He was born June 25, 1930, in Rankin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Magarita Abalos; one son, Michael Ray Abalos; and three sisters, Manuela Rodriquez, Juanita Robles and Emilia Gonzalez. Willie is survived by his wife, Mickey Abalos of Robert Lee; two daughters, Susie Ramirez of Sonora and Mariann Bagley of Odessa; eight sons, Willie Abalos Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Midland, Tony Abalos and wife, Wuanice, of Amarillo, Rudy Abalos of Houston, Poly Abalos and wife, Gloria, of Midland, Jorge Abalos and wife, Delvia, of Artiesia, N.M., Danny Abalos of Sonora, Ernest Abalos of Robert Lee and Gilbert Abalos and wife, Tawny, of Bristol; two very special son-in-laws, Fidencio Ramirez of Sonora and Jimmy Bagley of Odessa; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Willie is also survived by three brothers, John Abalos of Sweetwater, Joe Abalos of Winnie, Texas, and Selso Abalos of Winnie; five sisters, Maggie Jacobo of San Angelo, Lita Gonzalez of Robert Lee, Maria Gonzalez of El Paso, Ann Purcell of Lancaster, Ohio, and Aurora Stephens of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. His children and grandchildren will always cherish all the wonderful memories left behind. His grandchildren will especially cherish how much their grandfather loved them and life. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, Aug. 21, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Robert Lee, Texas. Burial will follow in the Robert Lee Cemetery. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Willie will be laid to rest by his sons acting as pallbearers. L “MACK” BARRON Johnson’s Funeral Home V.L. “Mack” Barron, 93, of San Angelo, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Meadow Creek Nursing Center. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Shiell and Pat Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Mack was born May 29, 1910, to John B. and Alice Barron in Crescent, Okla. His parents, three brothers, three sisters and his wife, Bea preceded him in death. Mack was a member of Southland Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Velma Lane Barron of San Angelo; a sister, Alma Harshaw of San Angelo; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mack also enjoyed years of fellowship with the Shriner’s. DORTHY F BARROW Johnson’s Funeral Home Dorthy F. Barrow passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Dorthy was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Joseph S. Ferracone and Beulah D. (Holder) Ferracone on March 1, 1924. She married Earnest Barrow on July 10, 1971, and they were together until Earnest passed away on July 8, 1991. Dorthy was an avid collector of unique items, as was Earnest. Dorthy and Earnest were the founders of the Earnest and Dorthy Barrow Foundation Museum, which is located 4¤ miles east of Eola. Even though the Barrows are no longer with us, the dreams and hopes live on through the museum, which will remain open on its regular schedule. Dorthy and Earnest had no children but numerous relatives and friends. Dorthy is survived by Earnest’s brother, Hence Barrow; nephew, Hence C. and wife, Pat Barrow, of Odessa; cousins, Lynn and Rogene West of Dayton, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime employee and friend, Gary Glass, his wife, Kathy Glass, and their sons, Patrick, Nicholas and Zachary Glass. Graveside service for Dorthy will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Barrow Museum, 4¤ miles east of Eola on F.M. 765. FRANCIS W “FRANK” BENSON Johnson’s Funeral Home Francis W. “Frank” Benson, 85, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Aug. 15, 2003. He was born in Seguin, Texas, on Oct. 26, 1917. Graveside military service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Greenwell of Holy Angels Catholic Church will be officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry H. Benson and Josephine Davis Benson; and three brothers, Harry, Joe, and half-brother, William Benson. Frank was a medic in the army during World War II and served in the campaigns of North Africa and Italy. He was retired and had been a gunsmith, and during his scouting days had earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved to fish and at one time made his own fishing lures. He was one of the first to kayak fish. Frank is survived by his sister- in-law, Alleen Benson; four nephews, Dr. Mike Benson and wife, Marsha, Bill Benson and wife, Jozel, Greg Benson and wife, Annette, and Lee Benson and wife, Trisha; one niece, Millie Abbott and husband, Lonnie; four great-nephews; and four great-nieces. LENAGENE G (GENA) BURLESON Lenagene G. Burleson (Gena), age 81, was born Aug. 10, 1922, and passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was preceded in death by Philip E. Burleson Sr. and Joseph E. Ripple. Lenagene was a longtime resident of San Angelo, Texas, and was a member of Johnson St. Church of Christ. She lived the last 10 years in Port Aransas, Texas. She was the president of the Computer Club, the Garden Club, the Island Art Center and Kiwanis Club. She was also very active in the Presbyterian Church there. She is survived by her three sons and spouses, Flip and Denise, Rick and Darlene, and Don and Laverne; one daughter, Melissa; grandchildren, Ricky, Joel, Stuart, Carey and Hanna; and great- grandchild, Alexandria. