Lee was born Aug. 20, 1927, to Elmer Lee and Mary Alcorn Jenkins in Hearne. She married Guy Hill and he preceded her in death in 1962. Lee had been a resident of San Angelo since 1970. She worked as a cafeteria worker for the San Angelo Independent School District. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons, Jimmy Hill and his wife, Evelyn, David Hill and wife, Debbie, Bobby Hill and wife, Donna, all of San Angelo, and John Hill of Fort Stockton; two daughters, Mary Hill of San Angelo and Mary Sue Weathersby of Oregon; close companion of many years, D.W. Schobel of San Angelo; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. DOUGLASS C. CAMPBELL SONORA - Douglass C. Campbell, 72, of Sonora died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in a San Angelo hospital. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Sonora Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kerbow Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Winters. He was a pipeline technician for Lone Star Gas for 29 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Loyce Campbell of Sonora; one son, James Campbell of San Angelo; one brother, Lloyd Campbell of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Jean McCampbell of Midland and Mildred Tabor of Miles; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. WILLIAM STANLEY 'STAN' SCATTERGOOD William Stanley Scattergood, 90, of San Angelo passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in a San Angelo nursing home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, in Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with Stanley Lockhart of Johnson Street Church of Christ officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Stan was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, on Dec. 16, 1910, to Frank and Betty Scattergood. He was married to Grace Smith on April 16, 1934. He was a member of and past West Coast commander of the Canadian Legion and a member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ. His wife, Grace, preceded him in death. As a member of the Toronto Scottish Regiment, Stan served with the 1st Canadian Armored Division during World War II, in Europe from 1941 to 1945. He moved with his family to Pasadena, Calif., in 1953, where he resided for 32 years, working at his trade of tool and die maker. He moved to San Angelo at his retirement in 1985. He is survived by one brother, Kenneth F. Scattergood and wife, Billye J., of San Angelo; five children, Ms. Dorothy D. Mrs. Sullivan was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Stillwell, Okla. She married J.C. "Willie" Sullivan April 19, 1936, in Baird. He preceded her in death. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan moved to San Angelo in 1941. Mrs. Sullivan was a homemaker and an active Christian. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bena Swank and Florine Nixon; and her brother, Elbert Thompson. She was active in the Jewish Roots Study Group, led by Sam Peak, where she made many dear and loving friends. Cosette used her artistic abilities to thrill family and friends with beautiful portraits and still life. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jerry Schulze, Dr. Raj Cheruku, the staff of Shannon Emergency Room and Skilled Nursing Unit. Services are pending at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries DONALD JOHN WELCH Donald John Welch, 68, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in Shannon Medical Center. He was born March 6, 1932. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Service will be officiated by Pastor Sid Thompson with prayer and special scripture readings by Chaplain Kenneth Patrick, Pastor Ray Thompson and Pastor Marvin Gilley. Mr. Welch served in the U.S. Air Force from August 1952 through November 1956. He then worked for the U.S. Postal service as a letter carrier for 35 years. He served as secretary-treasurer for the NALC Union from 1976-1996. Upon his retirement in 1992 he worked for Baptist Memorials Center. Donald was a football official for 25 years, which he truly enjoyed along with bowling, fishing and spending time with all of his family. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on the council for many years. Donald married Betty Jean Coats on Feb. 5, 1955. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Jean Welch; three daughters, Patty Robbins and husband, Rocky, Barbara Welch and Carol Cooper and husband Alan, all of San Angelo; one son, Donald Welch and wife, Diane, of Grapevine. He also is survived by nine grandchildren, Robert and Melinda Robbins, Curt Martin, Shane and Misty Burke, Kelli and Brady Cooper and Erica and John Welch; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in Kilgore City Cemetery with the Rev. Dewayne Beaty officiating. Arrangements are directed by Rader Funeral Home. Judson, son of John Elliott and Stella Goforth Bagwell, was born March 23, 1905, in Overton, Texas. He moved with his family to Kilgore, Texas, in 1914. He graduated from Kilgore High School, College of Marshall and Baylor University. Judson and Charleen Elder of Kilgore were married Aug. 18, 1928, and they had been married 67 years at the time of her death in 1996. They had moved to Longview where Judson had the first of several businesses. Two of those businesses were Motor Equipment Co. and Gregg Frozen Food Service. The frozen food "locker plant" was opened in 1943 in answer to problems caused by food rationing during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Longview Chamber of Commerce, the Boating Trades Association of Texas and the MRAA Retailers Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Christine Bagwell; and a brother, Roger Bagwell. Judson is survived by a son, John Judson Bagwell Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Longview; and a daughter, Jane Bagwell McCrea and her husband, George, of San Angelo. He has four grandchildren, Beth McCrea Mayer, Winn McCrea, Deanne Bagwell Rose and Jud Bagwell; and two great-grandchildren, George Judson Mayer and Edwin Stephen Mayer. He also is survived by a sister-in-law, Edith Jackson Bagwell; brothers-in-law, Frank Elder and Jack Elder and his wife, Winter Dickson Elder; and a nephew, R.G. Bagwell.
