Survivors include two sons, Lee Sellers of Brady and Randy Sellers of Phoenix; a sister, Mamie Preas of Brady; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries JOHN HENRY EVERS John Henry Evers, 83, of San Angelo died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in a local hospital. He was born July 1, 1917, in Union City, N.J., and was a licensed electrician before retirement. John was a sergeant in 8th Army Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1946 after serving his country at home and abroad nearly three years. John married Mabel Evers in 1942 and enjoyed 58 years together until her death on Feb. 11, 2000. He is survived by three daughters, Karin Thomas of San Angelo, Jacqelyn Lambert of Georgia and Nancy DeMarkis of Virginia; a brother, Louis Evers of New York City; a sister, Zena Cassidy of New York; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was not only loved by his family, but also admired for his strength in adversity. After becoming paralyzed in 1997, he took to model boat building. Although confined to a wheelchair and in constant pain, with tedious effort "Jack" created model ships and boats for display at their seaside home in Florida. He took great pride in his work and was pleased to gift them later to family, friends and caretakers. A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in San Angelo. Pastor Chester McCown and the members of Trinity treated John as one of their own members in the last few months of his life. GLENN ELDON LAWSON Glenn Eldon Lawson went to his Lord on Friday, Aug. 25, 2000. He was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Coffeyville, Kan. Glenn's undergraduate work at Tulsa University was in the field of petroleum engineering. He completed graduate courses at the University of Houston. òe married his high school sweetheart, Lois Carley in 1941. They raised two children, their daughter, Becky, and son, Billy. During World War II Glenn worked in a highly classified position at Douglas Aircraft Co. before enlisting in the service of his country. He attained the rank of staff sergeant and the position of infantry battalion sergeant major. After military service he was employed by Stanolind Oil & Gas Co. in North Texas, Tulsa, Okla., and Houston. Upon retirement from Tenneco in 1983 the industry recognized him with the American Petroleum Institute Distinguished Service Award. Glenn was very active in Bellaire United Methodist Church in Houston where he was a bass soloist for 30 years. He became associated with Rice University in the athletic program and served as a volunteer for 35 years. He continued this service for Angelo State University for 11 years after moving to San Angelo in 1988. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois; his daughter, Becky, and his son, Billy and his wife, Jan. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Trey and Brandi Henderson, Tommy and Lainey Strohm and Andy Lowery; his great-granddaughter, Lindsay Strohm; his brother, Bob Lawson and his wife, Joan; his sister, Peggy Shoemaker and her husband, Arthur. Born to Frank G. and Josephine Hiezman Hoelscher on Dec. 7, 1907, Anne was a lifelong resident of Runnels County. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen and an active member of the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers. She married Joseph John Fuchs on Oct. 26, 1926, in Olfen. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1959. She also was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth; her daughter, Rose Marie Kasberg; and grandchildren, Kevin Fuchs, John, Richard and Roseanne Kasberg.
