CHESTER GEUEA ROCKSPRINGS - Chester Geuea, 80, passed away Sunday, June 14, 1998, in Junction after an extensive illness. Chester was born April 26, 1918, in Leakey to Charles and Ellie Geuea. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and was stationed in Florida. He retired from CP&L after 19 years and continued to work as an electrician after retirement. He was a Boy Scouts leader for seven years in Rocksprings and took boys to camp every year. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frankie Geuea of Rocksprings; his children, James Geuea of Dallas, Robert Geuea of Rocksprings, Johnnie Geuea of San Angelo, Shirlene Jacobson of Oklahoma City, and Katherine Sue Kepley and Hatton Geuea, both of California; his brothers and sisters, George Geuea of Granbury, Nora Anderson of Bandera, Alice Hartman and Florence Leinweber, both of Hondo, Helen DeLong of El Cajon, Calif., Jo Nell Leinweber of San Antonio and Vernon Geuea of Pico Rivera, Calif.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. SUTTON ALLISON John Sutton Allison II, 61, of San Angelo passed away on Sunday, June 14, 1998. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Dr. Ron Sutto, pastor, and the Rev. Carl Rohlfs, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, directed by Johnson's Funeral Home. Sutton was born in San Angelo on Jan. 31, 1937, to Jack and Jerry Allison. He graduated from Fort Stockton High School and attended the University of Texas. He ranched in Pecos, Menard and Sutton counties and was well-respected by the ranching community. He had served as president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association, as president of the Wool Growers Central Storage Co. and as a director of Central National Bank. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; two sons, John Sutton Allison III and his wife, Patty, and James Edward Allison, and a daughter, Katherine Brooks and husband, Conoly; four grandchildren, Stefanie, Sutton, Philip and Caroline Allison; one sister, Judy Carpenter and her husband, Charles, of Austin; and his two best friends, Jake and J.J. He loved his family, fishing, camping and his vegetable garden. He loved working with his hands and doing a job well. He preceded her in death April 17, 1992. The couple owned and operated McIntire's Drive In on South Chadbourne Street from 1951 to 1976. In 1989, Woody and Bea celebrated their golden anniversary with a reception in Fort Concho Officers' Quarters No. 8, where they had resided as newlyweds. Bea is survived by her daughter, Louise Jones and husband, Jim, of San Angelo and daughter, Deedie McIntire of Sonora; three grandchildren, Lisa Louise and Nan Kathryn ``Katie'' Jones of Austin and Richard D. ``Rick'' Riley and his wife, Tonia, of San Angelo; two great-grandsons, Michael and Colt Riley of San Angelo; brother, Harley Humphrey and wife, Daphne, of Lake Jackson; special niece, Sally Reibe of San Angelo; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. JACK PERSHING MYERS Jack Pershing Myers, 79, died Monday, June 15, 1998, in Houston. He was born Aug. 23, 1918, to Jessie Mae and Hugh Myers in San Angelo. He graduated in 1936 from San Angelo Senior High School and in 1940 graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in geology. From 1940 to 1943, he was employed by Humble Oil & Refinery Co. and then transferred to Carter Oil Co. until 1948. From 1948 until his retirement, he was employed with Lane Wells Co., which later became Dresser Atlas. Mr. Myers retired in 1983 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Smith Myers; sisters, Pat Johnson, Arabelle Yancy, Margaret Parker, Leah Wykoff and Faye Williams; brothers, Archie and wife, Nettie Myers, Henry and Morgan Myers. Obituaries TERRY DeWAYNE BREWER Terry DeWayne Brewer, 49, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 1998, in Shannon Medical Center. Terry was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Cleburne, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Since October of 1973, he had been a resident of San Angelo and employed as the airport facilities manager at Mathis Field Airport in San Angelo for 12 years. Being a sports fan, he served as an active member of the San Angelo Football Officials Association and as an official with the Southwest Baseball Umpire Association, as well as being a coach. He was on the board of directors for the Lake View Little League. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Joe Brewer of Arlington. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Doris Brewer of San Angelo; his father, J.T. AMY BUSH TUCKNESS MASON - Mary Amy Bush Tuckness died Thursday, June 18, 1998, in Mason Care Center in Mason. She was born June 24, 1907, at Hickory Grove near Pontotoc, to James William and Camilla Agnes Earnest Bush, the third child of the couple. She attended school at Hickory Grove, Castell and Pontotoc. She began her career in mental health care at the state hospital in Austin. She later moved to the San Antonio State Hospital, holding several positions including ward clerk and medications supervisor. She then began work with the Halfway Houses of San Antonio, opening the first three and serving as house mother. Mrs. Tuckness was a lifelong member and strong supporter of the Pontotoc Methodist Church until its closure, at which time her membership was transferred to the First United Methodist Church in Mason. