George was converted the second week in October 1831. On March 4, 1838, he was married to Parthena T. Glascock in Alabama. He was licensed to preach in October 1842, and ordained in 1853. Presided over the Alabama Confederence Methodist Protestant Church three years. In 1861 he joined the Colorado Texas Conference, over which he presided two years. The last years of his active sevice were given in McCullough, Mason, Menard, Tom Green and Concho Counties, Texas. About thirteen years ago he took the superannuated relation to the conference which he held until the time of his death. During this period, he did such work as his advanced years and failing strength would permit. About the middle of November 1902 went to Capitan, New Mexico, where he made his home with his son, Harvey P. Vest, where he died a triumphant death on the 31st of March 1903. His last words, which he requested might be published were "I'm going home to die no more." "Peace, Peace, Sweet Peace, Glory to God", he shouted and praised God, some days before his death. Those present said that he seemed anxious to go, and he died one of the most triumphant deaths ever witnessed." ===================================================================== ========