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Presbyterian Church in Port Aransas, Texas. CATHERINE CLAMPITT BURTON Johnson’s Funeral Home Ellen Catherine Clampitt Burton, age 76, of San Angelo passed away Monday, August 18, 2003, at her residence. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3355 W. Beauregard, San Angelo, 76904, with her stepson Fr. Bob Burton co- officiating with Fr. Bill Daughtery and Fr. Bob Hedges. Catherine was born January 7, 1927, in Cisco, Texas, to E.B. and Ruth Clampitt. She was married to Fr. H.R. “Bob” Burton for 24 years. He preceded her in death September 15, 2001. Catherine worked alongside her husband as he served Episcopal churches in Maui, Hawaii, Van Horn, Texas, across the Trans-Pecos, and Brady, Texas. Their home always was open to friends and family wherever they served. Catherine was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne Caudle Crow. She is survived by three sons, Robert Caudle and wife Joyce of Lovington, N.M., David Caudle and wife Delpha of Ballinger, Texas, and Thomas Caudle of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Ellen Everett and husband Steve of Huntsville, Texas, one stepson, Robert Burton and wife Anne of Miami, Fla, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a host of very special friends who shared her love of life and a good hand of bridge. GENE EDWARD FLY Johnson’s Funeral Home Gene Edward Fly, 52, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday morning, Aug. 18, 2003, after a long, courageous battle with a debilitating illness. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in Belvedere Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Mike Burson officiating. A family visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A native of San Angelo, Gene was born Sept. 29, 1950. He is the son of Bruce Fly and Joy Martin. He attended San Angelo schools, Levelland Junior College and the Grapevine Farrier School. He served six years in the Texas National Guard. In 1991, he was married to Jody Washington of San Angelo. An avid outdoorsman, Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing from Alaska to Mexico. He pursued a variety of interests and worked as a cowboy, farrier, steelworker, roughneck, lineman, police officer and as a narcotics task force investigator. Throughout his working career, Gene assisted his father and his partner, James Crimm, in the operation of the “Flying C” ranching and farming endeavors. In his oilfield work, he spent nearly 10 years on the Alaskan North Slope. Gene’s love of the outdoors was enhanced by sharing his adventures with people he loved. Part of his legacy was to inspire others to live life to the fullest while never complaining of his own misfortune. His tenacity and insistence on “building memories” will be treasured by his many friends and family. Gene is survived by his wife, Jody of San Angelo; two sons, Brad Fly and his wife, Mercyla, of San Angelo and Corey McKenna and wife, Darla, of Liberty Hill; his mother and father, Bruce and Joy Fly of San Angelo; a brother, Lyndon B. Fly and wife, Alice, of Plano; a sister, Dianna Fly of San Angelo; a granddaughter, Abigayle Shelburne of San Angelo; two grandsons, Colton and Dalton McKenna of Liberty Hill; and mother-in-law, Mavis Washington of San Angelo. CARL W JR GEORGE Robert Massie Funeral Home Carl W. George Jr. died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003. He was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Slaton, Texas, to Carl and Grayce George. He grew up in San Angelo. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1953 with a degree in architecture and with a commission of second lieutenant in the Air Force. He served two years active duty in the Air Force, the entire tour at Sembach Air Base, Germany, and another seven years in the Air Force Reserve. After his tour of active duty, he returned to A&M where he earned another degree in civil engineering. He married the former Jeannine Marie Young of San Angelo in 1951 and they had two daughters, Valori and Stephanie. He practiced architecture and engineering in Bryan for 25 years, while he and Jeannine raised their girls. Carl was active in St. Andrews Episcopal Church, The Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Briarcrest Country Club and Rotary International. In 1983, he retired from engineering and he and Jeannine moved to the Monterey peninsula in California where they bought a motel and spent eight years in the motel business in Seaside, Carmel and Pacific Grove. In 1999, Carl and Jeannine moved back to Texas making Fredericksburg their retirement home. Then in 2002, they moved back to San Angelo to be near family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marydith George King. Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeannine of San Angelo; daughter, Valori George, granddaughter, Maya Perez and her husband, Eder, and grandson, Aaron, all of Monterey, Calif. Also daughter, Stephanie Hirschberg and her husband, Paul, and grandsons, Lucas, Justin and Matthew of Columbia, Md. A private family burial is planned. Memorials may be sent to Meals for the Elderly. FLOYD R GRAVITT Robert Massie Funeral Home Floyd R. Gravitt passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2003. