Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Dr. Jerold McBride and the Rev. James Andrews. Burial will follow in Belvedere Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Harold Gibbs was born seven miles from San Angelo in Tom Green County on Dec. 20, 1913, to Wallace C. and Delia Swope Gibbs. He attended Twin Mountain School, North Ward Elementary and Edison Junior High. He graduated from San Angelo High School in 1931. During his young adult years of the Great Depression he sold feed sacks, pulled dead wool, picked cotton, hauled gravel and sand with a wagon and mule team, and ``anything else he could find to do to make a dime.'' He also worked in several grocery stores, such as `M' System, Safeway, Piggly Wiggly and others. A favorite story he often told was that he carried out groceries in water waist-deep during the flood of 1936 at Modern Way Food Store. He later established Gibbs Produce Co. in 1949. In 1953 he was in the retail grocery business in Ozona. From 1954 to 1961 he was in the insurance business in San Angelo and Austin. In 1961, he became affiliated with Town & Country Food Stores of Austin and opened the first Town & Country stores in San Angelo in 1965. He retired as CEO of Town & Country Food Stores in 1980. Harold Gibbs had many diversified interests. After retirement, Harold devoted his full time to his ranches in Brown County and Tom Green County. His favorite occupations at the ranch were working the roads, clearing brush and mowing with his tractor. He enjoyed all aspects of ranching and farming and was an avid gardener. He also spent many happy hours cooking and canning in the kitchen. Harold married Norma Paula Lena Kuck on Dec. 23, 1934, in San Angelo. Sixty-three years ago they established a loving home and firm foundation for their family. He was preceded in death by their son, Harold Cragg ``Buddy'' Gibbs Jr. in 1959. He also was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Billy Gibbs; and his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gibbs and Rena J. Kuck. He is survived by his wife, Norma; his daughter, Dela Gibbs Terrill and her husband, Burt; his grandchildren, Craig Terrill and wife, Melodi, of San Angelo, Mike Terrill of San Angelo and Tammy Terrill Glass and husband, Jason, of Kingsville. He was known as ``Pappy'' to his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley Terrill of San Angelo. He is also survived by his brother, Wallace C. Gibbs Jr. and his sister, Geraldine Gibbs Boatright, both of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was the strong and loving paternal example to all his family. Harold served as chairman of the deacons at First Baptist Church and served his church well for many years. He was particularly close to and fond of all Sunday school members of Adult 8. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of the Caleb Class of First Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers are the officers of Town & Country Food Stores, Don Allison, Jim Little, Lloyd Norris, Keith Fausnacht, Drex Vincent and Tom Winter. ROSA GONZALES CASTILLO Rosa Gonzales Castillo, 68, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, in Shannon Medical Center. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Rosa was born Oct. 26, 1928, to Isidro and Jesusa Gonzales in Millersview, Texas. Her father preceded her in death. She married Edemencio ``Eddie'' Castillo on July 3, 1946, in Olfen. She had been a resident of San Angelo since 1950. She worked as an instructor for Levi, until her retirement in 1986. Working together with her husband she was very active in the Eucharist ministry, hospitality hospital ministry, evangelization ministry, family night, senior citizens Thanksgiving meals and was leader of the St. Vincent Community. She started the funeral ministry at St. Mary's. Rosa volunteered lots of her time to the St. Mary's Church festival in the arts and crafts booth. She is survived by her husband, Eddie Castillo of the home; her mother, Jesusa Gonzales of San Angelo; one daughter, Helen Coronado and her husband, Ed, of San Angelo; one son, Gilbert Castillo of San Angelo; two brothers, Richard Gonzales of Ballinger and Isidro Gonzales Jr. of Lamesa; four sisters, Geneva Castillo of San Angelo, Esther Leal of Kenedy, Betty Hogeda of San Angelo and Carolyn Laureles of Brownwood; two granddaughters, Michele Delgado and her husband, Jerry, and Veronica Coronado, all of San Angelo; one grandson, Joseph Coronado of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff and the volunteers in the ICU waiting room at Shannon Medical Center for the care that was given to their mother. DWIGHT `DOC' WIEDENMANN McKINNEY - Dwight ``Doc'' Wiedenmann, 73, of McKinney, Texas, died Aug. 26, 1997, a his residence. He was born March 5, 1924, to Dr. Henry William and Clarice Huffman Wiedenmann in Kirksville, Mo., and the family moved to Eldorado, Texas, when he was 2 years of age. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1941, attended Texas A&M, Schreiner Institute in Kerrville and graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in business administration in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the Aviation Division, served in the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific and at the Naval Air Base in Guam in World War II. