TENNIE McCLENDON - passed away April 16 at 3:30 A.M. at the home of her daughter Miss Maude Deaton of Groveton after an illness of 5 months. She was a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Della Gaston of Antioch; Mrs. E. E. Harding of Centerville and Miss Maud Deaton of Groveton. Three sons, Oscar, Edgar and Carrol Deaton of Groveton. 1 sister Mrs. Abe Eames of Houston. Four great grandchildren & twenty-six grandchildren. The services were held by Rev. Key assisted by Rev. Funderburk at Moore Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. April 17. Funeral Arrangements by Biscamp. MRS. ANNIE E. RICHARDSON - was born April 22, 1873 died April 18, 1946. She was the mother of seven children, six boys and one girl. The boys are: Cleat and Tood of Apple Springs, Chester and Dick of Houston and Crit of Corrigan. Mrs. Luther Price of Apple Springs. She had two sisters Mrs. Fannie McClain of Houston and Mrs. Della Rogers of Apple Springs. She had twenty-two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She was a member of the Baptist church joining when she was 16 years of age. She was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on April 19th. Rev. Yates of Lufkin held the funeral services. Arrangements by Biscamp. DANIEL JASPER DOMINY - Funeral services for Daniel Jasper Dominy, age 74 were held at the Pennington Baptist Church Saturday April 27, 1946 with Rev. Tomme and Rev Funderburk officiating. After the services the body was carried to the Pennington Cemetery for burial. Mr. Jap, as he was commonly known to his friends and relatives will be greatly missed. His influence will be a guiding light for those left behind. His life was a success and excellent example to be followed. The last two years of his life were spent in bed due to a stroke of paralysis. During this period although speechless he was always in the best of spirits. Surviving are two daughters Velma Dominy of Pennington and Mrs. L. J. Robinson of Avila, Calif., three sons, Wesley of Groveton, Ernest of Kennard and Horace of Pennington, one sister Mrs. J. C. Arnold of Crockett; four brothers John H., Quince, J. A. and Charlie B. are of Pennington. Pallbearers were John Dominy Jr. M.I. Dominy, E.C. Dominy, Gen Dominy, Curtis Arnold, Jr. and Jim Arnold. There were many out of town relatives and friends at the funeral. There were a host of friends of Pennington were present to pay their respect to the deceased. GEORGE STUBBLEFIELD - George Walter Stubbfield was born June 1, 1885 (61 years old). Born at Kennard, Texas, Houston County. Sick since July 20, 1946. Died August 26, 1946 1 P.M. Survived by 4 children, 2 girls Mrs. Hoyt Thompson, Friday, Texas. Mrs. Horace Evans, Houston, Texas. Sons: Troy Stubblefield, Lufkin, Texas, George Stubblefield, Friday, Texas. One brother: William Thomas of Friday. Sister Mrs. Tom Thompson of Thompson, Texas. 4 Grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services at Zion Hill Cemetery Thursday at 3 P.M. Services by Brother Jefferies. Arrangement by Biscamp Funeral Home. JAMES INGRAM - James Coleman Ingram was born November 12, 1888, died Monday Augustus 26, 1946 in Huntsville Memorial Hospital. He had come to Huntsville to be present at his wife's graduation where he suffered a heart attack. He was an outstanding educator for a quarter a century in Texas schools. Holding position of Superintendent of Goose Creek Schools, Galena Park Schools and Supt. Of schools in Trinity County. He is survived by his wife Iney Bee Oats Ingram, 2 daughters: May Louise and Martha Nan Ingram, Halta Lama, his mother Mrs. Rose Ingram of Groveton. Five brothers: James R., Mike, Grady, Edd and Tom B. Three sisters: Mrs. W. R. May, Misses Emma and Stella Ingram of Groveton. The body was brought overland by the Biscamp Funeral Home for services Wednesday. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery. L.P. ATMER - Funeral services were held Wednesday August 14 at the First Baptist Church in Groveton for L. P. Atmar, who died August 12 in San Antonio. A retired banker, Atmar had interests in Groveton, Trinity and Corrigan. The deceased was born December 26, 1876 and had been a member of the Baptist church since early childhood. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mabel Morris of Groveton; one son, Morris Atmar also of Groveton; three sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers were J.J. Collins, Lufkin; L.W. Burr, Groveton; Clayborn Dickey, Roy Howard, Byron McKnight, Corrigan; Gordon Riley, Corrigan; W.A. Mangum and H.C. Knickerbocker. MRS. MARY BUTLER - wife of S.T. Butler died August 13, 1946 at her home in Groveton after several months of illness of which she was confined to bed. Mrs. Butler was a resident of Groveton for twenty years. She was buried at Glenwood Cemetery August 14th. Arrangements by Biscamp Funeral Home. Funeral services conducted by Rev. McColloway. WILLIAM ROACH - William Marion Roach of Carmona, passed away October 2, 1946 at his home. He was born, April 2, 1870. He has been in bad health for several years. He is survived by his wife, three daughters: Mrs. G.A. Barton of Apple Springs, Mrs. Sue McC* of Houston, Mrs. D.L. Davidson of Marshall. Six sons: W.C. Roach, Robert Roach, of Lufkin, D.V. Roach of El Campo, T.L. Roach of Houston, Clarence Roach of Apple Springs and Blease Roach of Dallas. Four sisters, Mrs. Willie Springs of Apple Springs, Mrs. Laura Lowery of Apple Springs, Pearl Redd of Harlingen, and Mrs. Susie Watkins of Nacogdoches. One brother, Sam Roach of Diboll. