Her daughter has lost a wonderful mother and her granddaughters, the joys of her life, have lost a wonderful grandmother. Nature has lost a friend and advocate. Gardening and bird-watching were just part of her many diverse interests and talents, which she shared with those in her life. She incorporated her love of nature in many of her beautiful needlework creations and shared them with friends and family. She saw to it that her corner of the world was always beautiful and that her friends and family were always welcome there. Quite often her home was a place of refuge, as was her company. An avid writer, she will be missed by friends nearby and across the country. Pearl had pen pals in every state, and numerous foreign countries at one point in her life. These have narrowed to a few special friends and confidants she never met face- to-face, but were, nonetheless, counted among her lifelong valued friends. Often her friends were lifelong friends, as was Mackey Harris who has been her bosom buddy since the age of 12. Their friendship for life has raised the standards by which we measure friendship. She met life's demands with enduring stamina that won admiration. She taught us respect for the world around us, and the value of people to love. For this and so much more, we have always loved her.