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in the Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with Associate in Ministry Diane Terrazas, of Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. Military gravesite service will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Marjorie A. Gravitt; and brothers, John C. Gravitt and Wilbert L. Gravitt, both killed in action during World War II. Survivors include daughter, Lynda Sisemore of Fort Worth; son, John Gravitt of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandi and husband, Buddy Moore, of Mansfield, Texas, and Blaine and wife, Melissa; great-grandson, Jace Gravitt of Lakeland, Fla.; Christopher Gravitt of Tampa, Fla.; and sister, Joanna Yeager of College Station. Floyd was born on March 3, 1916, to Omer T. and Frances K. Gravitt in Prague, Okla. In 1934, Floyd received his amateur radio operator’s license (W5ERT) and turned a hobby into what would become a lifelong passion for electronics and amateur radio. After graduating from Coyne Electrical School in 1938, and a brief stint with Zenith Radio in Chicago, Floyd enlisted in the Army Air Corps. In February 1940, Floyd was sent to the Far East as a radio operator, stationed at Nichols Field, Philippine Islands. In May 1942, following the surrender of the Philippine island of Correigdor, Floyd was taken captive by the Japanese and spent the next 3¤ years in P.O.W. camps in the Philippines and Japan, as, he used to say, “a guest of the Emperor.” After the war, Floyd was stationed at Goodfellow Field, worked for Montgomery Ward, and later owned his own radio/TV repair shop on West Avenue N. Green, age 85, of Bruceville, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, in a Waco nursing facility. Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Bruceville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Craig Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Bruceville-Moore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco. Mrs. Green was born March 21, 1918, in Weatherford, to Horace Ivan and Bennie Anne Rust Trout. She was reared and educated in Abilene, Beatty and Brownwood. She graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood and received her master’s degree in education from Sul Ross State University in Alpine. She married the Rev. Kenneth Charles Green on March 6, 1941, in Brownwood. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1984. Together they pastored Baptist churches in Southeast, West and Southwest Texas. The churches they served include Winfree (Orange), Nome, Burkville, MacArthur Heights (Orange), West End (Saratoga), Oak Shade (Cleveland), Grape Creek (San Angelo) and Quemado. After retirement they were active members of Bruceville Baptist Church, where she taught the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She taught public schools in Orange, Cleveland, Grape Creek, Eagle Pass and Quemado. Survivors include daughters, Virginia Lynch and husband, David, of Bruceville and Sue Wells and husband, Tom, of Granbury; son, Joe Green and wife, Deborah Sosolik, of Bruceville; grandchildren, Kim Sepulveda, Jenny Provence, Joel Green, Payton Green, Jonathan Wells, David Wells and Sarah Wells; great-grandchildren, Whitley and Tanner Sepulveda and Kenna Provence; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lou Green of Lake Charles, La., Lula Mae Joiner of Eldorado, Texas, Helane Green of San Angelo, Billy Green of Eldorado, and Tommy and Jackie Green of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com DORA FRANCES ALMA HAGELSTEIN HAYTER Fort Stockton Funeral Home’ FORT STOCKTON — Dora Frances Alma Hagelstein Hayter was born Nov. 18, 1924, in San Angelo, Texas, to Herman and Anna Hagelstein. She was the last of their 11 children. Dora attended school in San Angelo and graduated from high school having missed only one half-day of school, that being for the burial of her sister. Dora loved sports and was a member of the Red Chicks Baseball Team in San Angelo. She attended San Angelo Junior College where she was editor of the “Rambouillet” and received her BA degree in 1947 from Sul Ross State College, where she was editor of the “Skyline” and secretary/treasurer of the Pioneer Club. She then attended Oklahoma State University to work on her MA in mathematics. Dora met Joe Hayter Jr. while attending Sul Ross State College. They were married in San Angelo on June 19, 1949. Dora taught math all her life. She began her career at Sul Ross State College before hiring on for a year at Monahans High School. Then she taught at Oklahoma State College while pursuing her Masters degree. While at Oklahoma State, she had the privilege of attending the Tangerine Bowl, where her future husband competed for the unbeaten Sul Ross Lobo Football Team as they dueled the Murray State College Thoroughbreds to a tie. After her marriage, she moved her shingle to Fort Stockton High School where she taught for more than 20 years before taking a leave of absence to care for her husband. During