My Hero I can still see her sewing some clothes for me. Her hands run so smoothly while she is sewing. I can hear her voice singing to the soft song I play on the piano. I smell her perfume. It smells like wild roses blooming. I can feel her hands doing my hair. Not one strand pulled or out of place. I can taste her homemade, fresh tortillas. All this makes me wish she were here and not so far away. She is always there when I need her to teach me more. She lives so far away, but I can feel her cheer me up. When I am down, she encourages good thoughts. She is also very giving. My hero is my Nana Herminia. But for short we call her Nana Mini. She makes me feel my age, not as if I am two.Poem by granddaughter, Natalie Arrieta RALPH MEDLIN Ralph Medlin, 88, of San Angelo died Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, in Columbia Medical Center. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. - Psalm 37:5. God looked around his garden And found an empty space. He then looked down upon this earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best. He knew that you were in pain. He knew you would never get well On this earth again. He saw the roads getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So he closed your weary eyelids and Whispered in your ear, ``Peace be thine.'' It broke our hearts to lose you; But you did not go alone. For part of us went with you The day God called you home. HELEN M. SELBY BALLINGER - Helen M.
