Javan Vosburg Sr. ROBERT LEE - Javan M. Vosburg Sr., 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at his residence. He was a pipe fitter and a member of Northside Church of Christ. An Air Force veteran, he worked for Humble Oil and Refining Co. and as a used car salesman and was a member of the Coahoma Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Ward, 66, of San Angelo died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at her residence. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Rev. J. Joe Stone of First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. (MST) Friday, Jan. 21, in Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso with Chaplain Rick Ontiveros officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. Barbara was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Yreka, Calif., to Fred and Elsie Nibler Humphreys. She married Winfred A. Ward on July 8, 1976, in El Paso. He died on Oct. 15, 1991. She had been a resident of San Angelo for two years, having moved here from Anthony, N.M. Barbara loved attending First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time as a Sunday school teacher in Canutillo and also working in the Christian Bookstore. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending precious time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Hanker. She is survived by five daughters, Georgia L. Mathis of Las Cruces, N.M., Loetta A. DiGennaro of Harlingen, Susan J. Wilson of Canutillo, Jennifer L. Parker of Welsh, La., and Jackie C. Parks of Lumberton; two sons, Jeffery C. Smith and David S. Smith, both of San Angelo; a brother, Carl Hanker of San Diego; two sisters, Norma Hayes of Muskogee, Okla., and Helen Summer of Silverdale, Wash.; 16 grandchildren, John, Roselyn, Nicole, Jason, Christopher, Joseph, Nikki, Heather, Ashley, David, Amanda, Derek, Sebastian, Rebbica, Anthony and Ashlyn; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LOU ELLA PETREY Lou Ella Petrey, 81, of Miles passed peacefully from this world at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000. She was born March 26, 1918, in Larue to Jesse and Lillie Jane Denney. She was married to Preston Petrey on June 24, 1933. They moved to Miles in August of 1942. Preston preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1988. Lou Ella will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her patience and her love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by four sons, Gene Petrey, Don Petrey and Jimmy Petrey and wife, Martha, all of Miles, and Roger Petrey and wife, Laurie, of Garland; two daughters, Jane Reynolds of San Saba and Linda Nurmi of San Angelo; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Tarrant of Athens and Dovie Dickerson of De Soto; one sister-in-law, Lorena White of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Petrey also was preceded in death by grandchildren, Randy Reynolds, Jeremy Petrey, Henry Jason Petrey, Carl Don Petrey and Wayne Petrey; a daughter-in-law, Frances Petrey; a son-in-law, Jack Reynolds; four sisters; and six brothers. VIRGINIA McKENZIE WILSON CHARLESTON, S.C. - Virginia McKenzie Wilson, 85, beloved wife of Ralph Arthur Wilson, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in a local retirement community. She was born in Charleston, the daughter of William Lawrence McKenzie and Mary Jane Burbage McKenzie. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and attended business college. A former secretary for John Wesley United Methodist Church and for the district superintendent of the United Methodist Church, Charleston district, Mrs. Wilson retired from the Navy Supply Center at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in 1972. She also was an amateur artist and a former Sunday school teacher, choir member and member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dianne W. Canaday. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Eileen W. Blackwell of Florence, S.C., and Virginia W. Flanagin of Augusta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Paige C. Crone and Deborah E. Blackwell of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Meredith A. Blackwell of Charleston and Tate M. Flanagin and Wiley S. Flanagin, both of Augusta; and one great-grandson, Wilson A. Crone of Mount Pleasant. Adolfo was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Bangs to Carlos and Karina Aguirre and had been a resident of San Angelo since 1925. Adolfo worked for Concho Village Apartments until his retirement. Adolfo was married to Aurora Cardona on Sept. 16, 1935. She preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 1984; and also preceding him in death were three great sons-in-law, Ben Hernandez on October, 1983, Larry Guerette on Jan. 4, 1999, and Abraham Montez on Feb. 7, 1999. Survivors include one son, Joe Aguirre and wife, Anita, of San Angelo; four daughters, Hilda Hernandez of Tulsa, Okla., Chavela Salazar and husband, Antonio, Dora Montez and Rosita Guerette, all of San Angelo; one brother, Epmenio Aguirre of Dallas; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nieces; a special sister-in-law, Cassie Jackson and husband, Ace, of Wichita, Kan.; and a dear friend who loved him a lot, Helen James. ISMAEL `NICK' GALINDO Ismael ``Nick'' Galindo, 75, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000. He was born in Cyril, Okla., Jan. 11, 1925, and had been a resident of San Angelo since 1940. He was a World War II veteran and had served in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and in the Rhineland as a member of the Medical Detachment, 7th Infantry of the U.S. Army. Decorations and citations he received include the EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory ribbon, four Overseas Service Bars, the Bronze Star and one Bronze Arrowhead. He is survived by Jessica Galindo of San Jose, Calif.; sons, Daniel Galindo of Union City, Calif., and Jeffrey Galindo of Los Angeles; daughters, Norma Galindo of Tucson, Ariz., Yvette Galindo of San Jose, Marlene Galindo of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Margaret Flores of San Angelo; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Hernandez (Jesse) of Big Spring; brother, Bernardino A. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mary K. was born Dec. 20, 1920, in Wall to Lee Ormon Dixon and Mary Jenny Keel Dixon. She married Milton J. Miller Jr. in February 1995 in San Angelo. Mrs. Miller had worked for Concho Valley Pecan for 34 years. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mark K. was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Donald Wayne Eustace. Survivors include one son, Bobby Lee Miller of San Angelo; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eustace of Fort Worth; one granddaughter, Shelley K. Storie of Fort Worth; one great-granddaughter, Ashley K. Elizabeth Wayland of Fort Worth; one great-grandson, Michael Eustace of Lubbock; and four nieces and three nephews who thought of Mrs. Miller as their own mother.