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal for military service. After college graduation, Dwight roughnecked in the oil fields of West Texas. He served in various positions in Eldorado: deputy sheriff, tax assessor and county auditor. He also worked for the Water Board in San Antonio. He retired in Dallas from the United State Health & Human Services in 1989. Dwight was an avid sportsman. He played football in high school and for Schreiner Institute at end position. He enjoyed all spectator sports. He was a member of the McKinney Country Club for many years and was known as a keen competitor who could play those nine holes blindfolded. Golf was his passion. Dwight loved to cook and you could always find a pot of his favorite soup on the stove. Dwight was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Hella Shrine Temple in Dallas, First United Methodist Church in McKinney and McKinney Country Club. He enjoyed playing in Couples Bridge Dinner Clubs. Dwight and Joy celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss in May of 1997. His unconditional love for his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather was given freely and accepted by his family daily. Above all, in his last years, he accepted the Lord within his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry William and Clarice Huffman Wiedenmann. Born Feb. 15, 1921, in Eminence, Mo., Al moved with his parents, George and Lena Reary to Hayden, Colo., at an early age. He joined the U.S. Air Force in July 1940 and was privileged to be one of the first airmen to arrive at Goodfellow Air Force Base in 1941. On June 11, 1943, he married the former Wanda Ruth Clendenen of San Angelo in Denver, Colo., and they became members of the Air Force family until 1965. Upon retirement, Al was fortunate to receive an appointment as San Angelo's airport manager. In addition to this second enjoyable career he was active in civic and community affairs. He was a member and past president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Air Force Association, Retired Officers Association and Rio Concho Manor. He also served at the First Christian Church as a deacon, trustee and moderator during the past 30 years. Mr. Reary was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ruben Berra of Cuernavaca, Mexico; three granddaughters, Katia, Adriana and Tania Berra; two sisters, Maudline Roth and Erma Morison of Denver; in-laws, Roger and Shirley Clendenen, Ailene Clendenen Watchorn, Dorthy Runnels Clendenen, Karl T. DOROTHY BAKER MILLSPAUGH OZONA - Dorothy Millspaugh, 84, of Ozona died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, in her home. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, in Ozona Cedar Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Monty Jones of St. John's Episcopal Church of Sonora officiating. Arrangements are by Preddy Funeral Home. Dorothy Elizabeth was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Sutton County. She was the only child of Sterling Price Baker and Eva Martin Baker, who were both from pioneer families. Her maternal grandfather, John Rowland Martin, came to Kimble County with his family in 1878, at the age of 12. Dorothy's Sutton County ranch is part of the original land that was homesteaded by her paternal grandfather, Robert T. Baker, in the mid-late 1800s. Dorothy attended TCU and the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity. She married Sidney Sanderson Millspaugh Jr. of San Angelo on Sept. 15, 1934, in St. John's Episcopal Church in Sonora. Sid and Dorothy ranched southwest of Ozona. After her husband's death in 1952, Dorothy returned to college and received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Sul Ross University in Alpine. She taught school in Lamesa, Rankin, San Antonio and Big Lake. She also continued to manage her ranching interests in Sutton and Crockett counties. Dorothy was a former member of the Ozona Woman's Forum, the Country Club Bridge Club, and the Duplicate Bridge Club. She was also a loyal supporter of the Crockett County Museum and Library. Her collection of historical books was outstanding. Preceding her in death were her husband and her parents. Surviving her are two daughters and one son, Linda Aysseh, Marilyn West and Sidney Sanderson Millspaugh III. Her daughter, Linda, is married to Charles Aysseh of New Canaan, Conn. Linda has one son, Eric Brix Andersen of Denver and one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Jack Ryder and one granddaughter, Josephine Emily Ryder, all of Boulder, Colo. Her daughter, Marilyn, is married to James West of Colorado Springs, Colo. Their children are Ryan Millspaugh West and Jessica Joelle West of Colorado Springs. Her son, Sidney, and his wife, Judy, have one son, Sidney Sanderson Millspaugh IV, and they live in San Antonio. WILLIAM JOSEPH SWANN STERLING CITY - William Joseph Swann, M.D., 96, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, in the Sterling County Nursing Home. Dr. Swann was born Oct. 27, 1900, in Wedowee, Alabama. He graduated from Randolph County (Alabama) High School in 1916, attended the University of Alabama and received his M.D. degree from Emory University Medical School in 1924. He was a member of Phi Chi medical fraternity. He interned at Grady Hospital in Atlanta and Shreveport Charity Hospital in Shreveport, La. In 1925, he began practice in Roscoe, Texas, later moving to Mississippi and Alabama. He married Opal Chumley of Bronte June 14, 1926. He had resided in Sterling City since 1930. He had served on the Shannon Medical Staff (obstetrics) and had worked with several surgeons there. He was active in the Methodist Church. He was a charter member and past president of the Tom Green Eight-County Medical Society, and a life member of the Concho Valley Medical Society, as well as life member of the Texas Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Family Physicians and was an honorary editor for the journal FAMILY PHYSICIAN. He also was associated with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Dr. Swann was a member of the Sterling County Hospital and Nursing Home Board, a district medical adviser to the Boy Scouts of America, a volunteer medical examiner for the Selective Service during World War II, a member, past master and 50-year Mason of the Sterling Lodge, a member of the Royal Arch Masonic Lodge, and the Lions Club. He served as county health officer. He practiced medicine in Sterling County until he retired in 1987. By Texas State Senate Proclamation, he was declared a treasured citizen of his town and state on the occasion of his 91st birthday. In 1980, he was honored in Sterling City for 50 years of service to the community. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal. Survivors include his son, William J.
