Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 26, 1907, in Fort Stanton, N.M. A World War II veteran, he served as a Merchant Marine and as a combat instructor to the Chinese Army. He worked in civil service at Goodfellow Air Force Base and for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Survivors include a son, Gilbert Gibson of San Angelo; a daughter, Parvola Woodruff of San Angelo; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Ettie Morrow BRADY - Ettie Lea Morrow, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, in a local nursing home. Service will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with burial in Live Oak Cemetery. Wynona Ellison BRADY - Wynona G. Ellison, 88, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, in Brady. Service was Monday in Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Voca Cemetery. She was born July 18, 1912, in McCulloch County. She was a postmistress in Voca and a member of the Church of Christ of Voca. Jimmy Webb COLEMAN - Jimmy Lee Webb, 53, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, in a local care center. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mertzon. Burial will follow in Mertzon Cemetery. Francisco was born in Miles, Texas, on March 22, 1923. He fell in love and married Maria Alvesa Martinez on Dec. 24, 1943. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railway for 35 years and was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mertzon. He is remembered by four sons and three daughters and their loving spouses, Francisco Flores and Beatriz of San Angelo, Sesar Flores and Adelina of Odessa, Harvey Flores and Agora of Mertzon and Ruben Flores of Springdale, Ark., Dora Garza and Antonio of San Angelo, Tina Tierce and Terry of San Angelo and Delma Molina and Charlie of Sherwood. He is kept in loving regard by his three sisters, Amelia Mediano of San Angelo, Anita Valdez of Odessa and Longania Burgess of Pecos. He has 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother and a sister, Manuel Rodriguez and Augustina Lopez. Pallbearers will be Alfredo Torres, Eddie Mediano, Sesar Flores Jr., Stephen Flores, Eli Flores and Nicholas Flores. Francisco Flores was a dedicated father and husband. He was an avid fisherman, a great handyman and a wonderful cook. He never missed an opportunity to grill up a barbecue for his entire family. Many wonderful memories were made at Grandpa's house. His presence in our lives will be sorely missed. Bradshaw, 86, of McCamey died Aug. 25, 2000, in Midland Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the First Baptist Church of McCamey with the Rev. Paul Evans and the Rev. Brian Crittendon officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey. Arthur was born Aug. 20, 1914, in Eastland County to Ralph and Lenora Bradshaw. He was the third eldest of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ed Bradshaw and J.C. Bradshaw; and sister Bernice Buckbee. In 1935, he married Lottie Bennett and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage May 11. In 1936, Arthur, Lottie and their daughter, Willadean, moved to McCamey where Arthur worked as a pumper in the oil field. In 1945, Arthur and his brother, Rankin, formed Bradshaw Oil Well Service, which operated until 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served on the board of the McCamey Independent School District for 16 years. He also served on the Upton County Appraisal Board for 12 years. Arthur will be remembered for always having the courage to do the right thing. His many friendships and the love he had for his family serve as a great testimonial of his life. He will always be a beacon that will shine bright in the hearts of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. GLENN ELDON LAWSON Glenn Eldon Lawson went to his Lord on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000. He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Coffeyville, Kan. Glenns undergraduate work at Tulsa University was in the field of petroleum engineering. He completed graduate courses at the University of Houston. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Carley in 1941. They raised two children, their daughter, Becky, and son, Billy. During World War II Glenn worked in a highly classified position at Douglas Air Craft Co. before enlisting in the service of his country. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and the position of infantry battalion sergeant major. After military service he was employed by Stanolind Oil & Gas Co. in North Texas, Tulsa, Okla., and Houston. Upon retirement from Tenneco in 1983 the industry recognized him with the American Petroleum Institute Distinguished Service Award. Glenn was very active in Bellaire United Methodist Church in Houston where he was a bass soloist for 30 years. He became associated with Rice University in the athletic program and served as a volunteer for 35 years. He continued this service for Angelo State University for 11 years after moving to San Angelo in 1988. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois; his daughter, Becky, and his son, Billy and his wife, Jan. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Trey and Brandi Henderson, Tommy and Lainey Strohm and Andy Lowery; his great-granddaughter, Lindsay Strohm; his brother, Bob Lawson and his wife, Joan; his sister, Peggy Shoemaker and her husband, Arthur. