Houston Cleghorn, 84, of San Angelo died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger with the Rev. Tom Pucci, pastor of Parkside Community Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. She was born July 26, 1915, in San Saba and had been a resident of San Angelo for 40 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Four Square Church. Survivors include a son, Rodger Houston of San Angelo; a daughter, LaNelle Morrison of Winters; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Edward Spence Edward Spence, 90, of San Angelo died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in a local nursing home. Services are pending at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Lynell Allison Lynell F. Claude William Hamilton, 74, of Kingsland died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Austin. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Kannapolis, N.C., and had been a resident of Kingsland for five years, moving from Yorktown. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a Baptist minister and educator at the Second Baptist Church in Victoria. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Hamilton of Kingsland; two daughters, Claudia LaNell Horton of Fort Worth and Elsie LaVonn Coffey of Victoria; three sisters, Ruby Gentry of China Grove, N.C., Mary Frances Bryant of Harlem, Ga., and Pauline Barnhart of Kannapolis; a brother, Robert Hamilton of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren. He was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Junction. He was a school teacher and coach and a Baptist. Lula Schneider LLANO - Lula Mae Schneider, 89, of Llano died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in Austin. She was born June 13, 1910, in Valley Springs and was a longtime resident of Llano. She was a nurse at the Hoerster Clinic and was a member of the Church of Christ. Lydia Gemeinhardt BRADY - Lydia H. Gemeinhardt, 96, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Brady. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Rest Haven Cemetery. Mary Hunter KERRVILLE - Mary Bessie Huling Hunter, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in a local hospital. Private services will be held. Arrangements are by Grimes Funeral Chapels. She was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Staples. She was a retired music teacher and a Methodist. Survivors include a son, Dr. Robert Austin Hunter Jr. of Kerrville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Raymond Wilson KERRVILLE - Raymond E. Wilson, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000. He was born July 17, 1906, in Quito, Tenn., and a longtime resident of Kerrville. He was a Methodist minister, chaplain and a Mason. McSWANE Evelyn Georgene McSwane passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Arlington. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Belvedere Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Evelyn McSwane was born July 8, 1915, in Eldorado, the daughter of Emmit Billings and Mary Lorrance Billings. Both parents were originally from the Kerrville area. She lived most of her life in San Angelo until her marriage there on Dec. 5, 1945, to E.O. (Jack) McSwane of Rockwood, Texas. They were domiciled in Rockwood for most of their married life until his death in 1979. Evelyn (Gene) was very active in the Rockwood Methodist Church and various community affairs. In 1980, she relocated to Santa Anna, near many close friends and relatives where she enjoyed life for several years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Clark of San Angelo; and her brother, Glenn Billings of Austin. Evelyn is survived by one son, Stanley McSwane and his wife, Dian, of Arlington. She had one grandson, Kevin. Two nieces and a nephew also survive. CARROLL JONES Carroll Jones, 63, of Grape Creek died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in a local hospital. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Herman Beauchamp officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. He was born March 24, 1936, in Robert Lee. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired ranch hand. Survivors include his longtime friend and companion, Sue Taylor of San Angelo; two sons, William Ray Jones of Spokane, Wash., and Daniel Jones of Marble Falls; three daughters, Nelle Routh and Roxy Smith, both of San Angelo, and Debbie Glass of San Antonio; four brothers, Alfred Jones of Magnolia, Alvin Jones of Carrizo Springs, Taylor Jones of Hockley and Johnny Jones of San Angelo; six sisters, Mabel Walker and Virginia Cypert, both of Christoval, Dorothy Webernick of Edna, Wanda Sparks of San Angelo, Jimmie Lou Smith of La Pryor and Nellie Ross of Robert Lee; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LENDY EUGENE DEVOLL ROBERT LEE - Lendy Eugene Devoll, 72, of Robert Lee died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at his residence in Robert Lee. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Robert Lee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Messer officiating. Burial will follow in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. Lendy was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Sanco to I.H. and Alvie Devoll. He married Yvonne McCutchen on July 27, 1946. He first worked in the oilfield prior to becoming the park and golf course superintendent for 24 years. The golf course was built during his time there and he was very proud of it. Also, he spent all of his adult life ranching, which was what he loved the most. He attended school in Robert Lee and was a member of the Robert Lee First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, I.H. and Alvie Devoll; one sister, Evelyn Jackson; and one brother, I.H. Devoll Jr. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Audrey Devoll of Robert Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Marcia Devoll of Midland; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Greg Pearson of Livingston; grandsons, Shane Devoll of Denver, Casey Devoll of Commerce, Chad Helwig of Nacogdoches and Allen Pearson of Livingston; granddaughters, Amy and Lacy Devoll of Littlefield, Jodee Helwig of Robert Lee and Regan Pearson of Livingston; a sister, Alma Moore of San Antonio; his McCutchen brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was a kind and gentle man. His family was the most important thing in his life and he will be missed dearly. Pallbearers will be Johnny Torres, Marshall Millican, Ross Adkins, Joey Harmon, Clay Allen, Gary Sam Williams and Lupe Torres. The family requests that any memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo or the organization of choice.
