Rosary was at 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in San Angelo with the Rev. Charles Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Regina was born Oct. 7, 1962, in San Angelo to John and Linda Decker. She was a 1981 graduate of San Angelo Central High School and received an associate's degree in commercial art from Texas State Technical College in Waco. Regina married her high school sweetheart Mark Bates on July 30, 1983, in San Angelo. Regina was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather John J. Decker; her maternal grandparents, George and Louise Proffitt; and her mother-in-law, Marcia Bates. Survivors include her husband, Mark A. Bates, and two daughters, Kelsey and Catie Bates, all of Albuquerque; parents, John and Linda Decker of San Angelo; brother, Chad Decker and wife, Debra, and their daughter, Paige, of Magnolia; paternal grandmother, Mrs. John J. While she faced tremendous challenges battling rheumatoid arthritis, she always displayed a positive attitude. She inspired those who knew her with her courage, love and compassion for others, in spite of her own circumstances. MARIELLEN DICKERSON PEYTON CLEBURNE - Mariellen Dickerson Peyton was born Nov. 9, 1911 in Cleburne. She passed away July 28, 2000, at the age of 88 in Granbury. She was married to Daniel Hendricks Peyton, who preceded her in death. Mary spent her childhood in Cleburne, and after her marriage to Dan in 1940, she moved to Pecos. After receiving a bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women, Mary pioneered her love of art into a lifelong career as a self-taught architectural and interior designer. She is survived by daughters, Susan Peyton Silliman, Ellen Peyton Weinacht and Lisa Peyton Fielder; sisters, Jessie Mae (Ted) Cousins and Rebecca Nell Dickerson; grandchildren, Lou Ellen Lewis Weinacht, Jennifer Weinacht Willigrod, Daniel Peyton Fielder and Timothy Lambert Fielder; and four great-grandchildren. LAVERNE KATHRINE HOUPT Laverne Kathrine Houpt, 76, of San Angelo, passed away July 27, 2000, at her residence. Paul Terry, chaplain of Hospice of San Angelo, officiating. Mrs. Houpt was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Lamesa to Howard and Edna Chapman. She married Henry Harrison Houpt on March 15, 1946, in Lamesa. Laverne was a hand winder at Ethicon and retired from there. She was a member of the Ethicon retirement club. She was a member of Harris Avenue Baptist Church and had attended the Alathean Sunday school class for many years. Laverne was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She fought a long courageous battle with cancer.