her years at FSHS, she was the cheerleading, National Honors Society and Number Sense sponsor, and attended almost every athletic and academic event. She also was an active member of Kappa Delta Pi. After Joe’s death, Dora completed her teaching career at Imperial High School. Dora loved to help kids learn math, and her home was open to anyone that needed her tutoring. Long after her retirement, students still came to her dining table for help with math. She always loved Water Carnival because the class reunions always brought many former students to her home for a visit. In 1994, Dora received the “Golden Ram Award” from Angelo State University for achievement in the field of education for 50-year alumni. Dora is survived by her twins, Bob Hayter (wife, Nancy) of Fort Stockton and Mary Lynna Hayter Page (husband, John) of El Paso. Her grandchildren include Heather Hayter Balyeat of College Station, John Hayter of Cherokee, Joe Bob and Timothy Hayter of Fort Stockton, Jody Page Glisson of Austin and Jolynna Page Addink of Houston. She also is survived by six great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Of her 10 siblings, only Meta Simmons of Richmond (San Francisco), Calif., survives. Pallbearers will be Gregg McKenzie, Gorman Wiseman, Frank Baker, John Borden, J.D. McIntyre, PeeBerry White, Clyde Sawyer and Bert Rainwater. Honorary pallbearers include Marty Winkler, Eddie Pfiester, Jim Bennett, Fred Harral, Dr. George Hoffman, Alvis Rainwater, George Pina and Thurman Conner, and all her fellow teachers, especially from FSHS. MICKEY CHARLES JOHNSON Johnson’s Funeral Home Mickey Charles Johnson, 56, was born on Oct. 25, 1946. He went to be with the Lord on Aug. 19, 2003. At the time of his death, he made his home in Springtown. Mickey was a Christian and was affiliated with several churches in Azle, Weatherford and Fort Worth. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. J. Earl Dunn and the Rev. Travis Monday officiating. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Mickey was in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a teacher for 33 years and taught in San Angelo at McGill Elementary, Fort Concho Elementary and various schools throughout Texas. He made a difference in the lives of countless children. Mickey never met a stranger, was always available to family, friends and neighbors for any task great or small. He left a legacy of love with his family, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. He is survived by his parents, Wayne and Rebecca Rosser Johnson of San Angelo; five brothers, Jerry and Brenda of Garland, George of Clyde, Larry and Sue of Garland, Johnny and Nancy of Lawton, Okla., and Roger and Becky of Fort Worth; one sister, Monica and Rodger Watson of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews. PATRICIA WALDROP KING Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel FORT WORTH — Patricia Waldrop King went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003. She had been home with Hospice care since early spring of this year. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park, 7301 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth, Texas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice, Fort Worth. Patricia was born June 17, 1929, in Wink, Texas. She resided in Seminole, Texas, graduating from high school in 1946. Patricia studied nursing at Scott and White Hospital, Temple, Texas. Later, she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Thomas University, Houston, where she graduated Summa cum laude and was a member of the National Honor Society of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau, Eta Phi Chapter. Patricia remained active through the local Fort Worth chapter of Texas Nurses Association. Patricia King lived in San Angelo, Texas, for 10 years, teaching nursing and being a wonderful Grannie. She moved to Fort Worth in 1998 to live with her daughter, Myra. Patricia was married to James K. Waldrop in 1950 and John H. King in 1974. Both preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Fredrick Hansen; and daughters, Paula Bender and husband, Tom, of San Angelo and Myra Waldrop Hennen and husband, Phil, of Fort Worth. Patricia has two granddaughters, Wesley Bender and Elise Bender Weinmann and husband, William, all of San Angelo. Also surviving are one sister, Mary Ruth Slaton Miller from Seminole, Texas; six nephews and two nieces and their families; and cousins, Jack Slaton and Ann Slaton French of Lubbock, Texas, and Carla Slaton Payne of Wichita, Kan. Patricia loved her family with all her being. She was a creative, talented woman who enjoyed sharing life with those around her. We will be warmed with her love for the rest of our lives. BERTIE RUE LEE Rains-Seale Funeral Home BALLINGER — Bertie Rue Lee, 83, was born June 30, 1920, in Hunt County, Texas, and went to her Heavenly Father and loved ones, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, in Shannon West Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte. Bertie was born to Walter Monroe Bryant and Jessie Jewell Moseley Bryant. She married Lester Claud Lee on Oct. 7, 1939, in Ballinger, Texas. Mrs. Lee was a homemaker anda member of the