Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, February 28, at College Station City Cemetery with the Rev. Owen Bryan Clifton officiating. Katherine was born on August 23, 1908, in San Angelo, Texas, to Curtis and Cora Blackburn Dugan. She lived her life privately and independently with dignity to the end. A native Texan, she lived in many areas of the state, including Corpus Christi, Austin and Houston. She married John Calvin Birdsall Sr. in 1934. She lived and worked for many years in Austin as a legal secretary and administrative assistant before retiring at the age of 80. At that time, she moved to Houston to be near her son and granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957. Survivors include her son, John "Cal" Calvin Birdsall Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Katy; granddaughter, Betty Lynn Keavney and husband, Michael, of Houston; great-granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Keavney of Houston, the light of her life; sister, Mrs. Majorie Clifton of Bryan; brother, Thomas Dugan and wife, Dixie, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and numerous loving nephews, nieces and extended family members.
