Graveside service will be at 7 a.m. Sunday, July 6, in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville, Texas. Prior to moving to Bellville, she was associated with the Dallas school system for a number of years. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Lovell of San Angelo; grandchildren, Tom Lovell and wife, Laura, and their children, Linsey, Stacy and Brodie, Ronnie Lunsford and his daughters, Leigh and Lauren, Rob Lunsford and his children, Trey, Bret and Taren, Kathy Frost and husband, Ed, and their children, Clayton and Ashley and Jerrie Markwalter and husband, Nick; son-in-law, Bob Lunsford and wife, Glenna. Elise had a caring and generous heart and was affectionately known to all as "Munny." She valued and cherished her friends and family. May she live in the hearts and minds of those she leaves behind. BOBBY LEE BARTON Shaffer Funeral Home Bobby Lee Barton was born on Aug. 23, 1924, and passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2003. He survived by his wife, Mary P. Barton; a son, Roy C. Black, 88, of Big Lake died on Monday, June 30, 2003, in Big Lake, Texas. Jack was born Sept. 3, 1914, in Morgan, Texas, to Myrtle Doty and Earnest Black. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1934 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1939. He played on the Baylor Bears football team from 1935-39. He received his Master of Arts degree from Sul Ross State University in 1949. Following graduation from Baylor, he taught and coached in Bruceville-Eddy for two years and Temple for one year. In 1943, he moved to West Texas where he was an educator in Big Lake, Eldorado and Iraan until he retired in 1979. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His favorite hobby was making hunting knives. He was a member of the Big Lake Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. In his earlier years, he was very active in the Concho Valley Boy Scouts of America. In 1961, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor given to adults for service rendered. He served as a member of the board for Reagan County Hospital and was a member of the board for Trailblazers. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Ken Black and wife, Katha, of Dallas; daughter, Carol Staskus and husband, Al, of Austin; grandchildren, Brett McAnally and wife, Chrissy, of Austin, Suzanne Anderson and husband, Russell, of Plano and Kacy Black of Nacogdoches. He has five great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church in Big Lake, with the Rev. Tim Fahrenthold and the Rev. J. B. Bitner officiating the service. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in Roby Cemetery in Roby, Texas. ROBERT C 'BOBBY' BOLF Johnson's Funeral Home Robert C. "Bobby" Bolf, 70, of Fort McKavett passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27 in Miles Cemetery, Miles, Texas, with the Rev. Mike Andress officiating. Bobby was born June 24, 1933, in Rowena, Texas, to Jeff Bolf and Alvie Kohutek. He graduated from San Angelo High School on May 27, 1952. Bobby joined the United States Army on Dec. 18, 1953. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lester Bolf; and one sister, Dorothy Swaim. TROIS FRANCES MEADOR COFFEY Johnson's Funeral Home Trois Frances Meador Coffey was born as the only child of Henry Haskell and Margaret Frances Meador in Floydada, Texas, on July 4, 1914. God called her home on Monday, June 23, 2003. Trois was her high school valedictorian and attended North Texas State Teachers College from 1930-1931. On Sept. 13, 1931, she married her McLean High School sweetheart, John Boyd Coffey, in Amarillo and they began a 72-year loving adventure. They moved to a farm in McLean where their first daughter, Frances Marlene, was born. In 1934, they moved to Kermit, Texas, where John began work for an oil company that eventually was bought out by Cabot Corporation. In about 1940, they moved to Chula Vista, Calif., and bought a service station and auto repair shop. Trois began her career as a bookkeeper until their second daughter, Nancy Kay, was born. In 1946, they moved back to Kermit, and John went back to work for Cabot. In Kermit, while the children were in school, Trois returned to work as a bookkeeper, working first for a concrete company then for a local CPA. For Trois, this was the ideal position for she had a keen mind for business and kept the office running smoothly. Trois and John retired and moved to San Angelo in December 1983. Trois loved working and she frequently recalled particularly difficult accounting problems that she helped solve. She also loved music and all types of sports. Her favorite sport was baseball and she was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan. Trois was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was also very active in the Business Men's Bible Class. Trois was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Margaret Meador and her two daughters, Frances Marlene Coffey Williams and Nancy Kay Coffey Hall. She is survived by her husband, John Boyd Coffey of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Margaret Ann Baker, Marla Sue Williams, Marsha Jo Justus, Mary Frances Harris, John Boyd Hall and Crystal Hall; one aunt, Grace Caton; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of Christian friends and many fond memories. Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27, in the Chapel of Johnson's Funeral Home, with burial in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. James Mitchell and the Rev. Darrell T. MONTERAY DAVIS Johnson's Funeral Home Monteray Davis, 88, a longtime resident of San Angelo, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2003. She was preceded in death by parents, Newton and Sallie Davis; and four brothers. KATY BAKER DORAN Johnson's Funeral Home Our dear mother and grandmother, Katy Doran, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2003, with her children at her side. Marion Kathryn "Katy" Saenger Baker Doran was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Cuero, Texas, to Marion (Dinter) and Emil E. Saenger. Katy grew up in Kerrville, Texas, where she attended Schreiner Institute and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. She married Billie C. Baker in June of 1947 and taught first grade in San Angelo, Texas, residing there until 1974. Katy married Jack K. Doran in January of 1974 and lived in Corsicana, Texas, until 1999. After a brief return to Kerrville, she moved to Sugar Land in 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands. Katy is survived by a sister, Flo Lindner of Comfort; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Ann and Ed Farris of Sugar Land; and son and daughter-in- law, Charles and Leslie Baker of San Antonio. She is survived by grandsons, Chad, Edward and Raymond Farris and Cameron, Wilson and Charlie Baker; nephew, Patrick Lindner; and nieces, Marian Willenborg, Dorothy Saathoff, and Connie Melvin. NEVA EATON Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Funeral service for Neva Eaton, 69, of Odessa will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, in the Sunset Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Clark Racca officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Eaton passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in the Medical Center Hospital after a courageous battle with recurring cancer. She was born June 17, 1934, in Whitesboro, Texas, to Glen and Kathleen Foster. She and Joe Eaton were married March 3, 1951, in Lovington, N.M. Mrs. Eaton attended Odessa High School and graduated as a licensed vocational nurse from Odessa College in Kermit. She worked as an LVN for 17 years in Kermit until retirement in 1988. She enjoyed going to Ruidoso, N.M., and church. She also loved her grandchildren and enjoyed crocheting for them. She was a resident of Kermit for 48 years and moved to Odessa in 1997. She was a member of the Christian Church of Odessa and a former member of the Christian Church of Kermit. Survivors include her husband; daughter, Cathy Pawkett and husband, Donnie, of Austin; son, Danny Eaton and wife, Darlene, of Sonora; sister, Shirley Emerick of Odessa; four grandchildren, Brandi Pawkett, Jamie Gibbons, Justin Eaton and Kara Eaton; two great-grandchildren, Zane and Elizabeth Gibbons; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. FANNIE ELIZABETH FELLER Robert Massie Funeral Home Fannie Elizabeth Feller, 91, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003, in a local nursing home. Fannie Elizabeth was born Oct. 16, 1911, in Victoria County, Texas, to Gather and Minnie Haynes. Fannie was a dress maker by trade. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Feller. Survivor is her son, Robert Feller of San Angelo; and many nieces and nephews. FELIX GUERRERO Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North Mr. Felix Guerrero, 45, of San Angelo, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Guerrero was born Sept. 3, 1957, in Cd. Acuna, Coah. Mexico. Prayer service was at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Interment will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Guerrero is survived by his wife, Margarita Guerrero; four sons, Felix Guerrero Jr., Juan Guerrero, Carlos Guerrero and Jorge Guerrero, all of San Angelo; one daughter, Brenda Guerrero of San Angelo; three brothers, Juan Guerrero, Salvador Guerrero of San Angelo and Cruz Guerrero of Houston; and three sisters, Fidelia Perez, Leonor Garcia and Victoria Garcia, all of San Angelo. Also surviving Mr. Guerrero is one granddaughter, Heather Rodriguez of San Angelo; and his mother- in-law, Loreto Varela of San Antonio. 'Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.' ZENO HEMPHILL Stevens Funeral Home COLEMAN - Zeno Hemphill was born in Coleman, Texas, on May 2, 1921, son of the late Charley Wade and Wagie Ellen Hemphill. He passed away June 27, 2003, in Abilene, Texas. He was the youngest of eight children. Zeno attended Coleman schools and graduated from Coleman High School in 1938. Following high school, he was employed by the First Coleman National Bank. After a year's employment at the bank, he enrolled at Texas A&M College. While a student at Texas A&M, Zeno married Josephine (Joe) Morris, also a Coleman County native. Following their marriage on Feb. 8, 1942, they returned to College Station to complete his formal education. Their first child, Lucy Rebecca (Becky) was born Nov. 9, 1942. With World War II in full swing, Zeno's class ('43) was accelerated and he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in January of 1943. Immediately following graduation, Zeno was commissioned with a rank of 2nd Lieutenant and went into armored force training at Fort Knox, Ky. He was then transferred to Fort Chaffee, Ark., where Joe and Becky joined him. Zeno was deployed overseas with the rank of 1st Lieutenant with the 716th Tank Battalion in June 1944. He served in the assault forces in the invasion of five Pacific islands. