Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with the Rev. Paul Terry of San Angelo officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville. Mildred was born on July 10, 1916, in Cuero, Texas, to Samuel Edward and Florence Norris. After the deaths of her parents, she was raised by her beloved grandmother, Emmie Le Sage Dinter. Mildred was valedictorian of the Cuero High School Class of 1932. She attended Our Lady of the Lake University and Northern Montana College. Mildred married John Robert (Speedy) Williams in Bandera on Jan. 31, 1934. In addition to being a model Border Patrol wife, Mildred taught school in Eagle Pass and San Ignacio, Texas. She worked as a hospital administrator in Havre, Mont., and as a health administrator at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory in Livermore, Calif. She is survived by her husband, John (Speedy) of San Angelo; four children, Mary Sam York and husband, Joe, of Brackettville, John Williams Jr. and wife, Mary Margaret, of Marfa, Betsy Himmel and husband, Ed, of Fort Worth, Thomas Tot Williams and wife, Corie, of San Angelo; two cousins, Flo Lindner of Comfort and Katie Doran of Corsicana; one nephew, Jack Gentry of Marble Falls; seven grandchildren, Dr. Hoby Biedermann and Brenda Cavness of San Angelo, Craig Biedermann of Paint Rock, Betsy Choate of De Soto, Meghan Williams of Georgetown, J.R. MAUREEN ELLEN CHRISTENSEN Maureen Ellen Christensen, 62, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at 2 a.m. in Shannon's Women's and Children's Center, surrounded by family, friends and a compassionate, nurturing nursing staff. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Johnsons Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with the Rev. Maurice Voity and the Rev. Maureen was born Nov. 7, 1935, in New York City, N.Y., to William and Eileen Rolston, both of whom have preceded her in death. She will be remembered for many things, not the least of which was her compassion and availability to her family and friends. She will also be remembered for her devotion to her community through her many hours of volunteer service. Throughout her 25 years in San Angelo, Maureen has worked with, among others, the Rape Crisis Council, Angelo Civic Theatre, Holy Angels Church, Angelo Catholic School and the Diocesan Schools Commission, serving on various boards and in various capacities. Maureen is survived by her husband of 33 years, Edward, of San Angelo; three daughters, Jennifer Eileen, 30, of Denton, Karen Alice, 28, of Los Angeles and Laura Irene, 23, of San Angelo; and one brother, William of New City, N.Y. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses on the second and third floors of the hospital where Maureen spent her final days. Their care, concern and consideration made her departure from us a comfortable and restful one. In addition, the family would like to express thanks to our friends who gave of their time and energy to care for her and us during this time. YOLA BLANCHE SLOAN HUNT BARR ELDORADO - Yola Blanche Sloan Hunt Barr, 100, of Eldorado passed from this life on Sunday, March 15, 1998. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 1998, in Eldorado Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Blanche was born Dec. 15, 1897, in Tecumseh, Okla., to Thomas and Laura Sloan. She was one of six children. After her mother's death when Blanche was nine years old, she cared for her four younger sisters. Blanche married Lee Hunt on Sept. 3, 1915. They had eight children and lived in Menard County for many years. They moved to Wichita Falls in 1941, and Lee passed away in 1947. Blanche married Bill Barr in 1950, and he passed away in 1954. While in Wichita Falls she became a member of the Pentecostal Church. She moved to Eldorado in 1972, and spent most of the rest of her life there. Her descendants include 26 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 40 great- great-grandchildren; nine great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche loved the Lord and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren would listen in awe to her stories of hardship and of happy times in her life. Her stories would include memories of the Oklahoma Land Rush, the sinking of the Titanic, the first time women were allowed to vote and the first car and airplane she ever saw or rode in. No matter how difficult her circumstances, she was always generous and found a way to help other people. She kept a sense of humor and looked for the good in everything. Her favorite saying was ``Only one life twill soon be past, only what's done for God will last.'' She often said she had hoped that when she grew old she would be a ``little old gray headed woman that everybody loved.'' Although she never admitted it her wish came true, she was dearly loved by her family and friends. Family preceding her in death include daughters, Margaret Nixon and Dora Mather. Survivors include five daughters, Leota Nixon of Eldorado, Vala Bryant of Atlanta, Iowa, Jo Nell Muir of Kerrville, Trudi West of Wichita Falls and Sue Carter of San Ramon, Calif.; a son, Dan Hunt of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and a sister, Edna Porter of Oklahoma City. LOLA LEE FISHEL MOOS Lola Lee Fishel Moos, 81, of San Angelo passed away Sunday, March 15, 1998, after an extended illness. Lola was born April 28, 1916, in Winters to Rosa Lee and Richard Clay Fishel. She married K.J. Moos on Aug. 1, 1936, and they had five children. A dedicated Christian, Lola was a loving wife and mother and taught kindergarten and Bible school and