They were married on May 11, 1940, and worked side by side for 59« years. A special talent he realized as a young boy was horse and dog training. He also enjoyed many years of coon hunting with family and friends. He loved being outdoors with nature. Eldred lived in Bronte for 54 years. No one left Nanny's home unfed or unloved. She provided for all who needed a helping hand. She was a faithful member of the Harris and Irving and Johnson Street Churches of Christ for more than 70 years, where she worked primarily with the nursery-aged children. She was loved by all who knew her and idolized by her grandchildren, and many small animals that became her lot to care for.
