HARRIS and children, Watkins and Mary Elizabeth, have returned from a sojourn at Port Lavaca, much improved in health. *** Today at the State Federation of Women's clubs, which is in session at Waco, Mrs. Joseph B. DIBRELL of Seguin will be elected president of that prominent body of women. There is no opposition to Mrs. DIBRELL, as she is one of the most prominent and universally popular women in Texas. *** The many Austin friend of Mrs. Cornelia BRANCH STONE of Galveston rejoice in the honor shown her at the U.D.C. convention in Virginia, which places her at the head of the national organization of Daughters of the Confederacy. NEWS OF THE STATE HOUSE Hardware Merchant of Normangee Visits State House. Joe WREN, a well known hardware Merchant of Normangee, Leon County, was a visitor at the Secretary of State's department. Mr. WREN a short time ago was bitten on the hand and leg by a dog that was supposed to have been mad, and he is here taking a course in the Pasteur institute Judge WELLS Here Judge James B. WELLS of Brownsville was here yesterday on business with the attorney general's department. Judge WELLS said that his section of the state was in a fine condition, that there was considerable development going on on every side. There were a number of new settlers coming to the surrounding country from the north and west. General HULEN was a Visitor at the Capitol. Former Adjutant General John A. HULEN, now at Houston, was here yesterday on business with the railroad commission. General HULEN is now holding an important position with the Frisco system with headquarters at Houston. He is accompanied by Mrs. HULEN Hettie GREEN's Birthday Dallas, November 21- Today was the seventy-third anniversary of the birth of Mrs. Hettie GREEN, the richest woman in the world and Edward H.R. JACKSON is registered at the Driskill. COURT ANNOUNCEMENTS The petition of Birdie WALTON for divorce from William WALTON was granted yesterday by Judge CALHOUN in the Fifty-third district court. The plaintiff was given permission to resume her maiden name of JACKSON. San Antonio, Nov 21 – John BALLARD, who was convicted of horse theft here at the last term of the district court, will have to face similar charges in Bell County. Sheriff BURK of that county was in San Antonio today and carried BALLARD back with him MARRIAGE LICENSES George DAVIS and Josephine PARRAMORE John SPEKELS and Alvira PFLUGER Alberta MORALES and Caumiro VERLANGO MORTUARY Fort Worth, Nov. 21- John A. RICHARDSON, 72 years old, died today at his home in West Handley. Mr. RICHARDSON, a native Texan, born in Jasper County, was a veteran of the Civil War and came to Fort Worth in 1877. Fifteen Grandchildren are living. New Braunfels, Tex. Nov. 21- Mrs Amelia SCHAEFER, an old and respected citizen, passed away suddenly from a stroke of paralysis at her home near this city last night at 10 o'clock. She was 67 years old and leaves her husband George SCHAEFER, aged 88 years, a large number of children and grandchildren. Internment was in the New Braunfels cemetery at 4 p.m. today, Rev. G. MORHINWEG conducting the funeral service. Lula Belle DAY, aged two years died at 1 o'clock this morning from the effect of some unknown poison. She was taken sick about five o'clock yesterday morning going into some kind of stupor. A physician was promptly called in, diagnosed the case as one of poisoning but was unable to determine what kind of poison she could have taken. Everything possible was done to save her life but to no avail. The little girl is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver DAY of 501 Walsh Street. She was a beautiful child and her parents were devoted to her. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made. San Antonio, Nov. 21- Frank E. COLLINS, aged 60 years, died last night very suddenly within a short time of having seen his little grandson for the first time. The cause was heart failure, supposed to be brought on be joy. The grandfather had been looking forward with great pleasure to a visit of his son Victor, his wife and their baby from Houston, and he went to the train to meet them upon their arrival. It was the first time he had seen his grandchild and his joy was unbounded. His sudden death came after he reached home and the families were in the midst of happy rejoicing. He is survived by a widow, Mary J. COLLINS, his son Victor COLLINS, of Houston and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie PARTRIDGE and Mrs. Estelle JESTER, both of this city. San Antonio, Nov. 21- Bernice LACOMPTE aged 9 years was run down and instantly killed this afternoon by an automobile in front of his parents home. The automobile was owned by C. A. C. HALFF, one of the wealthiest merchants of this city and was driven by R.W. SMITH. SMITH was arrested.
