Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in Fairmont Cemetery with Deacon Katherine Lind of Emmanuel Episcopal Church officiating. Mr. Doss was born May 11, 1909, to Henry C. and Ola Mary Doss in Colorado City, Texas, where he was reared and attended schools. In 1927, he came to San Angelo as a scout for the American Republic Oil Company. He recalled in 1971 Standard-Times article one of the highlight experiences of those early days in the oil fields of a burning gas well in the Taylor-Link Field of Pecos County followed by dramatic efforts to shoot it out. He went independent in 1943, and later devoted his time to ranching the Pulliam Ranch north of San Angelo and another place in Concho County. In 1936, he was married to Theresa March of San Angelo who preceded him in death in 1995. As a member of San Angelo Country Club, he pursued his lifelong enjoyment of golfing. He is survived by his son, John March Doss of San Angelo; daughter, Theresa Doss Kaspar of Aspen, Colo.; granddaughters Vicky and Katherine Doss of Austin, and a great grandson, Ethan DePoister of Austin. Josefina was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Knickerbocker, Texas. She was a homemaker and resident of San Angelo all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos C. Ramirez and one son, Mario J. Ramirez. She had resided in San Angelo since 1958. She was born in Coryell County, Texas, Sept. 29, 1905, to W.D. McAdams and Matilda Caroline Hollingsworth McAdams. She was preceded in her eternal journey with our Lord by one son, Jay William Carter, and husband, J.B. Carter. In 1952, Lucille Carter married Clark Price who passed from this life in 1958. She worked a number of years at Baptist Memorials Center followed by several years with Shannon dietary department. Mrs. Price is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Lindsey of Odessa and Mary Lou Wilson and husband, Wm. C. Wilson, of San Angelo; and two sons, Edson Carter of San Angelo and Jessie Price and wife, Karan, of Crane. Johnsons Funeral Home MARTHA SEIBERT Martha Tera Seibert died Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2001. Martha was born Aug. 4, 1906, to Issac and Maude Van Zandt in Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis Seibert; sister-in-law, Lou Seibert; brother, Roscoe Van Zandt; and brother-in-law, Julius Seibert of Dallas. Surviving family members include her brother-in-law, Earl Seibert of Dallas, Beth Seibert of Dallas and her loving son, Larry Seibert, who remembers her forever as a loving, caring, mom. Also surviving are cousins, Roscoe and Jimmy Van Zandt; nephews, Bob Nance and Phil Seibert; and nieces, Sandra Seibert, Connie Bellanger and Eva Beth. Martha graduated from TCU and married her loving and devoted husband, Lewis, in 1940. She was excellent at tennis, winning many tournaments. She also played volleyball, softball, and won many swimming events. Another of her pastimes was playing the piano in the family home and being a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother. You never lose the ones youve loved, if you loved the ones youve lost. She was born Tommie Riddle to T.J. and Ada Riddle March 10, 1915, in Runnels County. She married Martin H. Benson Jan. 2, 1937, in San Angelo and had four children, Bill, Bobby, Lynell and Larry. A resident of San Angelo since 1954, she was a homemaker and a member of Chadbourne North Church of Christ. Bones was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Parker County. He attended school in Obrien, Texas. He married Josilou Stacy Jan. 22, 1943, in Penwell, Texas. After serving in the Army for six years that included service in France and Germany, Bones and Jo raised their two sons in Snyder. He retired from Chevron Pipeline after 35 years of service. Survivors include his sons, Keith and wife, Donna, of Wink and Ron and wife, Patsy, of San Angelo; grandchildren, Stacy Richardson and husband, David, of Wink, Stephanie and Brian Jarratt of Wink and Chelsea Maddux of Irving; great-grandchildren, Shelbi and Hollis Richardson and Lane Jarratt, all of Wink; a brother, Connally of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Deport, Texas, and Vida Hines of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bones was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years; three brothers, Bill, Donnie B. and Layton; and four sisters, Bessie, Octavia, Lucy and Hazel. After the loss of his wife, Bones remained in Snyder for six years until he moved to Wink for three years. In November 1998, Bones moved to Myrtlewood Estates in San Angelo, moving in July to Kermit Health Care Center. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care of the staff of Myrtlewood Estates, including the physical therapy department, the staff of Kermit Health Care Center, and all the employees and volunteers at the Snyder Senior Citizens Center. The sons will always remember Bones appreciation of caring for him after the loss of their mother. Johnsons Funeral Home EDA LISSO JANEK WALL Eda Lisso Janek, a long-time resident of the Wall community, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in a nursing home in Odessa. She was born on her parents ranch in Concho County on Nov. 30, 1905. After attending college in San Marcos, she taught in public schools in Conch, Runnels and Tom Green counties. She spent most of her teaching career, which formally ended in 1976, as the first-grade teacher in Wall community. She married William Bill Janek in July 1930, and shortly thereafter, moved to a farm in the Wall community. He preceded her in death in July 1961. After her retirement, she became active in the volunteer Pink Lady program at St. John Hospital in San Angelo. She was a member of the Wall Brethren Church. She is survived by two sons, Neal of Odessa, and Robert of Leavenworth, Kan.; three grandchildren, Kerry of Odessa, Kristie of Dallas, and Daryl of Leavenworth, Kan. She has one great-grandson, William of Odessa. She is also survived by an even larger family of students whom she taught in the over 30 years of teaching. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. at Wall Brethren Church on Tuesday, Oct. 2, with burial alongside her husband in Lawnhaven Cemetery. Johnsons Funeral Home MARTHA FAY DENTON Martha Fay Denton, 75, went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, Sept. 28, 2001, in Hendrick Memorial Center in Abilene, after a year long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 25, 1926, in Red River County to E.J. and Rosa Kidd. Fay enriched the lives of those around her with her sweet spirit, kind heart and loyal friendship. Fay was a kind, caring and multitalented person who loved her family, church and friends. She was a devoted wife to Charles Denton for 54 years. They married in San Angelo on Feb. 22, 1947. She was preceded in death by sisters, Florance Ryan, Add Ward and Annie Lee Green, all of Carlsbad, N.M. Fay is survived by her husband, Charles Denton of San Angelo; her brother, Wiley Kidd and wife, Latrel; and sister, Edna Hare and husband, G.B. of Carlsbad, N.M. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, in Fairmount Cemetery. Pete was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Watertown, S.D. He served as a ground radio communications technician on the United States Air Force for 23 years. During that time, he was stationed in the United States, Europe and Asia. He retired from GTE in 1999 after 17 years as a calibration technician. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Elaine Vera Roso; daughter, Elizabeth Marie; and son, Michael Brian. Mr. Petersons surviving family members are his mother, Inez Peterson; children, Doug Peterson, Debbie and Joe Huro, Barbara and David Churchill, Daryl and Della Peterson; numerous grandchildren; and many dear friends. Johnsons Funeral Home REV. COOPER WATERS The Rev. Cooper Waters, D.D., 86, of San Angelo, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Retirement Center. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at First Baptist Church, San Angelo. Family and friends are also welcome to attend a viewing from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Johnsons Funeral Home. The Rev. Waters was born March 25, 1915, to Lake and Lexie Waters at their homestead in eastern New Mexico. His family later moved to Wichita Falls, where he graduated from high school and attended Wichita Falls Junior College. In 1936, the Rev. Waters graduated from Baylor University and began his preaching ministry. He then pastored several Baptist churches in Roby, Merkel, Cisco, and Houston. In 1949, he became pastor of the First Baptist Church of Orange, Texas, where he served for 31 years. The Rev. Waters also actively served his community and various organizations including the Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, United Fund, Red Cross, and YMCA. He also served on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Boards of Trustees of Howard Payne Univ., East Texas Baptist Univ., the Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas, and the Orange Memorial (now Orange Baptist) Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anna Ruth Galloway Waters of San Angelo, and their three children and spouses, Anna Waters Niederer and husband, Ray, of Waco, Michael Waters and wife, Kathy, of Abilene, and Celia Beth Waters Black and husband, Mike, of Stanton. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, June LaFon of Wichita Falls, Texas. The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of contributions to Baptist Memorial Retirement Center in San Angelo, First Baptist Church in Orange, or Hendrick Medical Center Foundation in Abilene.
