All the world would be like heaven If we could have you back again. A light from our household is gone A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our home That can never be filled. May the God of Mercy care Over loved ones who are gone. Bless with consolation, Those left to carry on. The happy hours we once enjoyed How sweet their memories live. But death has left a vacant place, This world can never fill. How dearly we loved you and Prayed you might have lived. But Jesus beckoned And we had to give. God gave us strength to bear it And courage to fight the blow. What it has meant to lose you, God alone will ever know. We will meet you in Heaven. We love you and miss you. She had been a resident of Heritage House since April 1995, suffering from complications of Parkinsons disease. Born Mattie Mae Andrews on Feb. 22, 1907, to John Thomas and Tennie Arsula Moore Andrews in Arkadelphia, Ark., she moved at age six weeks with her mother and four living siblings to be with their father, who was working the lumber mill business around Onalaska, Texas. She was then raised by her older sister as well as several aunts and uncles, spending these years primarily in Texas, Arkansas and Arizona. In 1922, at age 15, Mattie Mae moved to the Sanatorium Hospital, where she lived in the dormitory and worked. During this time she met Frank Cotton Riter, and they were married on Sept. 23, 1923. They made their home on the Ritter homestead at Grape Creek and spent the following year in this area. Frank engaged in stock farming and working for the school systems. In 1960, they made their home in the Lake View area in San Angelo, and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary before Franks death in 1977.
