Calvin Warpula, minister of Johnson Street Church of Christ, will officiate. Dottie died Feb. 25, 2000, in Kaufman, Texas. She was born Dottie Parker in Mason County on Sept. 28, 1910. She married Pete Powell in 1936 and moved to Vancourt. They lived in Vancourt until Pete's death in 1982. Dottie then moved to San Angelo. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. Dottie was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She will be missed by many friends and family. She is survived by three children, Janelle and Roger Hatton of Kemp, Jake and Glenda Powell of San Angelo and Elaine Parker of Kemp. She has six grandchildren, Karen Cheshire, Kim Hodges, Kellye Patzer, Gina Edmiston, Lance Powell and Taylor Parker. She has seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ida and Louis were happily married for 29 years. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She was a homemaker who loved and cared for everyone. She taught us all so very much about living, patience and strength. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in Haven of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Scott Griffin and Brother Wayne Coalson officiating. Arrangements are by Eubank Funeral Home Inc. Lila was born April 1, 1918, in Baxter Springs, Kan., to Charles and Myrtle Davis. She married Sherman Smith in 1940 in Joplin, Mo., and in 1950 they moved to Odessa where they raised their three daughters. In 1964 Maxine and Sherman moved to Canton. He died in 1976. She married Loyd McCauley and moved to Mount Pleasant in 1981. Following his death she moved to Bronte in 1997 and was a member of the Bronte Church of Christ. She had a special place in her heart for the Medina Children's Home of Medina. She also loved the scripture II Corinthians 5:8. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Kay Braswell and Phyllis D. Poe, both of Bronte, and Pamela Ann Morte of Bay City; two granddaughters, Shaye Coalson and Christy Griffin, both of Bronte; four grandsons, Blane Braswell of Bronte, Blake Braswell of Garden City, Trey Morte of Conroe and Todd Morte of Kingwood; and 17 grandchildren. LETHA BOWEN SMITH BALLINGER - Letha Bowen Smith, 97, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Heritage Oakes Estate. She was born March 14, 1902, in Patricio County to G.W. and Cora Putman Bowen. She married L. Frank Smith April 2, 1921, in Ballinger. They lived in the Ballinger area all of their married life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Lee of Henderson and Merle Woodrow of York, Pa.; a son, Glenn Smith of St. Charles, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Lola Goad of Greenville and Leora (Pete) Smith of Brownwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Frank Smith in September 1971. Mrs. Monroe was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Ballinger to Oscar and Celesta Mae Lee. She was a resident of Christoval for 18 years. She was a member of Rankin Baptist Church. Mrs. Wash moved to Forsan in 1929 from McCulloch County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Forsan Baptist Church and a member of the Dorcas Class. She also was a member of the Forsan Study Club, the Forsan Sewing Club and Garden Club. Survivors include her husband, C.V. MINNIE MAE BROWN STERLING CITY - Minnie Mae Brown of Sterling City passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the age of 98. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at her ranch home. Minnie Mae was born Dec. 11, 1901, in Bell County to John and Dora Mae Cheshire. She had been a resident of Sterling County since May 1940. Ms. Brown was a good Christian who loved her home, yard and entertaining for her family and friends. She was a talented artist and musician. Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin Brown; and son, Willard Cole. Survivors include her sons and their wives, Alvie L. and Mildred Cole and Bill J. and Sue Cole, all of Sterling City; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Davis, Rance Hord, Randy Hord, Arthur Barlemann, Stan Horwood, Tommie Augustine and Dub Izzard. DAN GIBSON Dan Gibson, 75, of San Angelo died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his residence. At his request his body has been donated to the Texas Tech Medical School and no memorial services will be held. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Mr. Gibson was born June 27, 1924, in Fort Stockton. He retired from the Postal Service after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Saddle Club, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Aileen Royal Gibson, who were pioneer ranchers of West Texas. He also was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Gibson of San Angelo; two daughters, Renee Collins and husband, Robert, of Houston and Linda Sullivan and husband, Bruce, of Cord, Ark.; one stepson, Charles D. McDonald of Sonora; one sister, Fredda Bedell of Whitney; one sister-in-law, Louise Jones of San Angelo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
