III, No. 1, Spring 1979, page 14 GAY/HAGAN CEMETERY UPSHUR COUNTY, TEXAS Contributed by Mrs. Elizabeth Osteen. There is little knowledge as to what the official name of this cemetery is, but elderly negroes and whites, whose relatives are buried here, have a tendency to, call it HAGAN. In that this property once belonged to Rufus and Nancy Gay, however, some people call it the GAY Cemetery. The writer thinks this cemetery is HAGAN or SHEPPERD. The first person buried in this cemetery is L. L. SHEPPERD, 1849-1854.
