ROBERT EDWARD GULLION AUSTIN - Robert Edward Gullion was born March 3, 1976, in Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C., as his father was in the Army. The family moved to Germany and in July 1980 the family settled in San Angelo, Texas, where he spent most of his life. Robert was the 500th graduate of the PAYS School program in 1997 in San Angelo. In January of 1999, he moved to Austin to better himself through working and saving money to further his education. It was his dream to go to culinary school and then some day further his education to interior or fashion design. Robert went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000. Though his time with us was short, he had overcome a lifetime of struggles and was coming into his own. Through him, we knew and loved him and learned so much about love and acceptance. Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother, Donna M. Hart of Tennessee Colony; his father, John E. Gullion of Purcell, Okla.; his brother, Michael A. NANCY FRANCIS STEPHENS DALLAS - Nancy Francis Stephens, a lifelong resident of Dallas, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, after a five-year battle with cancer. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. J.E. NEWSOM James Edsel Newsom, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000. He was a resident of San Angelo for 31 years but remained loyal to the Azle community throughout his life and always referred to this area as ``back home.'' He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him. Edsel was born to Nora Wright and Charles Frank Newsom on March 9, 1922, in the Silvercreek community of Parker County. On Aug. 23, 1942, he married Anna Delle Rawdon, his partner for 57 years. They were married shortly before his entry into the Army Air Corps. Edsel served with the 318th Fighter Group during his three years of service in World War II. He returned to Azle in 1945 and spent the next 25 years working for the Foley-Allen Commission Co. at the Fort Worth Stockyards. During this time Ann and Edsel were blessed with three children, James Randall, Charles Stanley and Teresa Ann. In the fall of 1968 he started working for Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo. Edsel was a rancher and manager of cattle sales for Producers for 27 years. Edsel was a member of the Azle Volunteer Fire Department, Azle Independent School District School Board, Masonic Lodge 601, Ash Creek Baptist Church of Azle, Parker County Sheriff's Posse, honorary member of Azle FFA and supported numerous school and community activities. Preceding him in death include his parents and sister, Corinne Sliger. NANCY FRANCIS STEPHENS DALLAS - Nancy Francis Stephens, a lifelong resident of Dallas, passed away on Jan. 8, 2000, after a five year battle with cancer. She was born on Aug. 28, 1936, in Dallas. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1953 and received her bachelor of arts degree in English from Baylor University in 1957. She married Elmer Lewis Stephens on Jan. 25, 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents, Judson C. Francis Sr. and Lillian Francis; and her brother, Judson C. Francis Jr. She is survived by her husband, Maj. Gen. Elmer Lewis Stephens (retired) and son, John M. Stephens II, both of Dallas; daughter, Elizabeth Stephens Wickham and son-in-law, Bradley C. Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife, following her husband's Air Force career, 17 years with Mitsubishi Aircraft, five years with the FAA, in addition a special mother, homemaker and from their union were three daughters. WYLIE M. `SNOOKS' HOMESLEY Wylie M. ``Snooks'' Homesley, 90, of San Angelo died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, in an Odessa nursing home. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Snooks was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Mereta and was a resident of San Angelo since 1909. He retired from real estate and stock farming. He attended Crossroads Assembly of God and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Snooks was married to Martha Elizabeth Miller in November 1978 in Carlsbad. She preceded him in death in March 1993. His parents, Wiley B. and Maggie E. Fincher Homesley, one sister, Maggie Weir, and two brothers, Matthew H. and Tom T. Homesley, also preceded him in death. Survivors include two sisters, Carrie Bell McClanahan of Crockett and Violet Opal Light of Plano; 12 nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter, Jean Finch and husband, Billy, of Odessa; four stepgrandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. RUTH GRAHAM WHITE ODESSA - Ruth Graham White, 96, of Odessa died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1903, in Lynn County. She was a 1923 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and member of the First United Methodist Church in Ozona. She married William Evart White June 24, 1925, in Ozona and together they owned the Ozona Stockman until 1974. Before moving to Odessa in 1994 she had been an avid bridge player, winning many master points. She was a member of the Friday Bridge Club, American Contract Bridge League, charter member of the Ozona Country Club Bridge Club and founded the Duplicate Bridge Club in Ozona. She also organized and served with the Ozona Garden Club in 1956, was a charter member of the Ozona Womens Club and served on the hospital board in the 1960s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evart, in 1986 and daughter, Barbara Moughon in 1978. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Ogilvy and her husband, Buck, of Odessa; son-in-law, Sid Moughon and wife, Peggy, of Gilmer; grandchildren, Mike and Sarah Ogilvy of Odessa, Judy and Mike Withrow of Odessa, Tim and Cynthia Ogilvy of Odessa, Dan and Jane Moughon of Fort Worth, Wesley Moughon of Tulsa, Okla., and Dinah and Danny Wade of Boerne. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and sister, Rachel Childress of San Angelo. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Ozona with Rev. Nancy Mossman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
