Beltran of Big Spring; two brothers, Andrew Chaverria of Snyder and Nicholas Paredez Jr. of Big Spring; and three nephews. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries VINCENT MELONE Vincent Melone, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Mass General Hospital in Boston after a lengthy illness. In 1961, he came to San Angelo establishing San Angelo Wool Processing Co., a wool/mohair scouring and combing facility and later sheepskin processing operation. He became a member of the Mohair Council of America and the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association. He was an active member of the Catholic Diocese of San Angelo for 38 years and was a choir member of both Sacred Heart and most recently Holy Angels parish. He was born in Penne, Italy, Feb. 27, 1921, and was the eldest of eight children of Joseph and Maria Melone. His family immigrated to the United States in 1929 where they farmed in Weston, Mass. A veteran of World War II, he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Naples, Italy, from 1942-1946. After the war he became an active member of the Boston Wool Trade establishing a wool and alpaca trading company, Clisa Corp. in Boston. His international business ventures provided him worldwide travel. With the assistance of the San Angelo Industries Development program in 1961, he began work on a wool processing facility and eventually moved his family to San Angelo in 1971. He is survived by wife, Janice (McCourt), whom he married in 1953, children, Diane, Vincent P., Mark J. and wife, Tiffanie, all of San Angelo, and daughter, Linda of Washington, D.C.; also sisters, Anna Pollock, Celia De Simone, and brothers, William Melone, Daniel Melone and John Melone, all of the New England area. He was preceded in death by brother, Anthony, and sister, Josephine. Known for his never ceasing optimism, vibrant personality and undying faith, Vincent will be truly missed by his family and friends. Wake will be held at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., Waltham, Mass., on Sunday, Jan. 23, followed by a funeral Mass and interment in Weston, his boyhood home, on Monday. HELEN JANE REICHERT Helen Jane West Reichert, 81, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at 6:45 p.m. in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in Fairmount Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Tracey Davenport, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Helen Jane was born Dec. 7, 1908, in San Angelo to Harry and Helen Akin Grafke. She married J.W. West in 1937, and he preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1993. She also was preceded in death by her son, Brian West. Helen Jane married Jack Reichert April 23, 1995. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Fairmount Cemetery Board. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Jack Reichert; her son, John West and his wife, Ann; her grandchildren, Jay West and his wife, Mia, Angie West and Andrew West; stepgranddaughters, Heidi Gardner and her husband, Don, and their daughters, Jodie Marie and Janet, and Barbara Young and her husband, Eddie, and their daughters, Lida and Jacqueline. JUANITA SLEDGE GRAHAM - Juanita Sledge, 77, born on Friday, April 13, 1922, to Bill and Gertrude Willerton in Nowata, Okla., died on Jan. 20, 2000, in Carrollton, Texas, while living in Brookhaven Nursing Center. Juanita was married to Wayne W. Sledge on July 7, 1941, in Blackwell, Okla. On Dec. 18, 1946, their first son, Richard, was born in Sapulpa, Okla. Two years later on Jan. 25, 1949, their second son, Jerry, was born in Pawhuska, Okla., and their third child, a daughter, Darlene, was born in Big Lake, Texas, on Friday, April 13, 1951. They later lived in San Angelo, Christoval, Odessa and Graham, Texas. Wayne died on Aug. 26, 1994. Juanita moved to Little Elm, Texas, after his death to be close to her daughter. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sledge; her parents; and two brothers, Russell Willerton and LeRoy Willerton. Juanita is survived by sons, Richard and wife, Elaine Sledge of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jerry and wife, Tina Sledge of Rockwall, Texas, and daughter, Darlene and husband, Johnny Smith of Carrollton, Texas, along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Juanita also is survived by two brothers, Calvin Willerton and Kenneth Willerton; and four sisters, Norma Wilkins, Phillis Ricketts, Margaret Tautfest and Velda Miller. IRENE PEARL ROZZLLE Irene Pearl Rozzlle, 82, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Baker Brame Nursing Center. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Johnson's Funeral Home with Mike Zuniga officiating. Burial will follow in Concho Cemetery in Concho. Mrs. Rozzlle was born Sept. 16, 1917, in Stamford to William and Pearl Hudson. She married Edgar Rozzlle on Dec. 22, 1935, in Millersview. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1990. Irene and Edgar were ranchers in Concho County for many years. She had been a resident of San Angelo since 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. She also was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Rozzlle in 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Harris and husband, John, and Ann Edwards and husband, Hubert ``Rat,'' all of San Angelo; two sons, Jerry Rozzlle and wife, Laura, of Houston and Dal Rozzlle and wife, Gail, of Rockport; one sister, Dovie Morris of Mason; one brother, Elmo Hudson and wife, Beaulah, of Coleman; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her nephews, Jimmy Wayne Hambright, Robert Hambright, Sam Morgan, Ronnie Cole, Gary Cole, Michael Milhauser, Richard Milhauser and David Milhauser, all of San Angelo; her nieces, Guy Nell Kenney of Stephenville, Lisa Allison of Sterling City and Sharon Clark of San Angelo; a stepson, Patrick Dearen of Midland; stepgrandson, Wesley Dearen of Midland; her best friend, Dorothy Welch of San Angelo; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. She was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. RAYMOND JENKINS MIDLAND - Raymond was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Coleman, Texas, to Carl Mercer and Georgia Pearl (Loudermilk) Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Peggy Lenz; and three brothers, Norman, Jack Hardy (Red) and Bob Jenkins. They were raised in San Angelo. Raymond joined the Army Air Corps in 1941, serving in Europe and North Africa during World War II as a pilot. He was attached to the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron in the 316th Troop Carrier group where he flew C-47 Troop Carriers in the D-Day invasion of 1944 over Saint-Mere-Eglise, France. He also flew missions in the ``Battle of the Bulge'' in late 1944, where his plane was shot down over the Rhine River. Raymond was able to land his C-47 safely, saving the lives of himself and his crew. He received the Bronze and Silver Stars and a Purple Heart for his heroic efforts. Raymond retired as lieutenant colonel and stayed active in the reserves until 1980. In 1943, he met and married Ruth Robinson, moving to Midland in 1947. Raymond went into the jewelry business, opening Jenkins Jewelry and Luggage. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, Ruth R. Jenkins of Midland; his sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Carl ``Scooter'' and Cindy Jenkins of Midland, Roy David and Joan Jenkins of Plano and Bryan Thomas and Susan Jenkins of Abilene; his daughter and son-in-law, Helen Ruth and David Chambers of Whitehouse; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Chambers (19), John Darrell (17), Carly Ray Jenkins (17), Jennifer Nicole Chambers (16), Corey Britton Jenkins (15), Richard Allen Jenkins (14) and Bryann Elizabeth Jenkins (12); and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Paige Owens (3). Raymond was a member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce for over 50 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Scottish Rite member, life member of the Reserve Officers Association and life member of the Retired Officers Association. He was a member of the Ranchland Hills Country Club, Greentree Country Club and Midland Optimist Club. He died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral service has been scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with Tim Veremillon officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
