Laughlin Service Funeral Home January 28 SARAH FRANCES BLOUNT ANDERSON GRAND PRAIRIE — On Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at 3:33 p.m., Sarah Frances Blount Anderson decided within herself and with God’s approval, that it was time for a new home and a new body. She went home to meet her heavenly father with her husband of 50 years and her children by her side. Although heaven has received another angel, earth now has a deeper void. Left to mourn and rejoice in her homegoing is husband, James Henry Anderson; her siblings, John Henry “Buddy” Blount of Piscataway, N.J., Robert “Bobby” Blount of Perthambay, N.J., Margaret Burke of Edenton, N.C., Mary Emma and Percy Halsey of Edenton, N.C., and Rosa Lee Blount of Orlando, Fla. Born in Edenton, N.C., Sarah was introduced to a young man in a Marine Corps uniform. She had said of meeting James Henry Anderson that it was love at first sight. The couple proudly celebrated 50 years of marriage on Oct. 5, 2004. To their union, Sarah and James have nine children who dearly loved and cherished their mother. They are Donald Ray Anderson and Sharon of Midland, Texas; Phillis Woods of San Angelo, Texas; James Edwin Anderson of Dallas, Texas; Marcia Wills and Alvin of Dallas, Texas; Lisa Hill and Bill of Jackson, Miss.; Deloris Myles and Earnest of Fort Worth, Texas; Terrance Anderson and Dana of Lewisville, Texas; and Linda King and Zebedee of San Antonio, Texas. Sarah was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ella Blount; her father, John Henry Blount; and her precious daughter and namesake, Sarah Elizabeth Amey of Colorado Springs, Colo. Remembering Granny are Shane, Sheldon, D’Andra, Daniel, Marcus, Daylon, Dezaron, Krystal, Kristine, Laurence, Candice, Carlos, Corteny, Shaunte’, Kiona, Cameron, Tatiana and Natalia. Her pride and joy also included a small host of great-grandchildren, D.J., Glynntavia, Cornelius, Cornell, Cantrell, Nathan, Aliyah, Bralen and Janiah. Sarah, who served faithfully beside her husband who was pastor of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ for 28 years, was also a volunteer at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas, for 10 years. She spent her life giving to others. She retired from GTE on Oct. 31, 1991, after 20 years of service. She was an active member of the Ministers Wives Alliance of San Angelo for many years, where she made numerous wonderful friends. Sarah never met a stranger and because of that she was called “mom” by many that didn’t have or could not reach their own mothers. She claimed many sons and daughters of different ethnicities and backgrounds — never making any distinction between them or her own children. Sarah, sweet baby sister, the loving wife, the greatest mother in the world, the consummate friend, the love of our lives, we will miss you more than words can say. Our comfort comes in knowing you are no longer suffering and that you are there with our little Sarah. We will always love and honor your memory. We promise to live a life worthy of seeing you again. We promise to love each other the way you loved us. We promise to never forget you or the lessons you taught us. We promise to love and care for dad until we all see you again. And Mother, the 69 balloons floating towards heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 2, are to commemorate your 69th birthday. Mom’s favorite scripture: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:20-23. With love, your family ...
