Mr. Cardwell was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Comanche County to C.B. and Johnnie Gerganess Cardwell. He married Nattie Louise Bowers April 16, 1943, in Comanche. Joe served in the Army Air Corps during World War II where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Purple Heart. Mr. Cardwell was widely known for his store, ``Joe's Grocery'' that he owned and operated on Beauregard Avenue for 26 years. Joe was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Cardwell in 1985 and wife, Nattie Louise Cardwell in 1991. Evert never met a stranger and loved people. Evert was preceded in death by two brothers, Slim Spivey and Guy Spivey; two sisters, Velma Harvey and Loma Nicholson; and a granddaughter, Cristi Edmonson. JOAQUIN Q. SABLAN Joaquin Q. ``Kenny'' Sablan passed away at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, in Shannon Medical Center-St. John's Campus. Mr. Sablan was born March 1, 1931, in Agana, Guam, to Jose B. and Tomasa Quichocho Sablan. Mr. Sablan served in the Air Force 23 years, retiring at the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Sablan worked in civil service at Goodfellow Air Force Base for more than 10 years. While in the Air Force, Mr. Sablan received the Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Sablan was stationed at numerous bases in Japan and Turkey, as well as in the United States. Mr. Sablan married Saragosa ``Sally'' L. Juarez on Nov. 1, 1964. They had twin sons born on July 7, 1965. Mr. Sablan was very active in Boy Scouts with his sons throughout their school years.
