, Eddie Washington of Austin, Lucious M. Washington of Fort Madison, Iowa. He is also survived by nephews, Orlando and Antonio Washington, and niece, Adonna Evette Ussery, all of San Angelo, and numerous other nieces and nephews. MAXINE BLANCHE HARWELL KEEN Maxine Blanche Harwell Keen, a retired teacher and administrator, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 1996, at her home. Mrs. Keen had been a resident of San Angelo since 1942, moving here from Oklahoma. She married Jimmie Keen in June of 1942. Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Stanley Lockhart, the Rev. Roger Harwell and Dr. Jack Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Maxine was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Lexington, Tenn. She graduated from high school in Wetumka, Okla., and attended East Central State Teachers College, Ada, Okla., and obtained her undergraduate degree in 1939. She received her master's degree and administration certificate in 1959 from Sul Ross State College in Alpine. Mrs. Keen started her teaching career in 1939 in a two-teacher county school, teaching grades 1, 2 and 3 at Prairie View Elementary in Okfuskee County for three years. She moved to San Angelo in May 1942 and taught grades 1, 2 and 3 at Knickerbocker, Tom Green County Elementary School, after which then-county superintendent Frank Jackson consented to let her transfer into the San Angelo public schools. She taught at McGill Elementary under her dear principal, Evelyn Phillips. After three years, Mr. Bryan Dickens, school superintendent, retired, and Mr. G.B. Wadzeck became San Angelo school superintendent. He placed Mrs. Keen as elementary supervisor over grades 1, 2 and 3. After several years, he placed her as primary coordinator, a position she held for eight years until she was placed as elementary principal at Bellaire Elementary School, where she remained for the last 18 years of her 36-year career in elementary education. Mrs. Keen was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association of San Angelo. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education, and was initiated as a member of Zeta Delta Chapter on Aug. 13, 1959, at Sul Ross State College. She was initiated into the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in 1945 and served as treasurer of Alpha Beta for 18 years, corresponding secretary from 1972-1976, and received the Alpha Beta Achievement Award for her outstanding contribution to the chapter in 1987. She was a life member of PTA during her career, a 10-year member of the Century Club of Texas and the Crippled Children's Lions Camp in Kerrville, with Lion husband, Jimmie. She was a member of The 32 Club and Leading Ladies. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ, 2200 Johnson St., where she received an award for Faithful Service as Bible School Coordinator in 1966. Maxine was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Harwell Speed; her father, Elvin E. Harwell; and mother, Ada Mae Harwell. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie B. Keen of San Angelo; two sisters, Marcelle Harwell Wilkinson and husband, retired Dr. Ollie Wilkinson, of Oroville, Calif., and Mildred Harwell Whittle and husband, Herman Whittle, of Woodland, Calif.; two brothers, Harold Harwell and wife, Louise, of Okemah, Okla., and Kenneth Harwell and wife, Maureen, of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews. He was a reserve police officer with the Palmer Police Department. He was Soldier of the Month in December of 1990. He also assisted with the security in 1989 for President George Bush. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He also played football, softball and did weight training. According to his family, David was a loving husband, father and friend. He loved people, and everywhere he went, people were touched by his good heart. He truly loved police work because it gave him a chance to help people. David was a great husband and father who always had time for his wife and two children. David always put his family and friends before himself. He will always be remembered by everyone who knew him. He will be truly missed by all. DON T. FARRINGTON Don T. Farrington, 85, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996, at his residence in San Angelo, after a lengthy illness. Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Mike O'Neill, pastor of Northridge Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Don was born April 8, 1911, in Schleicher County to G.H. and Willie Mae Farrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He was a member of the Northridge Baptist Church. Don married Katy Ophelia Jones on March 14, 1935, in the Park Heights Baptist Church. Don was a cowboy in his early life before entering the military service in World War II. Afterward he pursued careers in real estate and retail merchandising, retiring from Sears Roebuck Co. in 1972 with 15 years of service. Don was an avid artist, specializing in western scenes. He attributed this to having been reared in West Texas where horses, the outdoor life and the history of the Old West had been a constant influence on his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Katy; several nieces and nephews; and good friends. Pallbearers will be nephews. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Vantage Home Health. PAULA ANN BARBEE Paula Ann Barbee, 47, of San Angelo died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Tree of Life Church with the Rev. John Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mrs. Barbee was born Aug. 14, 1949, in San Angelo to A.C. and Novelle Pasley. She married Calvin Barbee June 11, 1977, in San Angelo. She was a medical transcriptionist at Concho Valley Hospital and a member of Tree of Life Church. Survivors include her husband, Calvin of the home; one son, Jason Chatham and his wife, Eva Lee, of San Angelo; one daughter, Michelle Morehead and husband, James, of San Antonio; one stepdaughter, Debbie Earnest of San Angelo; her mother, Novelle Pasley of San Angelo; one sister, Karen Teague of San Angelo; one brother, Vick Pasley of Carrollton; four granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. John Hunt, Bob, Tammy and Family Hospice. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice. Paula expressed her thanks to all of her friends and family, saying that every moment spent with them was a true joy. She wanted all of them to know that she dearly loved them. Charles Henry Trigg Jr., 93, of San Angelo and the Log Cabin Ranch near Mertzon, died at 6:05 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, in Shannon Medical Center. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Rohlfs of First United Methodist Church and Gov. William P. Clements officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mr. Trigg was born Dec. 7, 1903, to Charles Henry Trigg Sr. and Armanda Elizabeth Robbins in Cresson, Texas. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in 1929. He coached at Highland Park High School from 1929 to 1935 and returned to SMU as an assistant coach in 1935 and coached until 1942. From 1947 to 1954, he officiated for the Southwest Conference and in the Orange and Sugar Bowls. He was named vice president of the Southwest Conference Officials Association in 1958. He and Katharine Hughes were married June 1, 1933, in San Angelo. He entered the Navy in 1942, was commissioned a lieutenant commander and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his coaching career, Mr. and Mrs. Trigg moved to Eldorado in 1947 and assumed the Ford Dealership. They moved from Eldorado in 1976 and made their home at the Log Cabin Ranch in Mertzon. They also ranched at the family ranch in Reagan County. Mr. and Mrs. Trigg gave Southern Methodist University $10 million toward the construction of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center, which was completed in 1988. The site for the center was selected because it was there that they met while students at SMU. The Triggs have established two endowments at SMU - The Charles H. and Katharine Hughes Trigg Athletic Endowment and The Katharine Hughes Trigg and Charles H. Trigg Presidential Scholarships Program. In addition, they helped support the Ownby Stadium Renovation Fund in 1989, are life members of the SMU Alumni Association and have been active with their graduating class reunions. Mr. Trigg is survived by his wife, Katharine Hughes Trigg; three nieces, Dorothy Jean Hanebutt of Fort Worth, Carol Crews Carter of Dallas and Joan Crews Hoyt of Mertzon; two nephews, Bill Brown of Aledo and Charles J. Hughes of San Angelo; and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Hughes Doss and Mrs. M.J. (Carlotta) Hartman, both of San Angelo. Pallbearers will be O.K. Wolfenbarger and Loye Tankersley, both of Mertzon, and Mike Eckert, Vic Eckert, Greg Charles and Dr. Dan Stultz, all of San Angelo. The family has requested that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of San Angelo or Southern Methodist University.
