"Gen. William P. Hardeman; Born in Williamson County, Tenn. November 4, 1816; Died
Apr. 8, 1898; 
He came to a Texas in 1835 and served in every military struggle. A veteran of four
wars."

Additional Comments:
Notes: William's full name was William Polk Hardeman "Old Gotch"..He served the
state of Texas in 
both a military or official capacity longer than any other Texan, from 1835-1898,
until right before his 
death.