First Baptist Church of Ballinger. She was extremely active in her church, serving as a teacher of the Mary Margaret class for a period of time and as chairman of the bereavement committee. She was active in the Woman’s Missionary Union and was a past president of the WMU and had served as a delegate to the Baptist Convention for the WMU. The joy of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she prayed for by name every day. He is also survived by four sisters, Alberta Colbaugh of Fort Myers, Fla., Judy Osteen and husband, Marvin, of Leslie, Ark., Estell Hudson and husband, Rusty, of Fort Worth, and Alice Williams of Fort Worth; two brothers, John “Sonny” McGinty and wife, Barbara, of Springtown, Texas, and Bobby McGinty and wife, Shirley, of Milton, Fla.; dozens of nieces and nephews; many, many friends; and a very special friend, Francis Smith of San Angelo. Calvin lived in and around San Angelo most of his life. He joined the Marine Corps in 1941 and for years had been an active Mason in the Phil Head Lodge No. 1415 of Carlsbad and Concho Lodge No. 1260 in San Angelo. DR LEO BROWN MERRILL Kerbow Funeral Home SONORA — Dr. Leo Brown Merrill died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb. 8, 1918, in Eager, Ariz., to Fred and Della Merrill. Leo grew up on the family ranch in eastern Arizona where they caught, broke and sold wild horses. Included among their customers were the Apaches from the White River Reservation. Leo, his brother, Rex, and their dad were ranchers and freight haulers. Leo was very active in high school athletics and went on to play football at Gila Junior College. Because Leo was very interested in a better way to manage the family ranch, he went to Utah State and majored in Range and Forestry. Leo graduated immediately after joining the Naval Air Corps. He went on to pilot a Merlin PBM seaplane, although he claimed he only “drove it.” While serving out of Harvey Point in North Carolina, he met Pat Edwards and they were married one and a half years later. Lt. Leo Merrill served in both the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean on patrol for enemy subs. While serving in the Pacific, he was stationed in the Galapagos Islands where he became fascinated with the diversified wildlife. Upon discharge after the war, he and Pat came to Sonora, Texas, where he went to work for the A&M Research Station. During this time, he completed his education at Texas A&M, receiving both his master’s and Ph.D. in the field of Range Management. He spent his career doing range research, working to improve worldwide range grazing practices. He is known throughout the ranching community for his “Merrill 4 pasture deferred rotation grazing system.” Leo retired from A&M as the superintendent of the Sonora Research Station at the age of 65. Leo was a founding member of the Society for Range Management and president in 1956, a member of the Masonic lodge and a past president of the Sonora Lions Club. Leo was preceded in death by his father, Fred; mother, Della Brown; brother, Rex; and his special friend and brother-in-law, Roy Ransom. Leo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat; son, Cliff and his wife, Pat; daughter, Pattie and husband, David Cutbirth; and five granddaughters, Camilla, Catherine, Candace, Cassandra and Caroline Cutbirth. He moved to Lubbock to become the registrar at Texas Tech University and retired from Tech as the director of admissions in 1980. He moved back to San Angelo in 1990, where he lived at Rio Concho West until his death. Tom held numerous supervisory and managerial positions until being promoted to the corporate headquarters of Union Pacific Corporation in Omaha, Neb. After 21 years with Union Pacific, Tom accepted the position in Tulsa with PennWell Corporation as Chief Financial Officer, which he held at the time of his death. He was senior vice president of Finance and Administration and chief financial officer for PennWell Publishing Company, a highly diversified international media company. Tom also held the volunteer position of vice president for Family and Children’s Services and was an active supporter of Fire Engineering Courage and Valor Foundation as well as various other Civic and Arts organizations. A member of AICPA as well as other professional associations, Tom spent his entire professional career in business and finance. Though his professional accomplishments were many and noteworthy, it is as a genuinely compassionate, giving person that Tom will remain in the hearts of family and associates. Her most cherished years of practice were working with Dr. Randy Rountree in his OB/GYN practice. After bringing her six sons and two girls into this world and raising them the best way she knew how, she felt she had found her calling on this earth. She loved to give the young women advice and watch them grow into loving mothers to their babies. Mary remained very active and upbeat after being diagnosed with end stage renal failure. Her sense of humor made the most difficult situations ones filled with faith and hope. Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, Delfina and Manuel Tovias Sr.; her brother, Camilo Fuentes; and her dearest aunt, Frances “Kika” Lopez.
