Wounded twice and gassed in the St. Mihiel and Argonne offensives during the war, Mr. Hazel had been ill for some time. He had joined Company B, 11th Infantry of the American forces shortly after war was declared in 1917. In 1930 he was married to Miss Mary Marberry, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Marberry, of this city. Members of the American Legion will act as pallbearers. The Rev. J. Grady Timmons will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Fairmount. Surviving are the wife and small son, Jack, the mother, a Mrs. W. L. Black of Moro, Ark., a sister, Mrs. Sam Polk of San Angelo, and three brothers, Clarence and Edward Hazel of St. Louis, and W.L. Hazel of San Angelo. My notes: Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army, Co. D, 11th Infantry, 5th Division The surviving mother of Leslie Arnold Hazel is Mrs. Nora 'Ollie' Collins Hazel Black, 1st married to Hiram Benjamin Hazel of KY 2nd to Mr. W.L. Black. Sr. of AR. The three brothers of Leslie are listed incorrectly as Hazel's - They are Black's, Leslie's half brothers.
