Thelma Vollmar KERRVILLE - Thelma Odiorne Vollmar, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in a local hospital. She was born July 13, 1913, in Texline, had lived in Fredericksburg and was a longtime resident of Kerrville. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries FELIX PAUL BOOK Felix Paul Book, 88, of San Angelo died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in a local hospital. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Felix was born May 16, 1911, in Runnels County to John and Helen Book. In 1936, he married Ruby Willberg and moved to San Angelo in 1941. Ruby preceded him in death in 1944. In 1946, he married Anita Hoelscher. Felix was a lifelong stock farmer. He was a longtime member of the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart, the Knights of Columbus and the Red Creek Gun Club. He enjoyed making German sausage for the Sacred Heart fall festival, hunting, a good game of dominoes and tending his pecan orchard in his retirement years. A devoted father and grandfather, his final hour was eased by the presence of all his children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Book; his parents, John and Helen Book; two sons, Paul and Alexander; brothers, Frank Book, Ben Book, Edwin Book, Herbert Book and Alphonse Book; a sister, Amelia Schniers; grandsons, Garrett and Gunnar Book; and son-in-law, John Sferes. Survivors include his children, John Book and wife, Nancy, of Miles, Don Book and wife, Diane, of Plainview, Michael Book and wife, Tina, of San Angelo, Patricia Zeitler and husband, Irvin, of San Angelo, Paula Sferes of Lubbock, Fred Book and wife, Vivian, of Miles, Betty Jo Wilde and husband, John, of Wall, Marian Seidenberger and husband, James, of Stamford, Cecil Book and wife, Stella, of Miles and Roy Book and wife, Chris, of Miles. BOBBIE JO AUSTIN Bobbie Austin, 63, of San Angelo died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. She suffered from several illnesses for a number of years prior to entering the nursing home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Johnson's Funeral Home with Kenneth Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Bobbie was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Wharton, Texas, to F.A. Wallace and Aileen Wallace. She married Robert Austin in 1953. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one brother, Dan Wallace. She is survived by her husband, Robert Austin; their sons, Clifford Austin of Valrico, Fla., and Bart Austin and Mark Austin, both of Austin; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Sue Wallace and Douglas and Shirley Wallace, all of San Angelo. For most of Bobbie's life she was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her three sons. She also loved her association with her sorority, Preceptor Iota Omicron. MILDRED FRALEY ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - Mildred Fraley, 96, of Alamogordo died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Betty Dare Samaritan Nursing Center in Alamogordo. Mrs. Fraley was born Jan. 9, 1903, in Antioch, Ohio. She lived in Akron, Ohio, for 70 years before moving to Fort Stockton, Texas, and then to Alamogordo in 1996. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Vannoy and her husband, Richard, of Cloudcroft, N.M., and Carolyn Morrison and her husband, Lloyd, of Macedonia, Ohio; a son, Robert L. Fraley and his wife, Louise, of College Station, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Conrad Fraley in 1992. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be conducted. Arrangements are under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home in Alamogordo. MABEL MARY EGAN BALLINGER - Mrs. Thomas (Mabel Mary Moore) Egan, 93, of Ballinger died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. Wake service was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in the Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena with the Rev. Stephen Kenelly officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories in Ballinger. Mrs. Thomas (Mabel Mary Moore) Egan was born July 10, 1906, in Benton, Ark. Mabel was three years old when the family moved to a farm eight miles east of Winters. The move was made by train, but the father and two older children came by wagon bringing household goods and stock. Mable attended the Longbranch and Harmony community schools, graduating from Ballinger High School in 1924. She and her sister attended Sul Ross State Teachers College in Alpine. On Jan. 1, 1927, she married Tom Egan in Winters. They lived on a farm north of Ballinger for 18 years, then moved ten miles west of Ballinger where she lived for more than 50 years. Mable has five children, all graduates of Ballinger High School, Anne and husband, Henry Hermann, of San Angelo, Tommy and wife, Betty, also of San Angelo, Dan and wife, Josie, of Lancaster, Mike and wife, Virginia, and Jerry and wife, Marilyn, of Ballinger. Mabel has 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Tom died in 1984. She is also survived by one sister, Winona and husband, Bonney Vineyard, of Del Rio, and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. Mabel was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, where she was active in St. Ann's Society and Catholic Daughters of America. She served as Deanery and Diocesan President of the Council of Catholic Women. She was an active member in Home Demonstration clubs for more than 50 years, serving in every office of the Rowena Club and the Runnels County Council. On the state board of the Texas Home Demonstration Association, she served as recreation chair and district director. Memorials may be made to the Ballinger Carnegie Library. NATALIE BROOKS LUNN WICHITA FALLS - Natalie Brooks Lunn, 19, of Wichita Falls died Jan. 10, 2000, in Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. She was born Aug. 21, 1980. She was a sophomore at Texas Tech University majoring in education. She was a member of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was engaged to be married to Theodore F. Kuchta III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Kuchta of Mansfield. They had planned to be married upon graduation. Natalie graduated from Rider High School in 1998. While at Rider High School, she was on the honor roll her junior and senior years; was awarded the USNJA National Journalism Award; named Junior Class Beauty; and was a class favorite nominee as a sophomore. She was active with Peer Assistance and Leadership (PAL) program. She was a member of the Raider yearbook staff. She was manager of the Rider Boys Basketball team for four years and was a member of the Spanish Club. She also was a member of Alpha Forum, division of Women's Forum as a freshman and sophomore; member of Junior Forum as a junior and senior. She was presented as a 1998 Spring Debutante. She volunteered at the Martin Luther King Day Care Center, was public relations chairman for S.H. Rider High School as a senior. She had volunteered more than 400 hours with Pink Darlings for United Regional Health Care System where she was program director as a senior and served on the board of directors as a junior and senior. She is survived by her parents, Nat and Sidney Lunn of Wichita Falls; sister, Kate Lunn; brother, Cuatro Lunn; grandparents, Ray and Valine Lunn of Wichita Falls and L.S. ``Bit'' and Joyce Terry of Del Rio; uncle and aunt, Will and Helen Lunn of Wichita Falls; uncles, Kyle Lunn of Boston, Steve Terry of Menard, Robert Terry of San Antonio, Lee Taft of Boston; and cousins, Reagan, Adam, Zac, Ty and Elizabeth Lunn. Service was at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. Pastor Roger Deerinwater, along with the Rev. Jerry Royal assisting, officiated. CORA BELLE TAYLOR SOFGE Cora Belle Taylor Sofge, 81, of San Angelo died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, in Meadow Creek Nursing Home. Service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Johnson's Funeral Home with Paul Shero officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Cora Belle was born Nov. 18, 1918, to Robert and Mattie Taylor in Eddy County, N.M. She married H.F. Sofge on Dec. 21, 1935, in Fort Stockton. He preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1990. Cora Belle was retired from GTE and also was a retired real estate agent. She was a longtime resident of San Angelo and was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by three daughters, Sarah Lee Kiesling and husband, Herman, of Las Cruces, N.M., Patricia Tankersley and husband, Leamon, of Phoenix and Helen Wilde of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Sherry Fox and husband, Bryan, of Houston, Terry Kiesling of Redondo Beach, Calif., Wade Tankersley and Michelle Worley, both of Phoenix, Angie Tankersley of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mandy Wilde, Randi Wilde and Jessica Wilde, all of San Angelo; one sister, Sarah Taylor McKee of San Angelo; two brothers, Basil Taylor of San Antonio and Jimmy Taylor of Waco; two special nieces, Mary Dale Bryant and Mattie Mae McKee, both of San Angelo; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
