Services are pending at Pecos Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries ZOLA SMITH Zola Smith (Grandma), 89, a resident of San Angelo, Texas, a woman of God, strong faith and giving heart went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens officiated by the Rev. Brad Winchester. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Grandma was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Callahan County, Clyde, Texas, to Thomas J. and Roberta W. Chapman. Grandma married Ray Smith April 29, 1935, near Water Valley. They had two children, Geneva Marie and Louis Ray. Grandma worked in the nursing profession beginning at the Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Carlsbad, Texas, and became a licensed vocational nurse in 1955. Grandma was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church which is now known as Edmund Boulevard Baptist Church. Surviving relatives include three grandchildren, Rodney Pyburn and wife, Kathleen, Tamie Henry and husband, Kyle, and Sandra Pomroy and husband, Jim; great-grandchildren, Kadryn and Jassy Pyburn, Brandon, Taylor and Torie Henry, Haley and Nathan Pomroy; and son-in-law, Waylon Pyburn. She was preceded in death by her children, Geneva Pyburn and Louis Ray Smith; a sister, Zada Lewis; and a brother, Tom Chapman. May God bless the many caregivers at Park Plaza Nursing Center.
