He was a longtime employee of Hemphill-Wells and a member of Masonic Lodge and Southgate Church of Christ. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Johnson's Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Debbie was born Nov. 24, 1959, to Herschel and Onita Wilson Crooks in San Angelo. She graduated from Lake View High School in 1978. She completed nursing school at the Howard College of Nurses in 1995. She worked as a registered nurse for Hospice of San Angelo. She married Tom Woodard on April 18, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a member of Northridge Baptist Church. Debbie was a loving and caring wife and mother. She touched and helped so many lives in her short time with Hospice of San Angelo. She was a remarkable woman who loved everyone she knew. She will be missed by all. Debbie is survived by her husband, Tom Woodard of San Angelo; two daughters, Candice and Allison Campbell of San Angelo; a stepdaughter, Teri Woodard of San Angelo; two sisters, Sharon Harvey and her husband, Rodney, of Lubbock and Darla Burn and her husband, Scott, of Georgetown; one brother, James Crooks and his wife, Vicki, of San Angelo; and a special mom- and dad-in-law, Mary and James Winanoy of San Angelo. Bea Murray was born May 16, 1918, to Arch and Earnie Baldwin Harris of Wister, Okla. She graduated from Big Spring High School. She married Curtis William ``Bill'' Murray on Feb. 10, 1940, in Big Spring. They lived in Midland from 1941-1973 and then moved to Blackwell. During the past year, she had been a resident at the Conner House in Canyon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blackwell and Omega Coterie and Euterpian Ladies Clubs in Blackwell. Her husband preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Kay Baker of Canyon; two sons, Bill Murray Jr. of Jakarta, Indonesia, and Jim Murray of Vernon; seven grandchildren, Emily Bullard of Grapevine, Scott Murray of Houston, Melissa Bryant of Hurst, Jennifer Stewart of Amarillo, Rachal Murray of Houston, Amy Murray of Vernon and Emily Murray of Jakarta; and three great-grandchildren. CHARLES H. ``CHARLIE'' HOOKER SR. Charles H. Hooker Sr., 70, of San Angelo died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at his home under the care of Hospice of San Angelo. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in Hope Chapel at Baptist Temple, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Charles was born May 28, 1929, in Shidler, Okla., to Dean and Josephine Hooker. He graduated from high school in Chickasha, Okla., in 1948 and received bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from North Texas State College. Charles began his career in education and guidance counseling in East Texas, moving to San Angelo with his family in 1964 when he became a counselor at Lake View High School. During his time at Lake View, Charles initiated the ``Texas Proprietary School Act,'' a law which monitors and regulates private trade and business schools, protecting the students who attend these schools from fraud. He also, for 10 years, wrote a monthly column for the Texas Personnel and Guidance Association newspaper and was named ``Counselor of the Year'' by the TPGA and the American Vocational Guidance Association. Charles was a member of the Republican Party since attending his first precinct convention in 1952. He was active in the Tom Green County party from 1970, serving as precinct chairman, election committee chairman and county chairman. He also served as an election official in various precincts at virtually every election in the last 25 years. Upon his retirement from SAISD, he became a steady volunteer for Meals for the Elderly and continued his active participation in politics. Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bobbie; two children, Charlene Hunter of Loveland, Colo., and Herb Hooker of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Cynthia Montoya of San Angelo and Linden, Stone and Ivy Hunter of Loveland; two brothers, Cliff Hooker of Odessa and Gene Hooker of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to Meals for the Elderly and Hospice of San Angelo.
