Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home. Bob was born Sept. 18, 1941, to Bill and Evaline Sims Wrinkle in Winters, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Bronte later moving to Robert Lee. Bob will always be remembered for helping anyone who needed it and working to make Robert Lee a better community. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Wrinkle, and one brother, Willie Ray Wrinkle. ALICE REYNOLDS PITTSBURG - Alice Elizabeth Adkins Reynolds, 68, of Jefferson and formerly of Pittsburg, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. Service was Thursday, Feb. 24, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Beames, the Rev. Gene Lee and the Rev. James Duncan officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Erman Smith Funeral Home. Alice was born April 25, 1931, in Sonora. She was a Realtor, a rancher and a homemaker. Alice was chairwoman of the Marion/Cass Counties Soil Conservation District and secretary of the Marion County Forestry Association. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Lottie Hull Adkins and a son, Jerry Don Reynolds. DOYLE LAND MIDLAND - The photograph of Doyle Land was taken at an actual fire that ``The Bear'' was busy taking care of. Unknown to Doyle, the photo was taken by a photographer with a telephoto lens at a safe distance from the burning hot oil truck in a rural area of Midland. The family feels as though this photograph captured the spirit of their father. He fought his battle with cancer with the same spirit. Doyle was born June 21, 1933, in Lohn, Texas, to Ross and Pearl E. (Bloomer) Land. He was reared and educated in Richland Springs, Texas. Following high school he entered the Army and served in the Korean War. He married Barbara Ann Vaughan on Sept. 29, 1956, in Goldthwaite, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 27, 1999. Mr. Land was employed with the city of Midland Fire Department from June 1955 to September 1984. He became a driver in 1958, then a captain in August of 1965 and then battalion chief in January of 1973. He was known as ``The Bear.'' He also was the owner of Midland Fire Extinguisher Company since 1965. He died in a local hospital Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. Mr. Land is survived by son, Stephen Ross Land and his wife, Denise, and their sons, Keith and Jacob, of Midland; son, Dale Eugene Land and his wife, Doylene, of Odessa; Patrick Vaughan Land and his wife, Linda, and their children, Cara, Brianna and McKenzie, of Gardendale; daughter, Melissa A. Land of Midland; and brothers, Ross Land Jr. and Jerry Don Land, both of Arlington, Odean Land of San Saba and Kenneth A. Land of Edna. MAEOLA DeWITT Our beloved mother, Maeola passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000. She lived a beautiful life that was an inspiration to her family and friends. Mother was the second child born to Will and Dora Keno on June 16, 1912, in Flatonia, Texas. She married Millard DeWitt in Lavaca County, Texas, and to this union seven children were born. The beloved family members who preceded her in death were husband, Millard; daughter, Marie; grandson, Gregory; four brothers, Melvin, Buddy, Willie and Edward; and five sisters, Lillie, Alberta, Dora, Bessie and Erlene. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Elvin Evans; five sons, Millard, Willie, Floyd and wife, Gladys, DeLarence and wife, Billie, and Langston and wife, Doretha; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three brothers, J.B., Robert Frank and Henry Keno. Mr. Ermis was born Aug. 30, 1931, in Austin to the late Agathus Scott and passed away Feb. 26, 2000, in Canton following a long illness. He was an adopted son of the late John and Frances Michna and a graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron. He attended college in San Diego and the Lutheran church in Wills Point. He was an U.S. Marine and U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He was married to the former Wanda Stroud on June 2, 1968, in Durant, Okla.
