Johnsons Funeral Home DEBORAH ANN HAIL ELDORADO Deborah Ann Hail of Sonora lost a courageous fight with cancer on Nov. 27, 2001. Although this was not her first battle with cancer, sadly it proved to be her last. Deb was born June 19, 1951, to Kenneth and Wincie Hail in San Angelo, Texas. She was a graduate of San Angelo Central High School and Angelo State University. Debs body was donated to the UTSA Health Science Center. Honoring her request for no funeral services, there will be a memorial and celebration of her life at the Sonora Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. The Rev. Lewis Allen of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Sonora will conduct the memorial service. For twenty years Deb was an employee of Halliburton Company in Sonora and Midland. Her desire to come home brought her back to Sonora where she most recently worked for Rafter W Feed Store. Her wonderful spirit and dedication always put her at the top of the list when a volunteer was needed. She organized and worked to make many local events successful including the Fling Ding, Sutton County Days, Chili Cook-Off and Sonora Game Dinner to name a few. She put many a mile on her old gray pickup hauling Kelly to barrel races and rodeos. If you couldnt find her on the road or socializing, you could find her playing softball or watching the Cowboys play football. Debs friends were countless, and they filled her life with love and laughter. Close friends remember her as Cupcake or Hot Dawg, but all who knew her remember her courage, strength and quick wit. The memories she leaves with her family and friends are endless. Debs beloved father, Kenneth Hail, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Ponsetti-Avritt; son-in-law, John Avritt; precious grandsons, Jake Ponsetti and Luke Avritt; her mother, Wincie Hail; brother, Steve Hail and his wife, Corrie; two nieces, Amy Hail Irons and Jennifer Hail Bell; and a nephew, Eric Hail. She also leaves her special companion, friend and caregiver, Mel Holt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. One of Debs favorite lines was, Ive hit a snag, Im running late. Well Deb, we wish this snag would have lasted longer because we will miss you more than words can express. Kerbow Funeral Home JACK E.
