Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. ``Tommy T'' was born March 8, 1942, and lived in San Angelo. ``Tommy T'' lived his life to the fullest. He was very gifted in his ceramic art and was blessed with many friends. ``Tommy T'' was preceded in death by his father, Roy Thigpen and brother, Billy Roy Thigpen. He is survived by his mother, Adeline Thigpen; three brothers, Edward ``Bud'' Thigpen and wife, Charlie, Alvin Thigpen and wife, Jerry, and Jimmie Thigpen and wife, Jeannie; many nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Debbie. CARL WILLIAM BADEN MIDLAND - Carl William Baden, 92, died peacefully at Baptist Memorials Center in San Angelo at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11, 1999. Carl was born on Sept. 1907, in Independence, Kan., and attended Zion Lutheran School in Independence and Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Neb. He was employed by an affiliate of Standard Oil Co. of Indiana, working for it in Wewoka and Tulsa, Okla.; North Cowden, Greggton, Longview, Abilene and Fort Worth, before moving to Midland, Texas, in 1959. He worked for Magpegasus Credit Union and `M' System Food Stores in Midland after he retired. Later in life he performed many hours of volunteer work at Hospice and Midland Memorial Hospital. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 3000 West Golf Course Road, Midland, Texas, with Pastors Donald Hafemann and Philip Konz officiating. Survivors include his three sons, Dr. Robert C. and wife, Dr. Marian, of Orange, Calif., Thomas W. and wife, Betty, of San Angelo and Dr. Donald J. and wife, Elaine, of Glen Carbon, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Brent Baden, Brenda Smith, Daniel Baden, Corwin Baden, Erik Baden, Karla Scott, Kyle Baden, Christine Reinagel, Mark Baden and David Baden; and 11 great-grandchildren, Graham, Clair, Mackenzie, Larkin, Ramsey, Carmen, Tiffany, Jacqueline, Andrew, David and Madelyn. He also is survived by three sisters, Clara Koehler, Gertrude Polzien and Ruth Linde; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. He was an active church member all his life, including Grace Lutheran and Holy Cross Lutheran in Midland. He was instrumental in founding Immanuel Lutheran Church of Rankin, Texas, where he and his wife served in lay ministry for nine years. He loved his church, family, work, friends, yardwork and gardening, shelling pecans, golfing and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He contributed to numerous charities, including three Lutheran universities: Concordia-Seward, Neb., Concordia-Austin, Texas, and Concordia-Irvine, Calif. The family wishes to thank all the caring people connected with Baptist Memorials in San Angelo for their compassionate care this past year. Born June 1, 1911, in Milan County to Clara Bozeman Love and Philip Love she was a graduate of Baylor University and received her master's degree from Texas Technological University and did post graduate work at the University of Texas in Austin and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. Elva Love married Robert Dobson in 1930. Her first teaching position was professor of English at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview from 1948 to 1957. She was later a professor of English at Howard Payne University from 1957 until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Dobson was a member of the American Association of University Women, Daughters of the American Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Texas Association of Teachers of Creative Writing. She was published in ``Fiction and Poetry by Texas Women.'' Mrs. Dobson and her husband moved to Baptist Memorials Center in 1984. Dr. Dobson died in 1995. Mrs. Dobson was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Appleby of Fort Worth and Beth Jameson-Leiker of Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Shortly thereafter, they moved back to Eldorado and built and operated West Texas Woolen Mills until it was sold in 1963. Even though she had been away from Georgia since the '30s, you could still hear a trace of her Georgia accent. She was a talented musician and was organist at the First Baptist Church in Eldorado for many years. Mary was an avid and competitive duplicate-bridge player and traveled around the state playing in tournaments. Mary is survived by her son, Joe Charles and wife, Judy, of Eldorado; grandchildren, Anne Michelle Christian of Denver, Joseph Michael Christian and wife, Heather, of Norman, Okla.; and her constant companion, ``Miss Dollie.'' She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Muller in 1997. She came to Sterling City at the age of 17. She met and married Luis T. Bernal Jr. on June 19, 1952. They resided in Sterling City and lived a long and happy life together of 47 years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Luis T. He was a small business owner in Houston for many years and then came back to Carlsbad and took care of his mother for the last 18 years. He loved to visit with friends and lend a helping hand to anyone. Jimmy had a host of friends that loved him and will greatly miss his company. HANK THOMPSON BIG SPRING - Dr. Hank Thompson, 70, of Big Spring passed away at 3:07 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland following a sudden illness. He was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Halfway, Ore., and was the son of Earl and Bille Keyes Thompson. He married Betty Jo Greener Feb. 9, 1952, in El Paso. Dr. Thompson was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a forward observer in the Army Artillery. He was a commissioned officer and received the Bronze Star. In 1951, he graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor of science in range management. He graduated from Colorado State University with a doctor of veterinary medicine in 1967. Dr. Thompson began his profession as a veterinarian in Clarendon in 1967. In 1968, he moved to Big Spring and purchased the Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Howard Schwarzenbach and established Western Hills Animal Clinic. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners and Texas General Practitioners. He was a longtime member of the Big Spring Rodeo Cowboy Reunion. Dr. Thompson was awarded Man of the Year by the Texas Agriculture Association and received the Upjohn Award for proficiency in large animal medicine at Colorado State University. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Thompson of Big Spring; two daughters, Nancy Thompson of San Francisco and Terri Chustz and her husband, Tony, of Midlothian; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Patti Thompson of Longview and Tom and Karla Thompson of San Angelo; four grandsons, Jason and Zachary Chustz and Collin and Trent Thompson; one sister, Sandi Shore of La Grande, Ore.; two nieces and two nephews.
