Dutch was born on June 29, 1919, in McKinney, Texas, to Homer and Lena Gerngross Voelkel. They moved to Ballinger when he was 11 months old and joined the St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, giving him the longest tenure of any active member. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1938 and joined the U.S. Army in November of 1940. He married Evelyn Hill on Jan. 3, 1953, in Ballinger. Dutch was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 40 years before retiring on Feb. 3, 1984. He worked for a time with the Evergreen Cemetery Association and spent the last 12 years working with Rains-Seale Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Ballinger; his son, Gary Voelkel of San Angelo; his daughters, Brenda Smith and her husband, Randy, and Susan Hibbitts and her husband, Kerry, all of Abilene; and four grandchildren, Adrea, Kara, Shelby and Rogan. Pat and her husband, Lew, were high school sweethearts at Iraan High School, graduating in 1949. They were married on Sept. 3, 1951, while students at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. Pat was a model of grace, and she was a wonderful generous wife, mother, sister, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She was a living demonstration of the love that God gave us through His son, Jesus. She was selfless, compassionate, loving, thinking only of her family and others, encouraging and always there to help in any way. She was always a reflection of spiritual love and grace. Through her long illness, she had been an unflinching example of faith in God, knowing that all things work together for good to those who love God. As she was an angel on earth, she is now an angel in heaven. Pat was an accomplished pianist who could not play for the past 14 years because of her illness. She is now playing joyfully for our Father in heaven. The words of the song ``Wind Beneath My Wings'' are very appropriate to describe Pat. ``Did you ever know that you're my hero and everything I'd like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings. Pat is survived by her husband, Lew, of the home; two daughters, Linda L. Thomas and her husband, Carl, and Laura L. Pat and her husband, Lew, were high school sweethearts at Iraan High School, graduating in 1949. They were married on Sept. 3, 1951, while students at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. Pat was a model of grace, she was a wonderful generous wife, mother, sister, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She was a living demonstration of the love that God gave us through his son, Jesus. She was selfless, compassionate, loving, thinking only of her family and others, encouraging and always there to help in any way. She was always a reflection of spiritual love and grace. Through her long illness, she had been an unflinching example of faith in God, knowing that all things work together for good, to those who love God. As she was an angel on earth, she is now an angel in heaven. Pat was an accomplished pianist who could not play for the past 14 years because of her illness. She is now playing joyfully for our father in heaven. The words of the song ``Wind Beneath My Wings'' are very appropriate to describe Pat. ``Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I'd like to be. I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.'' Pat is survived by her husband, Lew, of the home; two daughters, Linda L. Thomas and her husband, Carl, and Laura L. Ranch operations of Comanche and Runnels counties. He was a director of the Texas Hereford Association, and was inducted into the Hereford Hall of Fame with the American Hereford Association. He was active in other local, state and national organizations, ranging from local school board member to participation in Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Comanche, where he especially enjoyed his association with the men of his Sunday school class. Mr. Dudley was married to Grace E. Lacy on Oct. 6, 1945, in Abilene. He is survived by his wife, Grace (Lacy) Dudley; four sons, Claude Dudley of Arizona and Tom R. Dudley, Ray Dudley and Harry Dudley, all of Comanche; one sister, Faye Belle Evans of Comanche; eight grandsons; and two granddaughters. She is survived by her daughters, Renee Abraham of Lubbock and Debbie Wooten of Midland; her mother, Eva Moore of Snyder; her sister, Janelle Pollard of Snyder; her granddaughters, Shannon Wood of Dallas, Rachel Wood of Lubbock, Lindsey Wood of Midland and Alex Abraham of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Price died at her home in Midland Monday, March 30, 1998. Family visitation will be Tuesday, March 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Sidney Walker Moore Jr., 75, of San Angelo died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in a local hospital. Military graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Navasota. A veteran of World War II, he was