Aubrey Crockett COLEMAN - Aubrey Crockett, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, in a local hospital. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery in Brownwood. He was born Jan. 28, 196, in May. He taught at Sipe Spring and Bangs and worked as a Texas highway patrolman in Brownwood. He retired as a teacher in Coleman in 1979 and worked at Stevens Funeral Home. He was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Audie Crockett of Coleman; two daughters, Jaydena Wagstaff of El Paso and Jean Ellen Cantwell of Brownwood; two sons, Joe E. WILLIAM ALBERT SHIRLEY William Albert "Bill" Shirley passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord Wednesday morning, Sept. 27, 2000. Bill was born Aug. 8, 1913, to Joel Kelly and Eula Bills Shirley. Bill graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1936, and he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. From 1942-1945, during World War II, Bill worked at the Sangamon Ordinance Plant in Illiopolis, Ill. While in Illinois he met his future wife, Marjorie. They came to San Angelo in 1946 so Bill could work for Model Laundry. Later in 1946 he purchased a floral shop and Shirley Floral Co. was born. He worked in the laundry and floral business for 11 years years before he dedicated his entire business efforts to the flower business in 1957. The flower business truly reflected his love of people and his gift of sharing with all whom he met. In 1982, he retired from the daily operation of the flower shop. During the past few years he has shared his love and respect for all as a volunteer at Shannon Women's and Children's Hospital. Bill also was a dedicated member of the Downtown Lions Club and had been called the oldest living Past District Governor of Lions internationally. He served as district governor in 1940-1941 while still living in Paris, Texas, after college. Bill's love and concern to serve his customers the best that he could was a reason for his involvement in the State and National Floral Associations. He served as president of the Texas State Florist Association and the WesTexas New Mexico Florist Association. Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shirley. Survivors include his wife, Marge Shirley of San Angelo; his children, William Albert Shirley Jr. and wife, Colleen, of Dallas, Tina Marie Newsome and husband, Fitzhugh, of Arlington, Joel Paul Shirley and wife, Terry, of San Angelo, Christopher John Shirley of Austin and Robert Marc Shirley and wife, Sandy, of Fort Worth; a special family member, Pat Shirley-Becker of Austin; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eloise Shirley of Paris; and a niece, Susan Greb of Paris. He was past president and board member of Parents Without Partners in San Angelo, member and past officer of LULAC of Ballinger and Amarillo and was a active in local, state and national politics. He was active in Student Ministries at Amarillo College and was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff L. Sarkey in 1964, and his mother, Julia Starkey Updegrave in 1992 and his grandparents. Born Oct. 6, 1929, in San Angelo to George C. and Ruth Carson Magruder, she was a longtime resident of Kerr County. Maggie grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central High School class of 1946. Following graduation she attended Ward Belmont Junior College for two years, then moved to Austin and attended the University of Texas. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business in 1950. Maggie worked with her beloved husband, Dan, as the president of Kelco in Kerrville for more than 20 years. Maggie was an avid bridge player and loved playing games. On Dec. 6, 1969, in El Paso, she married Dan Keleher and she was his life partner. Among her survivors are her husband, Dan Keleher of Mountain Home; five stepchildren, Dan Keleher Foster of Fort Worth, Dan G. Keleher of Wichita, Kan., Loree J. Horton of Eads, Tenn., Denton D. Keleher of Wichita and Linda S. Buck of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and many friends. She was preceded in death by a stepson; a brother; and her parents. A celebration of Maggie's life will held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the families home in Mountain Home. She was a homemaker and had lived in Gustine for the past 40 years, moving there from Midland. She was Catholic.
