Arrangements are by Preddy Funeral Home. Alice Marie Rhodes was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Grand Junction, Colo., the second child of Bob and Edna Rhodes. Her 6-year-old sister thought she looked like Alice in Wonderland and so insisted she be named Alice. As she grew, she came to prefer being called Marie. On Feb. 21, 1945, Marie married Harvey J. Walker in Denver. They lived, loved and laughed together for the next 36 years in Denver, in Los Alamos, N.M., and finally in Ozona. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1981. Although she was mother to only one child, Marie instinctively understood small children's minds and hearts. Her chief career was as a homemaker, but she taught little ones in Sunday school for many years, and her daughter's friends always felt welcome in her home. Marie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Ozona, where she remained active until failing health prevented her.
