Obituaries EVA ROSSER Eva Rosser peacefully slipped from this life and safely into the arms of God on Wednesday, April 22, 1998. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Baptist Temple Church with the Rev. Neal Brillhart of San Angelo and Dr. A.V. Henderson of Arlington officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Born Feb. 11, 1911, in Quanah, Texas, to Fannie and Wylie Chamberlain, Eva moved with her family to San Angelo in 1914. The streets of downtown San Angelo became her playground as her parents ran a boarding house and cafe where the Coca-Cola offices now stand. Her childhood stories spoke of horse-drawn wagons on brick streets, Model T Fords and school days at North Ward, now known as Reagan Elementary. One of her most interesting stories of her childhood was hearing a small child's continuous cries as she played on the sidewalks of Chadbourne Street. Squeezing between two wooden buildings, she discovered a small toddler in a room by himself. After observing the little boy all day and no one returning to see him, Eva could stand it no longer. She crawled through the open window, got the child and carried him to her mother. After contacting the authorities and discovering that the mother had abandoned the 18-month-old child, Eva's family officially adopted him and he was raised as her brother, J.D. There were two events Eva always counted as the most wonderful days of her life. The first in 1929, when at Park Heights Baptist Church, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. The second on Nov. 1, 1935, when she married her lifelong love, Wade Rosser. In 1942, Eva and Wade brought Weldon into the world to fulfill their life with joy and in 1944, the family was completed when Shirley was born. Life was centered on serving the Lord and caring for her family. She was a living testimony of God's love. Eva always felt she was especially blessed with having the greatest daughter-in-law and son-in-law in the world. Weldon's wife, Pug, always held a special place in Eva's heart and was loved like a daughter. Eva called David, Shirley's husband, ``Wade's son-in-law'' because she loved his on-going teasing of her. When she was blessed with six grandchildren, Eva's life was once again filled with the joy and laughter of little voices. She delighted in having all of them at the family home on Lake Nasworthy. And now her four great-grandchildren have continued Eva's legacy of loving life and loving the Lord. Eva's last three years were spent at Park Plaza Nursing Center. The family will be forever grateful to Paul and Mark Rabb and all of the staff for their love, care and friendship. They made her last days peaceful and pleasant. Eva leaves behind her children, Weldon and Pug Rosser of Austin and Shirley and David Word of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Staci and Dale Varner of Harlingen, Benni and Brad Fisher of Pleasanton, Waylan and Margaret Rosser of San Antonio, Derrick and Tiina Rosser of Austin and Kandice Barker of Pflugerville; and her pride and joy, her four great-grandchildren, Rikki, Brittany, Joshua and Aspen. Eva is rejoicing in heaven with her husband of 56 years, Wade Rosser, and her grandson, Randall Word. Serving as pallbearers will be Elton Johnson, Greg Economidis, Verlin Oates David Antle, Don Butts and Billy Bice. Memorials may be made to Adult Day Care of San Angelo or Meals for the Elderly. Prayer: The day was long, the burden I had borne seemed heavier than I could longer bear: and then it lifted - but I did not know someone had knelt in prayer; had taken me to God that very hour and asked the easing of the load, and He in infinite compassion had stooped down and taken it from me. Someone had prayed - how often hearts find sudden peace and rest; somewhere a prayer - and Mercy yields lovingly to Faith's request. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- April 29, 1998 Funerals and Death Notices SAN ANGELO - Arlene Marie Gunyon, 46, at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall; burial in St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery; arrangements by Johnson's Funeral Home.