served as coordinator of the Beginner Department at the Church of Christ for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Lee Moos and Joyce K. Keilers. She is survived by her husband, K.J. During the eight years she worked for this association, she lived in Del Rio, San Angelo, Fort Stockton and Sonora. In 1945 she married Louie Trainer, who was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base. After the service years, they moved back to Sonora and owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly Store and Sonora Food Locker. Metha worked in most community clubs: music clubs, women's clubs and Girl Scouts. She served as secretary-treasurer of the First United Methodist Church from 1972 until 1989. She was chairman of the Memorial Committee at the time of her death. She also was very active in the Hospital Auxiliary, serving all offices, and at the time of her death was still acting treasurer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie; and by her daughter, Terry Dockal. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Jamie Trainer of Tucson; one grandson, Louis Edward Smith; and nephews and nieces in San Angelo and College Station. He passed away in 1963, after which she returned to San Angelo. She was employed by the San Angelo Independent School District until her retirement. Billie enjoyed being a senior volunteer as well as assisting with the Salvation Army's Christmas doll charity. As an active member of Edmund Boulevard Baptist Church, she gave much effort toward support and comfort of nursing home residents. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Deane; two sisters, Christine Boyd and Lila Branham; and a special friend, Thurman Allard. He was a Christian and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Doss Bible Class. Shorty and Lucy were members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Coleman where he served on the official board. He was employed for most of his working life as a rural lineman and built electric lines in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. After moving to Coleman in 1953, he was employed with Coleman County Electric Co-op and was the Ballinger area lineman from 1959 until 1981 when he retired. Shorty was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Lucy; a son, Robert H. ``Bobby'' Wilson of Coleman and his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Martha Gail Beimer, and son-in-law, Daniel, of Ballinger. He also is survived by two granddaughters, two grandsons, two grandsons-in-law and one granddaughter-in-law. They are Elizabeth Schafferand Dr. Andrew Schaffer of Arlington, Melissa and Shawn Wade of Lubbock, Anthony Beimer of McKinney and Christopher Wilson and Elizabeth of Santee, Calif. DEAN WILMER BENNETT Dean Wilmer Bennett, 73, of San Angelo died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at his residence. Dean was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Macon County, Ill., to Wilmer and Nellie Roberts Bennett and had been a resident of San Angelo since 1950. Dean was married to Yvonne Skelly of April 10, 1948, in Decatur, Ill. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1996. He also was preceded in death by his parents. Dean was nominated and awarded the Charles Taylor ``Master Mechanic'' Award by the FAA in 1994. He had 50 plus years of commitment to the aviation maintenance industry. His absolute professional integrity had been a testament to his reputation as a rare breed of skilled craftsmen that are so uncommon in this day and age. In 1941, he finished high school in Argenta, Ill., and enrolled in an aviation maintenance school in Nashville, Tenn. When World War II broke out, he was drafted as a mechanic in the Army Air Corps, where he eventually ended up as crew chief on B 29s in the Pacific Theatre. During the Korean War he was recalled in the service as a quality control technician on B 25s stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo. He had been employed as a mechanic with an FAA ``inspection authorization'' and as a pilot with numerous types of ratings. He remained in San Angelo where he worked for a local FBO for several years, eventually buying his own company and flying charter service. After a brief leave to fly corporate aircrafts, he once again opened a maintenance facility bearing his name, Bennett Aviation. Some of his accomplishments including restoring a PT-17 stearman that won first place in Oshkosh. He also restored a Ryan PT-22 to show quality, and holds an STC for installing a Lycoming Tierra engine in a stearman airframe. He has constructed several ``homebuilts'' and assisted on many more. He is survived by his children, Cecilia Allen and husband, Bob, Betty Nelms, Gordon Bennett and wife, Carol, MaryLynn Nelms and husband, Mickey, Donna Behringer and husband, Jim, Karl Bennett and wife, Michelle, all of San Angelo, and Anne Rabourn and husband, Stuart, of Euless; 11 grandchildren, Kevin Allen, Amber Allen, Jared Bennett, Chase Bennett, Casey Rabourn, Coleman Rabourn, Cody Nelms, Chris Nelms, B.J. Bill attended school in Rowena and Ballinger, excelling in athletics. His great love of the outdoors - hunting, fishing and sports - continued until he became ill. He worked for 50 years as a master electrician. Bill grew up in a time when you gave a day's work for a day's pay, a man's word was his bond, and a handshake was an ironclad contract. And the vows taken in love were forever. He is survived by his wife, Emma B. O'Quinn Cervenka of the home; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bill (Lynda