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at First United Methodist Church of San Angelo. He married Nancy Fulkerson on Aug. 30, 1958, in Crane. He spent his childhood in the Edith Community near Robert Lee and was a longtime San Angelo resident. He was retired from GTE and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a very talented musician and his love of playing country and bluegrass music was a great joy in his life. He had played the last 25 years with his band Sammie Duncan and the Country Kings. Prior to that had played with many bands and wonderful musicians in the West Texas area. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Duncan of San Angelo; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and James Lemley of San Angelo; a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Sabra Duncan of Midland; six grandchildren, Jamie Lemley of San Angelo, Brittany and Dustin Wade of Midland, Clayton Duncan of Abilene, Colby Wendeborne of Hamilton and Sammi Duncan of Midland. CHARLCIA LYNDELL UNGER Charlcia Lyndell Unger, 76, of San Angelo died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at her residence. Box 160, Christoval, TX 76935. B. WELBY BILLINGS DALLAS B. Welby Alexander Billings died on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in full confidence of the Lord. He suffered a sudden onset of acute T-cell leukemia. B. was born Nov. 4, 1959, in Memphis, Tenn., to Paul Barrett and Karen Love Young Billings. He graduated from the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1978 where he lettered in golf, basketball and football. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. B. married Laura Beth Warren on Dec. 28, 1985, in San Angelo. B. and Laura Beth resided in Franklin, Tenn., for nine years where B. worked in the food brokerage and golf industries. The Billingses moved to the Dallas area in 1994 where for the last six years B. was employed as an independent sales representative in the golf industry. He was an active member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church where he served in the childrens ministry. B. was passionate about his family, and loved to spend time fishing, hitting baseballs and golf balls with Benjamin and watching Sarah Caroline perform in theater, ballet recitals and other creative pursuits. B. enjoyed genealogical research and appreciated his Southern heritage. Those surviving him include his wife, Laura Beth Billings; children, Sarah Caroline, age 8; and Benjamin Lawrence, age 4. Services are pending at Gilbreath Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries GLENDA ANN COBB JOYCE Glenda Ann Cobb Joyce, of Monahans passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in a Temple hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born to Fred Eugene Cobb and Ruby Ford Cobb, Sept. 29, 1935, in Nacogdoches, Glenda was raised on the family farm in San Augustine County. With the passing of her mother during the birth of her sister, Glenda became the watchful big sister helping her father, grandmothers, Aunt Vera Ford and Aunt Ruth Ford raise her sisters and brothers. In August 1948, her father relocated her family to Midland where she graduated from Midland High School. She married Robert B. Joyce of McCamey on Aug. 5, 1954. Bob went to work immediately for Northern Natural Gas Company. During 30 years of marriage, the couple moved multiple times residing in Fort Stockton; Hobbs, N.M.; Eldorado; Chinook, Mont.; and Grand Junction, Colo. She was not only a lifetime homemaker, a loving mother and sister, and adoring grandmother, she was also a talented cook, decorator, and friend to many. Her heart of gold touched many during her life and will be missed dearly by all she loved and encountered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby Cobb; and her sister, Elizabeth Ruth Cobb. She is survived by one son, Robert B. GLENN ELDON LAWSON Glenn Eldon Lawson went to his Lord on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000. He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Coffeyville, Kan. Glenns undergraduate work at Tulsa University was in the field of petroleum engineering. He completed graduate courses at the University of Houston. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Carley in 1941. They raised two children, their daughter, Becky, and son, Billy. During World War II Glenn worked in a highly classified position at Douglas Air Craft Co. before enlisting in the service of his country. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and the position of infantry battalion sergeant major. After military service he was employed by Stanolind Oil & Gas Co. in North Texas, Tulsa, Okla., and Houston. Upon retirement from Tenneco in 1983 the industry recognized him with the American Petroleum Institute Distinguished Service Award. Glenn was very active in Bellaire United Methodist Church in Houston where he was a bass soloist for 30 years. He became associated with Rice University in the athletic program and served as a volunteer for 35 years. He continued this service for Angelo State University for 11 years after moving to San Angelo in 1988. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois; his daughter, Becky, and his son, Billy and his wife, Jan. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Trey and Brandi Henderson, Tommy and Lainey Strohm and Andy Lowery; his great-granddaughter, Lindsay Strohm; his brother, Bob Lawson and his wife, Joan; his sister, Peggy Shoemaker and her husband, Arthur. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at First United Methodist Church of San Angelo. Alice married Kenneth Ellis Wilson on July 4, 1937, and were never apart for 63 years. Ralph Ellis Wilson joined the family in 1942 and brought much love and happiness into her world. Some of Alices joys were participating in the San Angelo Garden Club over the years, as well as the Lydia Ruth Sunday School at First United Methodist Church.
