DICK CLINE On Jan. 6, 1999, the Lord requested that Richard Dean Cline, master woodworker, come home to help build the mansion that he has waiting for us. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Rev. John Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Richard Dean ``Dick'' Cline was born to Kenneth and Nellie Cline in Coldwater, Kan., on Dec. 3, 1927. He grew up in his grandfather's workshop, watching and learning a skill that would last a lifetime. His beautiful lathe work can be found in the homes, offices and churches of those he loved and whose lives he touched. Dick graduated from Coldwater High School in 1944. He had been a member of the football and diving teams, choir and National Honor Society. After high school, he served honorably with the United States Army Air Corps in Japan. Upon his return from the military, he went to work for Northern Natural Gas until his retirement in 1984. On June 27, 1950, he married the love of his life, his best friend, Dorotha Bremmer. For the past 48 years, Dick and Dorotha had shared their love, their children, woodwork and each other. Dick and Dorotha had seven children and 16 grandchildren. They include Richard and Donna Cline, Morgan, Erik and Henry of Oklahoma City, Michael and Cindy Cline, Gabriel, Michelle, Maida and Walker of Lincoln, Neb., Kenneth and Connie Cline, Alethia and Houston of Somonauk, Ill., Terri and Lyle Pfannenstiel, Will, Chris and Sarah of Udall, Kan., Rita Cline, Amber and Aaron Wade of San Angelo, Ron Cline of Odessa, Dedee Cline of San Angelo, James and Rebecca Cline of San Angelo, and RyAnn and Suzanne Cline of Boulder, Colo. Dick's love of learning and value for education resulted in all of his children earning college degrees and all of their grandchildren striving toward degrees and educations of their own. His woodworking talent allowed Dick to impact the lives of many children. He taught many young drivers how to build and race soapbox derby cars. He also sponsored many teams, organizations and events for youth. Dick moved to San Angelo upon his retirement in 1984 because of its lakes and people. He was an active officer of the Lake Nasworthy Association. Dick also used his retirement to work on the wooden creations for which he was known and admired. Our family asks only that each of you, upon your arrival in heaven, take a moment to look around and admire the woodwork that he will have waiting to show us. The Lord has a special love for carpenters, just as we have a special love for our husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor and friend. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to West Texas Boys Ranch. Wood ... From the earth beneath our feet, there grows a tree. We can take it, shape it to what it's meant to be. He gently closed your weary eyes and took you in His care. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts. Your memory is our keepsake, and with that we'll never part. God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, ``Come with Me.'' With tearful eyes we watched you surrender and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- January 9, 1999 Funerals and Death Notices TODAY SAN ANGELO - Billie Jean Arthur Beck, 70, at 11 a.m. in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel; burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Inez also is survived by her sisters, Mae Etta Starks and Doretha Allen, both of San Angelo; one sister-in-law, Maggie Allen of Dallas; her brother, Andrew Lee and his wife, Betty Allen, of Oakland, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews, Sherry Takeall, Margaret Hall, Claudia Conway, Alice Allen, Vicki Owens, Alta Davis, Patricia Young, Beverly young, Ulinda Young, Mary Brown, William Jackson, Audrie Allen, Jackie Allen, Johnny Allen and Genester Owens. Inez also leaves to mourn her ``other'' children, Kenneth Crain of San Angelo and Susan Crain of Mertzon, Kelli Crain of Ingram, Kacy Crain of Alpine, Kay Wojtek of Fredericksburg, Buzz Wojtek and Little Bill Kohutek, both of San Angelo; her dear friends, Al and Amy Pettit; Dr. and Mrs. Vayden Stanley, Mrs. Vic Wojtek, Janis Hollway, Jay Burkett, P.E. Haden; many other dear friends; and her church family of Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. M.E. Robinson. Inez worked all of her life. She was a cook for the 7-10 Cafeteria, La Louisiann and for years was the manager of El Charro Motel. But her favorite work was caring for the terminally ill. Those special friends were Ann Kohutek, Ora Carter, and her brother, Johnnie B. Allen. These patients were under the care of Hospice of San Angelo. Inez worked with Hospice through the supervision of nurse, Nonie Elizondo, and Dr. John Hunt. Inez was very proud of the service that Hospice provided for so many people. Inez's goal in life was to take care of the sick people and to help anyone in need. Inez always said that if the Lord just let her do one good deed a day, she would be satisfied. Inez did not work only because she had to; she cared for everyone for whom she worked. Inez always will be remembered for the many sweet letters and cards that she sent to her friends with her special closing thought, ``Just remember God loves you and so do I, very much.'' Please God My children are grown now and I have wonderful grown grandchildren and lovely great-grandchildren; I love them all. But please, God, let me remember that I have lived, loved and enjoyed this life. Do not let me take away their enjoyment by the many aches and pains I have had. I have earned them all. Thank you, Lord, for letting me hear all of the fun and happiness they have had. Thank you, Lord, for letting my children be friends to me, aswell as being my children. I hope and pray when I am going, that I will be united with my precious mother, father, sisters and brother, all of my children, and my sweet white baby, Angela Wojtek. To my great-grandchildren, Bianca, Schuylor, Jarrett and I'Rosha; to my sweet children, Bessie, Aubrey, Rhonda, Keith, Nikki, Aubrey Jr. and Andrae; my wonderful sisters, Mae Etta Starks and Doretha Allen; my brother, Andrew Lee Allen; my ''other'' children, Kenneth Crain, Susan Crain, Kay Wojtek, Buzz Wojtek, Little Bill Kohutek, and Kelli and Kacy Crain and to all of my other friends, I have no regrets for leaving this sinful world. Please, I do not want you to cry or fret; you all have shown me the love and friendship that you all could give to one person. I am so thankful to the good Lord for all of my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and for all of my friends for being so patient with me. To my pastor, Reverend Robinson, I am grateful for all of the blessings he has bestowed upon me and my family. Smile and love each other. God loves you and so do I very much. God has you in His keeping; we have you in our hearts, Your memory is our keepsake, and with that we'll never part. God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be, So, He put His arms around you and whispered, ``Come with Me.'' With tearful eyes we watched you surrender, and saw you fade away, Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unless otherwise stated, all material is copyright of the San Angelo Standard- Times.