an executive housekeeper at Angelo State University for 21 years. Survivors include two daughters, Edith Moore and Yvonne Moore; a son, Sidney Moore III; nine grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. He will be missed by all his friends and was a well-liked person. WALTER WILLIAM PAUL Walter William Paul was born Sept. 3, 1911, at Walling in Hill County to Frederick and Marguerete Paul, both German immigrants. He was the eighth of 10 children. Walter passed from this life at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the age of 86 years and seven months. Walter was raised on the family farm a few miles south of Jourdanton in Atascosa County. He was affectionately known to his south Texas friends and relatives as ``Black'' or ``Blackie'' and to his co-workers with Sun Oil Company as ``W.W.'' W.W. started working for Sun Oil Co. in Freer in 1937. There he met and married Louise Young on March 15, 1941. Walter was drafted into the U.S. Army in May 1941 and served until September of 1945. He served in the 1st Platoon, Company D of the 23rd Armored Combat Engineers of the 3rd Armored Division. He saw action in Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and throughout Germany. He earned the European Campaign Medal with five Bronze Campaign Stars as well as the Purple Heart. After the war, Walter and Louise moved to Premont and started their family with the births of Bill and Larry. They moved to Silver in Coke County in April of 1950. Although the Pauls later moved to Colorado City in 1966, W.W. continued to work for Sun Oil in the Silver area until he retired in 1977 after 40 years of service with the company. Walter and Louise resided in Colorado City for 27 years. The Pauls moved to the San Angelo area in 1994. At the time of his passing, Walter and Louise resided at Baptist Memorials Retirement Center. Walter was a member of the Robert Lee Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club. Those who knew W.W. knew him as a proud parent, an unflinching patriot and a fine dancer. He loved a good steak, a cold beer, Bob Wills music and a big laugh, especially if it was on a Democrat! Walter is survived by his wife, Louise, of San Angelo; and two sons, Bill and his wife, Mary, of Liberty Hill and Larry and his wife, Jane, of Carlsbad, N.M. He had four grandchildren, Lindsey Paul of Liberty Hill and Taylor, Allen and Ben of Carlsbad. He was a devoted husband and father; always interested in any project his sons were involved in. He will be remembered as a good and dedicated employee of Sun Oil and a proud parent. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Patrick, chaplain at Baptist Memorials, officiating. Military graveside service will follow in the Robert Lee Cemetery. DOROTHY FAUST WILHA Dorothy Faust Wilha, 72, of San Angelo died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at 8:45 p.m. at her home after a lengthy illness. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Paul Terry, chaplain of Hospice of San Angelo. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Dorothy was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Burleson County to Frank and Frances Faust. She was a retired employee of Ethicon Inc. and was a member of PaulAnn Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Wyman Wilha of Eldorado and Gene Wilha of San Angelo; three daughters, Frances Sue Wilha, Rebecca Middleton and Dottie Russell, all of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Moody Faust of Snook and Marvin Faust of Arizona; and one sister, Judy Pettinger of Graham, Wash. The family requests that any memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo. AUGUST GEORGE LOHSE August George Lohse, 82, of San Angelo died Sunday, March 29, 1998, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in Fairmount Cemetery with Dr. David Womack officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mr. Lohse was born June 15, 1915, in Rockdale. He was a self- employed trader and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lohse of San Angelo; four stepchildren, Sharron McMillan of Arlington, and Janie Thurman, Larry Thurman and Rita Beauchamp, all of San Angelo; six stepgrandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Willie Jean Lohse. August was dearly loved and will be dearly missed. LILLIE GLOVER Lillie Glover, 84, of San Angelo passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998, in a local hospital. Service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Berthold, minister of Chadbourne North Church of Christ officiating. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. in Lake View Cemetery in Winters. Lillie was born March 21, 1914, in Graham County and was a resident ofSan Angelo since 1952. She was a homemaker and a member of Chadbourne North Church of Christ. Lillie was married to Elder Truis (Shorty) Glover on Aug. 30, 1947, in Ballinger. He preceded her in death in May 1973.