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery in action and also received a Purple Heart. While Zeno served overseas, Joe and Becky returned to the family ranch in Coleman County. After World War II, Zeno constructed a home on the banks of Jim Ned Creek in northern Coleman County and began their ranching business identified by their JZ brand. On Dec. 18, 1947, a son, Joseph Patrick (Joe Pat) was born. As the children began school in Coleman, the entire family became very active in 4-H, sports and church activities at First United Methodist Church in Coleman. Throughout his life, Zeno assumed an active role in community and youth related activities. He was a member of the Coleman Rodeo Association, having served as arena director and president of that organization. Zeno coached in the Little League baseball program and was an active leader in the Bluecat Booster Club. In addition to being an exemplary conservationist of his own ranch, Zeno once served as the district supervisor of the Soil and Conservation Service. In addition to gaining a reputation as a breeder of fine cattle, he was widely recognized as a horseman and registered Quarter Horse breeder. At one time, he was very active in training, showing and judging Quarter Horses as an accredited judge of the American Quarter Horse Association. In addition to being a conservationist, Zeno was an avid hunter and fisherman with a strong interest in wildlife conservation. For many years, he served as a director of First Coleman National Bank. Zeno was preceded in death by his wife, Joe; sisters, Dorothy, Verna Marie and Mary Louise; and brothers, Hays and Wade. In 1999, Zeno married Janie Brown. In recent years, Janie and Zeno enjoyed spending a great deal of time following the activities of all their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Zeno remained active as a rancher, horseman and conservationist until a few months preceding his death. Survivors include his wife, Janie; sister, Ruth Wittenburg of Rocksprings, Texas; brother, Lee Hemphill of Abilene, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Dale Greaves of Coleman; son and daughter-in-law, Joe Pat and Alice Hemphill of Coleman; granddaughter and husband, Pam and Tom Wolenski of Santa Fe, N.M.; granddaughter and husband, Cindy and Joey Herridge of Haltom City, Texas; grandson and wife, Heath and Danyelle Hemphill of Coleman; grandson and wife, Brent and Candys Hemphill of Coleman; great-grandchildren, Shelbi, Kade and Blake Greaves of Coleman and Gabriel Herridge of Haltom City, Texas; stepson and wife, Jacky and Candy Brown of Stephenville, Texas; stepdaughter, Vicki Avants of Coleman; step- grandchildren, Jake and Clay Brown, Shay and wife, Kelley Avants, Stacy and husband, Justin Moore, and Dusty Avants; and step-great-grandson, Layne Moore. MARY KATHERINE HUNT Johnson's Funeral Home We have lost our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary Katherine Hunt went into the garden alone to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ. One of the oldest living members of First Baptist Church of San Angelo, Mary was a member of the Sarah Sunday School Class. Born Sept. 5, 1917, in Clarksburg, W. Va., she was the third child of Charles David and Gertie Loraine Hagerty. The family moved to Texas in 1923. Mary was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress, always making garments for the entire family, even down to her daughter's dolls. Her husband, Tom C., preceded her in death in 1963, leaving Mary to raise two minor children, which she did with all the strong love and zest for life the little Irish, blond firecracker could muster. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Homer Hagerty, in 2001. "Mimi" leaves behind her two progeny, Tomasine Hunt Spieker and husband, Charles, of San Angelo and Don Carl Hunt and wife, Kelli, of Dallas. Her grandsons are Stephen Tres Spieker of San Angelo and Ty Sterling Spieker of Austin. She has two granddaughters of Dallas, Lauren Leigh and Rachel Katherine Hunt. She also is survived by four great- grandchildren, Amanda Kacee and Treston Hunter Spieker of Mertzon and Collin Slade and Alexis Shea Spieker of Midland. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Kinsey of San Marcos and Peggy Hamby of Houston; and many loving family members. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3 in Starks Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Delta Cemetery. Michael was born Sept. 10, 1962, in San Angelo. He was a stock-keeper. