Paul Wayne Brown Sr. (Grandaddy), our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with his maker on Thursday, April 25, 2002, following a fatal car accident. He was 68 at the time of his unexpected death. He was born in Griffen, Ga., on April 29, 1933. Paul graduated from Griffen High School and had attended Angelo State University. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. He retired four years ago from Christian Village. Prior to retirement, Paul worked for R.G. Barry Corp. for 17 years in Goldsboro, N.C.; Laredo, Texas; and San Angelo, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29 (his birthday), at Johnsons Funeral Home. Emmitt was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline in September of 1992. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lonye and Pat Cain of Ozona; three grandchildren, Mrs. Deklyn Coates and husband, Fleet, of Ozona, and Cody Cain and Casey Cain, both of Spring Branch; three great-grandsons, Zane Coates of Ozona and Talon and Tanner Cain, both of Spring Branch; and a brother, H.E. John was born on April 13, 1913, in East Bloomfield, N.Y., to Michael and Kathryn Gainey Barry. He received his R.N. from Rochester State Hospital, Rochester, N.Y., his bachelors degree from University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y., and his masters degree in hospital administration from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. He served as head of administration of Torbett Clinic and Hospital, Marlin, Texas, and then entered the uniformed division of the United States Public Health Service as assistant administrator for the Staten Island, N.Y., hospital. He later served as administrated officer for hospitals in Savannah, Ga.; Boston, Mass.; and Norfolk, Va.; retiring in 1968 with the rank of Naval Captain. During World War II, he served in the medical corps at Camp Stewart, Ga., and twice in the European Theater. After retiring to San Angelo, Texas, he taught in the nursing department of Angelo State University. He was a past president of the Community Action Faithful Navigator of the Monsignor Maas Assembly of the KofC. He was past president of the parish council of the Sacred Heart Cathedral and head usher. He was a member of Holy Angels Church where he was an usher and a member of the Adoration Society. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Joseph Barry; and two sisters, Rita Donavon and Molly Williams. Mrs. Higgins was born on Dec. 23, 1927, in Summers, Ark., the daughter of Everett and Vera Jarrett. She worked as a nurses aide in Oakland, Calif., after graduation from high school. She married Bobby J. Alsobrook on April 12, 1952. They traveled extensively before settling in San Angelo, Texas, in 1965. They divorced in 1976 but maintained friendly relations thereafter. She shared the last years of her life with Gilbert Higgins, whom she married on Oct. 18, 1991. She had a deep love for children and animals and adopted many orphaned cats and dogs. She had a passion for helping those less fortunate than herself and most recently found reward in counseling recovering alcoholics through the Alcoholics Anonymous program. She led others on the path to sobriety through her own experience, having successfully done the same thing 12 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Higgins; two sisters, Maxine Graham and her husband, Orville, of Modesto, Calif.; Pauline Mee of Pollock Pines, Calif.; a brother, Everett Jarrett Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., and his wife, Ruby, of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; a son, Bobby Alsobrook Jr. and his wife, Joyce, and their children, Bobby III, Brian and Nicole of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Patti DeLaughter and her husband, Paul, and their children, Jonethan and Bonnie of San Angelo, Texas, and Paula Schilling and her husband, Jim, and their children, Trey and Seante McKnight of Abilene, Texas; and a grandson, Everett Alsobrook and his wife, Melanie, of San Angelo, Texas. Services are pending at Stevens Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Obituaries DOROTHY ANNE AISHMAN Dorothy Anne Aishman, our beloved wife and mother, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy was born on Aug. 2, 1926, to Thomas Boyd and Auda Williams Osborne in Caddo, Texas. She moved with her parents to Iraan, Texas, in 1928, and lived much of her life there. She graduated from Iraan High School in 1943, and from the Shannon Hospital School of Nursing in San Angelo in 1946. She was married to Will Edward Aishman on March 7, 1947, in Iraan. Will and Dorothy celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago. Dorothy was a registered nurse and served on the staff of Iraan General Hospital from the early 1960s to the mid 1970s. After moving to Snyder, Texas, in 1976, Dorothy served on the staff of Cogdell Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1980. Dorothy and Will moved to San Angelo in 1991 and resided happily at Rio Concho Manor. Dorothy attended the First Christian Church and the First United Methodist Church in Iraan, and the First United Methodist Church in San Angelo. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Will Aishman of San Angelo, Texas; by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Judy Aishman of Houston, Texas, and Ed and Sheree Aishman of Iraan, Texas; by her son, Rick Aishman and special family friend, Tom Phipps, both of Dallas, Texas; by her grandsons, Jon Aishman of San Angelo, Texas, and Rance Aishman of Lubbock, Texas; by two sisters-in-law, Francys Noland of Hurst, Texas, and Lucille Whitlock of Del Rio, Texas; by other members of her extended family; and by a host of friends in Iraan, Snyder and San Angelo. The family will receive friends at Johnsons Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, and a graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in Restland Cemetery in Iraan, Texas. Dorothy received loving care from the staff of Hospice of San Angelo during her final months and from the staff of Baptist Memorials Center Nursing Home during her final days. He was born May 15, 1929, in Pflugerville, Texas, to Harvie and Lizzie Lisso, who preceded him in death, along with a brother, Marvin Lisso of Paducah, Kentucky. Rains-Seale Funeral Home WILLIAM ALBERT DODSON William Albert Al Dodson, 61, died peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2002, with his family by his side. Al was born Oct. 17, 1940, to William Raymond and Jane Roberts Dodson in Sherman, Texas. The family moved to San Angelo in 1956, and Al graduated from Central High School in 1959. Al served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Shangri-La before beginning a successful 30-year career at GTE Southwest. Als father introduced him to Nickie Salvato, and they were married Sept. 9, 1966. Al and Nickie raised their son and twin daughters in the San Angelo area. Al loved the outdoors, and his home could always be recognized by the immaculate yard he kept. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, or playing a round of golf with friends. Al was very personable, and it seemed he never met a stranger. He had a special gift for bringing happiness and laughter to others. Al was preceded in death by his parents. Al is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nickie; his three children, Brody and wife, Michelle, of Flower Mound, and Crysti Dodson and Mysti Dodson, both of Lewisville; his two granddaughters, Meagan Claire and Peyton Allison; and his sister, Betty Brooks and husband, Fred, of Houston. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, in Johnsons Funeral Home Chapel with Father Charles Greenwell officiating. Burial will be in the Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Following military retirement, he worked as a public safety dispatcher for the City of San Angelo from 1973 until 1989. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Francile; a son, William D. Morrill II and his wife, Kristine, of San Angelo; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elloyd Glasheen.
