Pearl Casbeer GOLDTHWAITE - Pearl Casbeer, 96, of Gatesville and formerly of Lampasas, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in a Gatesville nursing home. John Prude ALPINE - John G. Prude, 95, of Fort Davis died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his residence. Services are pending at Grimes Funeral Chapels. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries EULALA ELIZABETH LINDEMANN BALLINGER - Eulala Elizabeth Lindemann, 96, of Ballinger passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Ballinger. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Hanson, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Winters. Arrangements are by Rains-Seale Funeral Home. Eulala was born Dec. 9, 1903, in the Spring Hill community near Ballinger to August and Regenia Roesner Vogelsang. She married E.C. Edmund Lindemann on Nov. 19, 1924, in Rowena. They resided in the Hatchell community for 37 years before they moved to Ballinger. He preceded her in death in 1969. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Eulala was a homemaker and loved working outdoors, especially in her garden and flower bed. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Winters. She will be dearly missed by her family and lifetime friends. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Gottschalk and son-in-law, Ed, of Ballinger; one granddaughter, Eddie Dunn and husband, Alvin, of Ballinger; two great-granddaughters, Audra Dunn of Ballinger and Amy Lischka and husband, Justin, of Bellville; and one great-great-granddaughter, Katelyn Dunn of Ballinger. LENA BONDS JINKENS FORT WORTH - Lena Bonds Jinkens, 95, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Fort Worth. Lena Mae Bonds was born Oct. 11, 1904, in Clifton to Mary Elizabeth Lassiter Bonds and Wesley Harris Bonds. She attended Hardin-Simmons College in Abilene where she was on the basketball team. She taught school in Coon Creek in Bosque County. Then she taught in a country school in West Texas where she met Loyd A. Jinkens. They married on July 7, 1929, in Clifton. Soon after marriage they moved to Fort Worth where they began to establish what became a large and well-known ranching and Quarter Horse business. They had one daughter, Margaret Jinkens Smith. Lena Jinkens was always right there beside her husband helping with every aspect of the business. That included office work as well as, in the early years, all of the ranch work. They owned ranches in several counties in Texas and were internationally known in the Quarter Horse industry. They were founding members of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Cutting Horse Association and Fort Worth Horse Shoe Club. They sold and delivered horses all over the world. Lena Jinkens was the hostess for the first group of Ranch Girls to ride at the Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo. She and her husband annually entertained during the livestock show with large parties for their out-of-town friends. She was a friendly and kind person who never forgot anyone's name. Even at the end, at the age of 95 she called every employee and resident at the home where she lived by their names and introduced them to all of her visitors. Her memberships include the First Methodist Church, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, charter member of Ridglea Country Club and an Early Day member of The Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel with graveside service at 4:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel. Pallbearers will be Fred T. DEDRA KAY EDMONSON Dedra Kay Edmonson, 37, of San Angelo departed this life experience Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, and began her journey into the great adventure of Life Eternal. Among those whose lives seem sadly diminished by her passing are her children, Jared Bird and Kara Bird, both of Ozona; her mother, Rubi Edmonson, and two sisters, Sheri Edmonson and Terry Dry, all of San Angelo; her paternal grandmother, Mae Edmonson of San Angelo; her maternal grandmother, Freddie Ham of Lamesa; one niece, Kayla Dry; and her special companion, Scott Leverett. Graveside service for Dedra will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Todd Nelson officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Dedra lives on in the hearts of all who have known and loved her. She remains always the beautiful, shining light she has always been to us all. CURRY CECIL BROOKSHIER BALLINGER - Curry Cecil Brookshier, 83, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2000. He was a 25-year resident of Horizon City and a 1935 graduate of Ballinger High School. In 1939 he graduated from Texas A&M University and married Margie England Brookshier on Aug. 27, 1939. He was the son of Arch and Minnie Brookshier. They preceded him in death. Mr. Brookshier was a vocational agricultural teacher, Texas A&M Extension County Agent and a rancher. In 1952 he was in the foreign service with USAID, serving in Afghanistan for five years, Chile for six years, Pakistan for seven years and in Lima, Peru, for four years. In the last three countries he served as chief of agriculture. In Pakistan he was a key figure in a project that was called ``The Green Revolution,'' which enabled Pakistan to be food grain sufficient. Mr. Brookshier retired from USAID in 1974 and moved to Horizon City. He began a pecan orchard in Van Horn and owned Brookshier Pecan Farm Joint Venture. He was a president of Horizon City Kiwanis and a member of Vista Ysleta United Methodist Church. Mr. Brookshier is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie E. Brookshier; daughters, Maudilee Brookshier Davis and Annisa B. Carter; a son, Kyle C. Brookshier; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon Brookshier. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, in Rains-Seale Funeral Home in Ballinger. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, in Garden of Memories Cemetery. DAN GIBSON Dan Gibson, 75, of San Angelo died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his residence. At his request his body was donated to Texas Tech Medical School and no memorial service will be held. Arrangements were by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mr. Gibson was born June 27, 1924, in Fort Stockton. He was a member of the Saddle Club and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Aileen Royal Gibson who were pioneer ranchers of West Texas. He also was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Gibson of San Angelo; two daughters, Renee Collins and husband, Robert of Houston and Linda Sullivan and husband, Bruce of Cord, Ark.; one stepson, Charles D. McDonald of Sonora; one sister, Fredda Bedell of Whitney; one sister-in-law, Louise Jones of San Angelo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. DOTTIE (PARKER) POWELL Funeral service for Dottie Powell, 89, of Kemp, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Johnson's Funeral Home with burial following in Eola Cemetery. Calvin Warpula, minister of Johnson Street Church of Christ, will officiate. Dottie died Feb. 25, 2000, in Kaufman, Texas. She was born Dottie Parker in Mason County on Sept. 28, 1910. She married Pete Powell in 1936 and moved to Vancourt. They lived in Vancourt until Pete's death in 1982. Dottie then moved to San Angelo. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. Dottie was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She will be missed by many friends and family. She is survived by three children, Janelle and Roger Hatton of Kemp, Jake and Glenda Powell of San Angelo and Elaine Parker of Kemp. She has six grandchildren, Karen Cheshire, Kim Hodges, Kellye Patzer, Gina Edmiston, Lance Powell and Taylor Parker. She has seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
