Bobbie Austin Bobbie Austin, 63, of San Angelo died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. Services are pending at Grimes Funeral Chapels. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries MARY ALICE KERBOW Mary Alice Kerbow, 86, of San Angelo died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in San Angelo Community Medical Center. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ben Hubert officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mary was born Feb. 18, 1913, in Byers to Ferinand and Elizabeth Thornton and graduated from Henrietta High School. She married Paul Kerbow April 22, 1934, and moved to San Angelo in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1985. Three sisters, Allie, Bessie and Ruth, also preceded her in death. She had been employed by the Tom Green County Tax Assessor and the Texas Highway Department. She retired from the highway department in 1978. In addition to spending time with her family on vacations at Christmas and summer in New Mexico, she was a Cub Scout pack mother and loved to hunt and fish. Her family and friends considered her a ``tomboy'' and at 4-foot-9 and with red hair, she was a little whirlwind. She is survived by her son, James Paul Kerbow and his wife, Susan, of San Angelo; granddaughter, Kelly Kerbow Gibbons and husband, Eric, of Austin; granddaughter, Kristin Kerbow at University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.; granddaughter, Sonya Franquiz and great-granddaughter, Auriel, of Tamarac, Fla.; and great-granddaughter, Kristi Harlow of Odessa; as well as a brother- and sister-in-law, Shelby and Achsah Kerbow of Georgetown. She also had many nieces and nephews and special friends, including Nita Townley and Ruby Sorrells. She had many friends from the First Christian Church and the highway department. Contributions in her name can be made to either Baptist Memorials Center or VistaCare Family Hospice. Pallbearers will be Ron Taylor, Mike Taylor, J.J. Fulgham, Bruce Kerbow, Billy Hollis and Phil Lane. FELIX PAUL BOOK Felix Paul Book, 88, of San Angelo died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in a local hospital. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Felix was born May 16, 1911, in Runnels County to John and Helen Book. In 1936 he married Ruby Willberg and moved to San Angelo in 1941. Ruby preceded him in death in 1944. In 1946 he married Anita Hoelscher. Felix was a lifelong stock farmer. He was a longtime member of the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart, the Knights of Columbus and the Red Creek Gun Club. He enjoyed making German sausage for the Sacred Heart fall festival, hunting, a good game of dominoes and tending his pecan orchard in his retirement years. A devoted father and grandfather, his final hour was eased by the presence of all his children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Book; his parents, John and Helen Book; two sons, Paul and Alexander; brothers, Frank Book, Ben Book, Edwin Book, Herbert Book and Alphonse Book; a sister, Amelia Schniers; grandsons, Garrett and Gunnar Book; and son-in-law, John Sferes. Survivors include his children, John Book and wife, Nancy, of Miles, Don Book and wife, Diane, of Plainview, Michael Book and wife, Tina, of San Angelo, Patricia Zeitler and husband, Irvin, of San Angelo, Paula Sferes of Lubbock, Fred Book and wife, Vivian, of Miles, Betty Jo Wilde and husband, John, of Wall, Marian Seidenberger and husband, James, of Stamford, Cecil Book and wife, Stella, of Miles and Roy Book and wife, Chris, of Miles. EDWARD PRESTON COLLETT OZONA - Edward Preston Collett, 75, of Ozona passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home. Ed was born Oct. 20, 1924, at home in Mullinville to J.W. and Effie Collett. Ed was a Navy veteran of World War II. He farmed and rodeoed until beginning his 23-year career with the U.S. Border Patrol. He served on both the Mexican and Canadian borders. After Ed's retirement in 1979, he opened and operated with his son, Ed Collett and Son Gun Shop, where he continued to work up until his death. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Collett in 1982; and a daughter, Michele Camp on Oct. 15, 1999. Survivors include Nell Wester of Ozona; a daughter, Brenda Bagley of Belgrade, Mont.; a son, Will Collett of Ozona; a daughter, Dana Thompson of Pipe Creek; a sister, Jessie Miller of Wichita, Kan.; and son-in-law, Mike Camp of Ozona; nine grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly Camp, Barbara Chamberlain, Kathy Edwards, Richard Watson, Brooke and Chelsea Collett, Heather Silfies and Preston McAllister.
