JEWELL WILLIAMSON ROYAL MENARD - Jewell Williamson Royal, age 88, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, in Meadow Creek Nursing Home in San Angelo. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at First United Methodist Church in Menard with the Rev. Andy Reichert and Grosse Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home. Jewell was born July 15, 1908, in Sonora. Her parents were William W. and Lucy Striegler Williamson. She graduated as valedictorian from Sonora High School in 1925, and four years later she received her bachelor of arts degree, with honors, from Southwestern University in Georgetown. After teaching a year in London, Texas, she married John L. Royal June 12, 1930. For seven years, Jewell and John lived in Crockett, where she taught second grade and John was the high school athletic coach. In 1937, they moved to Menard County and started ranching. During the acute teacher shortage after World War II, Jewell taught second grade in Menard for those years. Jewell was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Menard. She taught Sunday school and was a member the United Methodist Women. After moving to San Angelo, she became a member of First United Methodist Church in San Angelo. Survivors include her husband, John L. Royal of San Angelo; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jo Ann Royal of Menard; a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Ray Lammert of San Antonio; a brother, A.A.``Rusty'' Williamson of Menard; a sister, Margaret Rudder of Bryan; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. BOB SMITH DALLAS - Bob Smith passed away Sunday, April 27, 1997, at his home in Dallas. Bob was born June 23, 1923, in Fort Worth and was raised in San Angelo. He graduated from San Angelo High School and Sul Ross University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired ATF agent. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.M. and Lucille Chiles Smith. He is survived by his wife, Jane; son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Jodi Smith of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Luci and Gary Reed of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Jim Reed, Casey Reed and Kyle Smith. H. DUWAIN VINSON H. Duwain Vinson, 83, of Sherwood passed away Sunday, April 27, 1997, in the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake. Duwain was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Sherwood, where he had resided the past 20 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran with 13 months spent in the Panama Canal Zone. Mr. Vinson was a lifetime rancher and welder. After retiring, he built pens for local ranchers and rebuilt windmills. For his pastimes he enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes. His four grandchildren loved and respected him and greatly enjoyed his company. He lived by and instilled in his sons, the motto, ``if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.'' The family would like to thank his multitude of friends who came by to see him during his illness. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in Sherwood Cemetery with the Rev. KAY WAGENKNECHT-HARTE Kay Wagenknecht-Harte, 45, died Saturday, April 26, 1997, at her family's Spicewood, Texas, home after a three-year bout with cancer. Mrs. Wagenknecht-Harte was the wife of Christopher M. Harte, a grandson of Houston Harte, longtime publisher of the San Angelo Standard-Times, and a son of Janet and Ed Harte, both former San Angeloans. Mrs. Wagenknecht-Harte was a landscape architect with degrees from Princeton, the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. She lived in Portland, Maine, where she was a landscape architect and urban planner for the city of Portland. She is survived by two sisters, Lynn Wagenknecht of New York City and Ann Dubois of Washington, D.C., both of whom were born in San Angelo when their father was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base. Other survivors include her husband and a son, William, both of Portland; her father, Theodore Wagenknecht of Cincinnati; and two brothers, Jon of Chicago and Karl of Eugene, Ore. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the First Parish Church of Portland. TRAMEL WILSON William Tramel Wilson died at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 1997, in the Baker-Brame Nursing Home in San Angelo. Tramel was born on May 23, 1920, in Norton, Texas, to Henry and Nettie Lee Wilson. He was the eldest of eight children. In the late 1920s, the Wilsons moved to San Angelo where Tramel attended elementary school. As a teen-ager, he found employment in the Civilian Conservation Corps and in driving cattle trucks. Tramel married Pearl Moorhead in 1938, They had one son, Tramel Rex Wilson. A second marriage, to Josephine (Moulton) Chandler, was entered into on Nov. 23, 1944. Their union grew and flourished for nearly 50 years until Josephine's death on Jan. 17, 1994. Don Chandler, Josephine's son from a previous marriage, was a cherished member of the family from the very beginning. Josephine, Don, Rex, the numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, parents, brothers and sisters, and all extended family members were constant sources of pride for Tramel throughout his life. Tramel, Josephine and Don worked cattle in Sterling City in 1947 and owned a restaurant in Big Lake in the late '40s and early '50s. During the period of 1957-1980, the family owned a lounge and ranched in Las Vegas, N.M. After spending most of the 1980s in retirement in Zapata, Tramel and Josephine returned to San Angelo to be closer to friends and relatives. Tramel was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; parents, Henry and Nettie; two brothers, Randal and Travis Wilson; one sister, Helen Wilson; and a grandson, Brian Tate Wilson. He is survived by three sisters, Ruth Glen of San Angelo, Doris Kiser of Tyler and Sue Chesser of Abilene. Also still living are a brother, Wylie Wilson of San Angelo; an aunt, Nina Roper of Ballinger; two sisters-in-law, Tommie Huling and Louise Moulton of San Angelo; a mother-in-law, Ella Dixon of San Angelo; and two sons, and their wives, Don and Bonnie Chandler of Barstow, Calif., and Rex and Eleanor Wilson of Alpine. Tramel is also survived by nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation for W. Tramel Wilson will be Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at Robert Massie Funeral Home. The Rev. Mr. Wanoreck was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Wanoreck; his brothers, Victor and Albert Wanoreck; and his sisters, Lena Stock, Emma Hoelscher, Ella Halfmann, Hilda Hoelscher and Lizzie Pelzel. Mr. Wanoreck was born June 18, 1898, to Joe and Lena Wanoreck in Rockdale, Texas. His family moved to the Olfen community in 1910. He attended Olfen school. As a young man he helped build the St. Boniface Church in Olfen and St. Joseph Church in Rowena. He farmed in the Olfen and Rowena communities. In the 1930s he moved to Wall to farm. There he married Annie Hejl on Oct. 12, 1935. In 1941, he moved to Mereta to farm until his retirement in 1961, when he moved to San Angelo. He was a former director of the Mereta Co-op Gin, a member of the Rowena Sons of Hermann Lodge and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Michael Wanoreck, Gary Wanoreck and Eugene Wanoreck Jr., Jeff Odell, Ralph Goble and Greg Hoelscher. The family would like to thank Home Care Nurses and the staff. JACK ROCHE AUSTIN - Jack Roche, age 64, of Austin died unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 1997. Jack loved everyone, and everyone loved him. He would immediately draw a smile from everyone he met. Jack had a profound faith and helped many people through his work in A.A. for the past 25 years, his KAIROS prison ministry and various church ministries. He also spent a lot of time touring on his motorcycle, and had a deep love for his ``Chapter O'' friends.
