She was born in Throckmorton County on Aug. 14, 1913. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hill Allen, pioneer ranchers in Throckmorton County. Flo attended high school in Goree, Texas, and received her B.A. degree from Texas State College for Women in Denton. At age 19, she began teaching primary grades in a one-room schoolhouse at Brushy School in Haskell County. She began teaching math in Sterling City in September 1936. She held this position for eight years. She married Foster Sims Price on Jan. 29, 1944. Flo was a member of the Sterling City Church of Christ, where she enjoyed teaching Bible classes. She was active in school and civic activities in Sterling City and was dedicated to her family and friends. Her husband, Foster Sims Price, her parents, a brother, Rex Allen of Throckmorton, and a sister, Jo Moore, preceded her in death. Mrs. Price is survived by three brothers, Mark Allen and wife, Vivian, of Clarendon, Taylor Allen and wife, Margie, of Goree, Rhoades Allen and wife, Jean, of Denton, and a sister, Lois Liles of Throckmorton. Mrs. Price is also survived by five children, Allen L. Price and wife, Tanis, of San Angelo, Frank S. Price and wife, Ginger, of Sterling City, Elaine King and husband, Courtney, of San Angelo, Shirley Johnson and husband, Daniel C., of Big Spring, and Lois Cave and husband, James R., of Snyder. Florine Price has 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to especially thank Brenda Conner, Cindy Longorio, Sara Martinez, Marcella Nunez, Tammy Ponce and Rupert Fuentes of Sterling City for the loving care they gave Flo. He was 80 years old. He was a Methodist. He graduated from Bellville High School and served for three years in the Army Infantry in the South Pacific during World War II. Slim worked many years for Alexander Construction as a carpenter. He was a quiet Christian man and loved his home and family. Honee, as his children and grandchildren lovingly called Mr. Barry, had a wonderful sense of humor and his loving kindness and gentleness will be remembered always by those whose lives he touched. Preceding him in death were an infant nephew, James David Barry; his parents, C.M. Marie was born in McCulloch County May 25, 1916, to Charles and Alvorita Brown Pinson. She attended public schools in Mason County and Fredericksburg. As a teenager, Marie was taught cosmetology by her beloved Aunt Ruth and began her lifelong profession. While working in Menard, she met the love of her life, Burlie Bradford, and they married on Dec. 10, 1935, in Brady. After raising their family in Menard, Burlies career as a state employee allowed them to live in several other cities in Texas, where she made numerous friends. Marie attended Southwest Texas State University while they lived in Austin and later taught cosmetology at Austin High School and La Grange High School, where her students won numerous awards. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; her parents; and one sister, Gloria Laverne Pinson Martinkus. Survivors are two daughters, Carolyn Dawson and husband, Ray, of San Angelo and Paula Ruth Hughes and husband, Bill, of Fort Worth; brother, Byron Pinson of Belleville; and sister, Dardanella Jornod of Fort Wayne, Ind. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughters, Cheryl Dawson Lawler and Donna Dawson Walton; and grandsons, William Bradford Hughes and David Scott Hughes. She was born July 28, 1908, in Coke County, Texas, to Sam and Olive Snearly, living her early life with the Sam Sayners. Family and friends visitation was from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Johnsons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Johnsons Funeral Home with burial in Belvedere Cemetery. She married R.L. Denton on July 12, 1924, at Mann Community Church near Winters. They were married 64 years. She and her husband, Bud, farmed in Runnels County from 1924-1938, then moved to Sweetwater, Texas, where the Rev. Denton pastored the Baptist Church. They moved to San Angelo in 1940 where they served at Bethel Baptist Church for eight years, then moved to Abilene for two years, pastoring until 1950. They returned to San Angelo where Sister Denton operated a childrens nursery until 1955. She then attended her husband in service at West Side Baptist Church until their retirement in 1972. She taught Sunday school for many years using the flannel-graph method. Sister Denton was a strong supporter of her husbands ministries and was a very devout Christian her entire life. She took into her home many people in need and helped them until they were able to make it on their own. She was a member of Baptist Temple. Sister Denton was preceded in death by her husband, R.L.; and brothers, Stanley Snearly and Chester Derrick. She is survived by one son, Charles Denton of San Angelo; daughters, Adelle Lee of Carlsbad, Mary Moren of Andrews, Robbie Pettit of San Angelo and Renee Cain, also of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. [hd_memorials.gif] Post a memorial Back MAURINE WEEKS EARNSHAW Rains-Seale Funeral Home MAURINE WEEKS EARNSHAW BALLINGER Maurine Weeks Earnshaw, affectionately known as Grannie to the community of Ballinger, went to sleep Friday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2003, at the age of 102 years old. A longtime resident and pioneer of Ballinger, she was born on Nov. 9, 1900, in Llano, Texas, to John A. and Susie Morgan