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ross E. Owen in 1961, David A. Webster in 1971 and Amos E. Tuckness in 1984; her brother, Edwin Bush; and her sisters, Nancy Cade, Ruth Needham, Alva Latham and Ila Belle Keith. She was a member of the Prospect Hill Eastern Star in San Antonio. A life membership for long and distinguished service was bestowed upon her Feb. 12, 1987, by the Prospect Hill Chapter. After her retirement, Mrs. Tuckness moved back to her ranch at Hickory Grove where she lived for nearly 10 years. She moved to the Mason Care Center in August 1983. She is survived by her niece, Caroline Latham Ingram; her nephew, the Rev. Billy Bush; other nieces, Kay Keith Wagner and Alva Keith Crocker; great-niece, Shari Latham Clark; a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews; the families of her deceased husbands, as well as many loving friends. TERRY DeWAYNE BREWER Terry DeWayne Brewer, 49, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 1998, in Shannon Medical Center. Terry was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Cleburne, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Since October of 1973, he had been a resident of San Angelo and employed as the airport facilities manager at Mathis Field Airport in San Angelo for 12 years. Being a sports fan, he served as an active member of the San Angelo Football Officials Association and as an official with the Southwest Baseball Umpire Association, as well as being a coach. He was on the board of directors for the Lake View Little League. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Joe Brewer of Arlington. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Doris Brewer of San Angelo; his father, J.T. Brewer and his wife, Mary, of Cleburne; and his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Lee Revell of San Angelo, Cayla and James Madrid of San Angelo and Laurie and Keith Schaeffer of Granbury. Services are pending at McCoy Funeral Home. Obituaries SAVELL LEE SHARP MERIDIAN - Savell Lee Sharp, Col. USAF (ret.), 80, of Iredell, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, in a Waco hospital. Mr. Sharp, the son of Annie and Harry Sharp, was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Sonora. He spent his childhood and received his formal education in Sanderson. He graduated from Sul Ross State University with a BS degree, and his family moved to Sonora. He later earned his M.Ed. from Tarleton State University. While in Sonora, he was director of the high school band. He then served as Sonora city manager and designed the Hudspeth Memorial Hospital. He later became band director of the San Angelo State College Band. He entered the Army Air Corps in December 1940 and served until 1945. He then re-entered the Air Force in 1951 and served until his retirement in July 1967, when he retired to his ranch in Meridian. He earned the following campaign medals: American Defense, Asiatic Pacific with three battle stars; Philippine Campaign, Korean Service Medal; and National Defense Medal with one battle star. His decorations included the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, World War II Victory Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal. He returned to college for his master's degree and taught industrial education in the Cleburne Independent School District for 10 years. In 1991, he entered the real estate business and qualified as a real estate appraiser. This was followed by his state certification and opening of the Sharp Real Estate Appraisal Service from 1991 until 1998. He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as charter commander of the Iredell VFW Post. He later became commander of VFW District 29. He was a member of the San Angelo Concho Lodge, San Angelo Chapter R.A.M. and San Angelo Council R.&S.M. of Texas. He was a life member of the Retired Officers Association, the Dadaelian Foundation and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served as chairman of the Bosque County Appraisal Review Board and was a member and past president of the Bosque County (Clifton) Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife, Dolores ``Dee'' Sharp of Iredell; one stepson and wife, Kermit F. ``Skip'' and Johanna Gombert of New Boston; granddaughters, Anna and Melissa of College Station; one daughter, Deborah Schulz of Lubbock; granddaughters, Dawnette and Stephanie of Lubbock; and one son, Gregory F. MILDRED DAVIS FIELDS OZONA - Mildred Davis Fields passed way Thursday, June 18, 1998, in Ozona. Mrs. Fields was born Sept. 10 to George and Vallie Davis in Knickerbocker and lived there until she was 4 years old, then moved to Ozona, where she spent the rest of her life. She attended Ozona Public Schools and after graduation went to Simmons University. After returning home, she worked for Mr. N.W. Graham in the abstract office and later for Mr. J.L. Littleton in the Ozona National Bank for 25 years. In 1935 she met and married Al Fields, who came to Ozona as manager of C.G. Morrison Co. To this union two children were born - a daughter, Barbara, and a son, Thomas. She spent much time as a room mother, as she enjoyed children. She was a member of the Woman's Forum and several 42 and bridge clubs. She served as president of the PTA and also Band Boosters. She taught Sunday school from the cradle roll to adult women. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and three brothers and two sisters. Lancaster, 87, passed away peacefully from causes incident to age on Friday, June 19, 1998, in the Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on Aug. 5, 1910, in Mereta, a daughter of John Albert and Annie Elizabeth Wienke Malachek. She married Hugh A. Lancaster on Nov. 4, 1933. He passed away on April 15, 1954. She lived all but the last eight months of her life in Texas. After graduation from high school, she attended Draughon's Business College in Abilene. After the death of her husband, she worked many years as a secretary/clerk, primarily in medical offices and hospitals. She enjoyed gardening and was proud of her prize tomatoes. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 66 years. For the last 45 years, she was affiliated with Alice Chapter No. 61, in Alice. She loved her church and was a longtime member of Belmore Baptist Church in San Angelo. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Norman and Janet Lancaster of Brigham City and Hugh Bruce and Linda Lancaster of Abilene; five grandchildren, Nancy Lynn, Alan Dean and Steven Dale of Utah and Jennifer and Aaron Forest of Texas; and six great-grandchildren.