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:30 P.M. at New Church in the North Cedar community with Rev. Yeates officiating. Funeral arrangements by Biscamp Funeral Home. MRS. SALLIE CAMBELL - age 71, died Sunday, September 29, 1946 at her home in Groveton, after an lingering illness. She was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Thornton and Mrs. Richard Burks of Groveton. One son, James of Rusk. One stepdaughter, Mrs. Susie Chapman of Houston and one half brother, T.A. Davis of Lufkin. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.M. Funderburk, past of the First Baptist Church of Groveton, services was held at Glenwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Biscamps' Funeral Home. JAMES SAFFORD - Carmon, Texas Oct. 4, 1946 - James Bethel Safford, was buried today at 2:00 P.M. He died October 2, 1946 at Texas City, Texas. He was 49 years old. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sibly Safford, Texas City, two daughters, Mrs. Melba Lee Moree, Houston, Johnie Faye Elliott, Trinity. One son, James Bethel, Jr. Texas City. Also his mother, Mrs. Jim Safford, Carmona. Three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Watson, New Willard, Miss Violet Safford, San Marcos, Miss Naomi Safford, Houston. Three brothers, Carl Saffod, Pt. Arthur, Harry, Camona, and Rupert of San Marcos. Pallbearers were: W. E. Rasbeary, W. H. Rasbeary, M.J. Bozeman, Ross Bayne, Bayless Rasbeary, and Grady Ewing. Funeral services were held by Rev. L. E. Ingrum and Rev. Leroy Patillo. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion. He had lived at Carmona until he joined the Army. A.L. POTTS - aged 58 died at his home near Glendale, Wednesday night October 16, at 11:45 after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, six sons, one brother, three sisters. He was buried Oct. 19 at Glendale cemetery at 3:00 p.m Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Key of Groveton. Funeral conducted by Biscamp Funeral Home. BILLIE McDOUGALD -was born in Trinity County October 25, 1898. Died Tuesday October 15, 1946 at Temple, where he had gone for medical treatment. He had just returned from South America where he had been employed for the last five years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie McDougald of S. America. His mother, Mrs. Annie Dominy, five in of Beaumont(sic), Lee of Groveton, brothers, Neal of Pt. Arthur, Rob and Dougald of South America. (sic). Funeral services was held at the Methodist church by Rev. Calloway Thursday at 3:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements by Biscamp Funeral home. EMMET WADE - died at his home here Oct. 19, 1946. He was born at Independence, Washington County Dec. 18, 1884. He had been a resident of Groveton for 59 years. Pallbearers were: Jack Dickey, Elzie McClendon, Coleman Ford, T. W. Stillian, Jim Duffie, Louis Keith. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Wade and one son, Clifford and his mother, Mrs. May Holder. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Calloway, pastor of the Methodist Church. He was buried in the Groveton Cemetery. Funeral services was conducted by Pace Funeral Home, Livingston. CARROL MILLS - Carrol H. Mills, an employee of the Highway Department, received what was thought to be slight burns last week, while working with hot asphalt. He was carried immediately to Lufkin, to the hospital. After dressing the burn they sent him home, having him to return on Monday. The attendants at the hospital dressed the burn and thought it was getting along fine and on the return trip home when they reached Apple Springs he died suddenly in the car driven by Mr. Oly Womack, another employee of the Highway Department. Mr. Mills was born March 21, 1900 in Trinity County and was buried Tuesday, Oct. 22. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Barba Anna 3, 3 sons, Carrol Jr., of Camp Polk, La, Richard and James of Groveton. One brother, Robert of Sabinal, 2 sisters, Mrs. E. A. Moers and Mrs. L. L. Chandler of Houston. Funeral services was conducted by Rev. Funderburk at the First Baptist church at 3:00 P.M. BOY WADE died at his home Saturday night a 8:00 P.M. He died after and illness of several months. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. May Wade, one son, Cliford of Groveton. Mother, Mrs. Ross Holden, one sister, Mrs. J.A. King of Camden. Funeral services was held by Rev. Calloway, interment in Glenwood Cemetery. PAT MULLINS - Elias "Pat" Mullens died at the home of Mrs. G.W. Powell of Josserand after a lingering illness. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. G. W. Powell, Mrs. G. C. Kennedy of Houston, Mrs. Paul Rainey of Magnolia. Five brothers, Walter of Orange, Dewy of Houston, Willis and Lonnie of Tyler, and George of Falfurias. Funeral services was held at Josserand Monday by Rev. Pettis of Arp, at 3:00 P.M.