Weeks. At the age of five, her family moved to Ballinger, where her father owned and operated Weeks Drug Store. The drug store was a gathering place for all ages. It was a place downtown (a home away from home) for all ages to meet and greet over a 5 cent Coke or a cup of coffee. After 6 in the evening until 10, you could get curb service. Grannie married R.W. Earnie Earnshaw, May 1924 in Ballinger. He later joined Mr. Weeks in the business as a pharmacist and continued in the business with the same legacy. Her husband, parents and grandson, Jack Earnshaw, preceded her in death. Grannie was involved with many activities in the First United Methodist Church. She was a teacher and officer of many organizations. She was always ready to serve and do what was necessary to make the church a better place to worship. She will long be remembered for her faith and philosophy of life. Grannie is survived by her son, Johnny Earnshaw and wife, Helen, of Ballinger; grandsons, Clay Earnshaw and wife, Deborah, of Ballinger and David Earnshaw and wife, Carole, of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren Jeffery and Wesley Earnshaw of Ballinger, and Ben and Emily Earnshaw of Frisco. Mrs. Estes was born April 14, 1911, in Strawn, Texas, the daughter of the late Benjamin Cicero and Harriet Frances (Bowers) Lauderdale Sr. She was reared in Iraan where she was a 1931 graduate of Iraan High School and attended Tarleton State University. On Dec. 31, 1935, she married William Richard Estes in Iraan. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1955. From 1953 to 1967, she owned and operated Estes Construction Company, an oil field company, in Big Lake. While living in Big Lake, she was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught in the Junior and Senior Departments. In 1967, she moved to Waco where she became a member of First Baptist Church and the AMOMA Class. She enjoyed assisting with the Meals on Wheels Program, the Sewing Class and other various senior activities. In 1974, she moved to McGregor and was awarded the Pathfinders Award in 1986. A son, Richard Lee Estes; two brothers, Thomas Alexander Lauderdale and Edwin Lauderdale; and a sister, Selena Lauderdale, also preceded her in death. He was born Dec. 27, 1935, to O.D. and Lucille Huckabee in Brownfield, Texas, and grew up in Andrews. Coach was a graduate of Andrews High School and Hardin Simmons University. Prior to his retirement, after 22 years in the oilfield sales, he coached various sports. His coaching career included six years in Hale Center, 16 years in Monahans, one year at Midland Lee, and most recently was an assistant coach for Midland Christian girls basketball team. Coach loved roping and horses in his early career, but golf was his most recent passion. A member of Greentree Country Club, Coach loved assisting and helping all with their golf game. He was a coach to the very end. Rons grandchildren were his life and he loved watching them participate in their sporting events and really enjoyed helping the officials. Marie worked for Brooks Dry Goods for many years and enjoyed helping customers. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church and served on many boards and committees. Marie was a founding member of the Sterling City Senior Citizens Club and was active until poor health slowed her down. She baked many pound cakes to help raise money to restore the depot in Sterling City for the Senior Citizens meeting place. She was born in Throckmorton County on Aug. 14, 1913. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hill Allen, pioneer ranchers in Throckmorton County. Flo attended high school in Goree, Texas, and received her B.A. degree from Texas State College for Women in Denton. At age 19, she began teaching primary grades in a one-room schoolhouse at Brushy School in Haskell County. She began teaching math in Sterling City in September 1936. She held this position for eight years. She married Foster Sims Price on Jan. 29, 1944. Flo was a member of the Sterling City Church of Christ, where she enjoyed teaching Bible classes. She was active in school and civic activities in Sterling City and was dedicated to her family and friends. Her husband, Foster Sims Price, her parents, a brother, Rex Allen of Throckmorton and a sister, Jo Moore, preceded her in death. Mrs. Price is survived by three brothers, Mark Allen and wife, Vivian, of Clarendon, Taylor Allen and wife, Margie, of Goree, Rhoades Allen and wife, Jean, of Denton; and a sister, Lois Liles of Throckmorton. Mrs. Price is also survived by five children, Allen L. Price and wife, Tanis, of San Angelo, Frank S. She was a charter member of the Henson Sunday School Class of the First Christian Church, which was begun by her mother, Mrs. J.H. Angie Russell more than 60 years ago. She was employed by the Texas Highway Department for 24 years. Nita belonged to National Secretaries Association for several years. After retirement, she joined Las Hermonas Federated Womens Club. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mable Chambers, San Angelo, and Jane Garrett, Ballinger; and a daughter, Jan Bankston, Pearland. She is survived by her brother, J. Hudson Russell and wife, Eloise, San Angelo. Jodie enjoyed his lodge meetings, as well as spending lots of time with his grandchildren and family members. Jodie loved to travel and enjoyed his summer vacations with his wife and granddaughter.
