Miss You I miss you so much, my stomach starts to bunch. Now since you’re not here, I feel this weird fear. I miss you so bad, when I think of you, I have never been so sad. You were the perfect person to talk to, so why did you have to leave so soon? You were loved by many, and missed by plenty. I wish you were here with us, I wish we were there with you, But most of all I wish I didn’t have to wish for you. Even though I miss you, I know you’re with the one and only savior, I just wanted you to know that we’ll love you forever. — Erika Fowler To: Dean Alexander (our angel) From: His loving family JOSEFINE ANDROS Johnson’s Funeral Home Josefine “Josie” Salame Andros passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 30, 2003. JACK FREDRICK ATEN Johnson’s Funeral Home Jack F. Aten passed away at home in San Angelo from a long illness on July 24, 2003. Jack was born on Aug. 31, 1933, in Beaverton, Ore., to parents John Harold and Gladys Marian (Morback) Aten. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Jack married Elizabeth Ann (Hamblen) in 1955 in Washougal, Wash. They met while he was working on a dairy farm in Washougal. While riding his horse and she on her bike, he almost ran her over. The chance meeting must have made a lasting impression for they were married for forty- eight years. Jack served duty for four years in Germany where their sons, Stan and Sam were born. He then went to Pakistan for fifteen months, while Liz and the boys stayed in Washington. His next duty station was San Angelo, Texas, where their daughter, Sandra, was born. He served duty in the Vietnam War and was in Okinawa for a year. Then it was on to Cheyenne, Wyo., for a year. After the snow that year, Jack said “We are going south.” When he retired from the Air Force after twenty-one years of service, the Aten family came back to San Angelo where we felt at home and have been here for the last thirty-three years. Jack’s last job was working for Rainbow Oil Company where he worked for approximately eight years. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Rosemary. Jack is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Aten; sons, Stanley Aten of Dallas and Samuel Aten and wife, Roxanne, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; daughter, Sandra Smith and husband, James E. Smith, of San Angelo; two brothers, Don and Joe Aten of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, Phillip, Jasmine, Kimberly and Timothy Aten of Sterling Heights, Mich., J.C. Smith and riding partner, Cody Jack Smith of San Angelo. Jack played Cowboy Polo with the San Angelo Saddle Club for many years. He was a Charter Member of the Big Country Cutting Horse Association and served for twenty years in the capacity of Cowman. Jack also was involved with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association for about twenty years, and just this last year he received his Life Time Pin. His favorite past time was horseback riding. We commented often that he was born in the wrong century. Before his illness, many a weekend you would find him out at the State Park riding all the trails with his riding partner Cody Jack and his many friends. Another hobby he took up later was Team Penning, where he met a whole bunch of new friends. Jack lived the life of a cowboy and he did it his way until the very end. From this union his sons, Ross and Robb, were born. His children were his legacy. In Ross and Robb one can see George in the twinkle in their eyes and the spring in their step. George taught them much in life’s lessons by the manner in which he led his life. These memories will comfort and guide them long after their dad is gone. George Graham was a man who had so much to be proud of — his wife, his sons and his many friends. He experienced success in all walks of life, yet he maintained a quality that is elusive to so many and that was his modesty. With so much to boast of, including both personal and professional gains, George’s modesty remained steadfast and intact. He didn’t feel the need to boast because he experienced self-satisfaction by simply observing his loved ones and friends who surrounded him. Farewell to a Son: Son, I know you are Home, safe and happy and that there is joy and everlasting light in Heaven. There is no pain and grief and the tossing has passed. I know you are at peace safely home in Heaven. Jesus’ love illuminated every dark fearful place. I know He himself came to meet you. Jesus with arms open so that you can lean on his chest close to his heart to welcome you to Heaven. I will not grieve so sorely for I will always love you dearly. Try to look to Heaven and trust our Father’s will. Your work on earth is done, so, like the way you made our trucks and cars shine, give me stars in Heaven, so that when I go out in the dark of the night, I can see you are doing your work in Heaven. You will rest in Jesus’ hand ’til the rapture of meeting you again and joy to see you, when he calls for me. You will never know how dearly I love you and will always love you.