J.) He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ballinger and the Men's Bible Class. He was a Master Mason in the Ballinger Masonic Lodge and a member for 54 years. He was awarded the Golden Trowel Award in 1992, the highest award that a Masonic Lodge can bestow on a member and the first ever given by the Ballinger Lodge. He was proficient in teaching all facets of Masonry for more than 40 years. Marvin is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Ballinger; a son, Bobby Bird of Austin; a sister, Fannie Bowden of Houston; and a brother, Charles Bird of Perrin. LESLIE AMANDA LANE PFLUGERVILLE - Leslie Amanda Lane, beloved daughter and sister, died suddenly on March 19, 1998, in a tragic accident. She was born on May 6, 1982, and was a lifelong resident of Austin and Wells Branch. Leslie was an honor student at McNeil High School, where she was a member of the golf team, the Spanish Club and the Spanish National Honor Society. She loved sports, over the years, she had been involved in several athletic activities, including the Wells Branch Swim Team and Round Rock Soccer. She loved country music and her friends. Her association with the golf team was especially meaningful, and she loved it dearly. Antonio Enriquez Sr. STANTON - Antonio Enriquez Sr., 74, of Stanton died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in a Midland hospital. Rosaries will be at 8 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements are by Gilbreath Funeral Home. He was born March 19, 1924, in Durango, Mexico, and had lived in Stanton since 1960. He was a farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Enriquez of Stanton; a son, Antonio Enriquez Jr. of Midland; a daughter, Maria Enriquez of Stanton; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Maria Villa of Stanton; three sons, Clemente Villa Jr. and Robert Villa, both of Stanton, and Juan Villa of Austin; three daughters, Gloria Marquez of Stanton, Linda Ornelas of Midland and Dora Logan of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Manuel Villa of Stanton; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Roy Builta KERRVILLE - Roy A. Builta, 90, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Pipe Creek Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Blackburn; daughters, Leisa Rice of Poteet, Mickie Gray of Poteet and Lynette Hasty of San Angelo; sister, June Slagle of Arden, N.C.; grandsons, Paul Blackburn, John Gray Jr., Joseph Blackburn, James Gray, Clayton Hasty and granddaughter, Taylor Hasty. He was retired from the United States Air force and employed by Information Systems and Networks Corp. Visitation was at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 14. WILLIAM EARL `BILL' POUNDS William Earl ``Bill'' Pounds passed away Saturday, March 21, 1998, at the age of 82, at Shannon Medical Center. He was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Glenwood, Ark., to William Isaac Pounds and Callie Watson Pounds. He married Arah Marie Clements on Aug. 24, 1946, in Longview, Texas. They were married 51 years. Bill attended school in Salem, Ark. In his early years, he established his own trucking business, which hauled lumber. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II, and he was a Disabled American Veteran. He was a member of the Ninth and Main Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Arah Marie; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mitch Freeman of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Grant Travis Freeman and Heather Michelle Freeman; two sisters, Ara Snowden of Hot Springs, Ark., and Louise Kerr of Greenville, S.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Ninth and Main Church of Christ with Leroy Sedgwick officiating. The eulogy will be given by Mitch Freeman, son-in-law. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Proverbs 3:5-6 VICTOR JOHN TROJCAK Victor John Trojcak, 76, of San Angelo passed away Friday, March 20, 1998, at Baptist Memorials Center, after a long battle with cancer. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, in Belvedere Memorial Park with Phil Webber officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Victor was born Feb. 4, 1922, to Adolph and Louise Trojcak in St. John's Community, near Schulenburg, Texas. He was a longtime resident of San Angelo, with most of his childhood days spent in Rowena. Victor served in World War II in the Navy Seabees. After his discharge, he went to work for the Box Planing Mill in San Angelo until 1954, and then Terrill Manufacturing Co., until he retired in 1990. He married Gloria Strakos on July 1, 1978, in San Angelo. Victor was a member of Baptist Temple Church.Victor was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. His main hobby was collecting artifacts, especially arrowheads. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Strakos Trojcak of San Angelo; one son, Robert Clayton Trojcak Sr., and his wife, Bernadette, and their children, Robert C. Trojcak Jr., Danielle Trojcak and Amanda Brady, all of San Angelo; one daughter, Vicki S. Loika and her son, Aaron Loika, and his wife, Sheri, all of San Angelo; two stepsons, Dany Strakos and his wife, Shirley, of San Angelo, Rob Strakos and his wife, Jo, and their two sons of San Angelo; two stepdaughters, Dianne Fussell and her husband, Jim, and their three daughters of Ohio, Sylvia Andes and her husband, Herb, of Florida; two brothers, Adolph and George Trojcak of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by his mother; father; one sister, Julie Eggemeyer; and one brother, Joe Trojcak.