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hemmingway. Survivors include his wife, Donna Jones of San Angelo; mother, Mary Jones of Hayward, Calif.; daughter, Jasmin Jones of San Angelo; brothers, Tommy Jones and Victor Jones, both of San Angelo; sisters, Eva Jones-Johnson, Mary E. MARGARET ELIZABETH KOLB Johnson's Funeral Home Margaret Elizabeth Kolb, 56, of San Angelo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 25, 2003. To her family, she will always be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother. Margaret was a giving person who put other's needs before herself, a caregiver and someone who loved taking care of children. Margaret was preceded in death by parents, Benhard and Elvira Ott. Margaret is survived by her husband of 34 years, Wesley Kolb; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Fisher and husband, Dale; grandson, James Wesley Fisher; sisters, Bernardine Robinson and husband, Johnie and Diane Schaefer and husband, Donald; and brothers, Bernhard Ott and wife, Mae, and Charles Ott. ZOLA ANN (ZOE) LANCASTER ARLINGTON - Zola Ann (Zoe) Lancaster passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2003. She was born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Franklin, Ind., to Fred E. Lerch and Irene M. Lutz. She moved to Arlington, Texas, in 1988 from San Angelo. Zoe loved animals and loved people. She was the ideal mother, devoted wife and best friend. Zoe lived life fully, was known for her sense of humor and brought joy and laughter to all she met. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Raymond of Dallas; her grandchildren, Cody Raymond and Tami Raymond of Arlington; her son, Larry Skipper and his wife, Donna, of Orlando, Fla.; her ex-husband, James Skipper; ex-husband, Steve Lancaster; and stepson, Steve Lancaster. Ruth was born on Nov. 12, 1910, in Norton, Texas, to Alexander and Ursula (Hyder) Morgan. Ruth began her 45-year period of teaching in a two-room schoolhouse. She was president of the Runnels County Teacher Association during her time as a teacher and loved her job of teaching children. She taught in the Ballinger system for 40 of those years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ballinger and taught a Sunday school class for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Holley Morgan and Faye Cooper; and brother, Charles Morgan. She retired from Southmore Hospital in 1970. She lived in Austin, Texas, and Round Rock, Texas, until moving to San Angelo in 1986. Martha was dedicated to her family and loved each one. She loved to garden and always had a beautiful flower and vegetable garden, although her greatest love was for children. She was a devout Catholic and spent her later years in almost constant prayer. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Holy Angels Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Walkoviak who passed away in 1964; three sisters, Mary Sivcoski, Theresa Wegwert and Ann Krolozyk; and brothers, David Laskoski and Louis Laskoski. JOE DEAN WEATHERBY Johnson's Funeral Home Joe Dean Weatherby went to his last round-up on Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Seton Hospital, Austin, Texas, following complications due to fungal pneumonia. Born in San Angelo, Texas, to Johnnie Sim and Jo Weatherby on March 17, 1959, he was a lifelong resident of Big Lake and Reagan County, where he owned and operated Big Jim Ranch. He also managed his uncle and aunt Karman and Carolyn Weatherby's ranching operations and was a consultant for numerous other family members and friends. He was an experienced pilot, flying everything from Ultralights to multi-engined aircraft. Also an accomplished helicopter pilot, he was known as the "Cowboy in the Sky," gathering everything from livestock to predators to exotic animals. Known as one of the top saddle bronc riders in Texas, and a many-time qualifier for the Lone Star Circuit Finals, he expertly worked both ends of the rodeo arena. He also enjoyed polo, playing in several benefit matches for organizations such as Sonrisas Therapeutic Riding. As a young man, he made a name for himself building handmade bits and spurs, a skill he honed alongside his father. He was an avid shooter, hunter, and outdoorsman, belonging to the Safari Club International, the Big Lake Gun Club and the National Rifle Association as a life member. A longtime director of the Middle Concho Soil and Water Conservation District, he was also a founding director of the Santa Rita Underground Water Conservation District, and a frequent and generous contributor to the youth of Reagan County, including the 4-H Club. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Big Lake. Joe Dean made and kept many lifelong friends from his various activities and endeavors. They celebrated life together for 71 years until John preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2000. She was a homemaker until the age of 50 and then became a special education teacher with the San Angelo Independent School District. She taught swimming and assisted many other teachers.
